Soon, the young wolf had forgotten all his earlier worries and hesitations (even if it really hadn’t been more than a few moments that had passed). The game was good. One that he knew how to play, one that his sister liked, and one that didn’t take them far at all from the den their mother had left them in for a time. As he darted away, Mathéo woofed again – a little louder this time, a little more merry as his oversized puppy feet thundered across the hard ground – but he didn’t escape the smaller Tainn for long.
Risaela jumped over him – or rather, she did try, for they were both puppies still, and judging distance was not something that came naturally but, with practice – in an effort to tag him back. Even though the boy went tumbling down gracelessly (not something he was unused to at this point in his life), he supposed it still counted as a return. Mathéo jumped up to his feet, pausing only long enough to shake the dust free from his coat before he went chasing after his sister, the smile broad across his face as his tail wagged behind him. Oh, but to be a happy puppy in a happy world.
