Putting down roots and eating dirt - Solas - Sep 06, 2017

@Muses in case you want to hop in otherwise all welcome ^^

Solas had spent the first couple of days going through the territory trying to memorize it so that if something happened he would be able to move around quickly. He hadn't seen anybody yet since his arrival though he hadn't been looking as hard as he could have. He wanted to find someone to make ties with so that he would have someone to talk to and spend his time with when he didn't want to be alone. Solas moved across the forest floor until he stood before the great expanses of the lake. It stretched out before him reflecting the overcast sky and when his front toes into it he felt the sweet chill of it. He simply wanted to make ties here.

He briefly considered sending up a howl to let someone know that he was looking for company but he didn't want to have half the pack show up all at once. No, he wanted to interact with everyone one on one. He still disliked groups of wolves even if it was only a couple. He was going to have to change that Solas mused as he stared out across the water. Turning around Solas moved back into the trees he would head towards the main den. There was probably going to be someone there and if there wasn't he would try the borders.

So lost in his thoughts Solas was oblivious to the branch that lay in his path. He remained that way until he tripped on it. A sudden panic hit him as he fell before his chin hit the dirt and his body followed after him. Silently he lay there wincing as he tried to figure out if he had actually injured himself, besides his chin. That hadn't been fun.

RE: Putting down roots and eating dirt - Muses - Sep 06, 2017

Muses had prepared herself for another morning run, falling easily into a routine for this new life. She had lived in the pack for less than a week, much of which had been spent resting up from her long journey. Therefore, it was not surprising to encouter someone new. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a blur of grey fur. Turning, she attempted to wave a friendly hello with her tail, but the stranger suddenly vanished, falling forward without warning. Her lips parted slightly in surprise, and she quickly bounded towards where her packmate had fallen.

He lay sprawled, tensed with what Muses perceived to be pain. "Are you alright?" She yelped, rushing over to his side. Healing and medicine were not things that interested the young wolf very much, so she doubted she could accurately assess the situation. "Can you stand? Is there anything that you need?" Of course, the she-wolf was anxious to tend to the other, her tail quivering between her hocks.

Filled with dread, she wondered if she could carry the male closer to the main pack den if worse came to worst. O, but there was more than physical pain! How awful it must have been, to be caught in such a position. Lowering her front half down, she peered worriedly, lilac eyes scanning the body for any anomalies.

Mentally Solas went through his body and the information it was sending him. His chin hurt, his chest hurt, and his legs especially the one that he had been tripped with. The worst of it was his chin though so he didn't think that he had done anything especially bad to himself. A soft sigh of annoyance escaped him as he tried to untangle his legs so that he could get back to his feet and try to ignore the fact that this had ever happened.

He had barely begun to move when he heard fast moving paw steps moving towards him. Someone had seen him eat dirt? Crap he wasn't going to hear the end of this, was he? Solas moved his head so that he could see who was approaching and found himself looking at a pale and pretty stranger. She was speaking to him he realized and he realized that she was asking if he was alright and if she could help him before lowering front end down so that she could stare at him openly.

He blinked at her in surprise as she looked like she was actually really concerned about him. She seemed more worried about him than he was. Not sure how to react to her concern for a wolf she had just met he looked away mumbling in embarrassment. Seems like I might have scraped my chin and maybe bruised my leg, otherwise, I'm fine. He raised himself into a sitting position as he considered what to do next. Well, he had been looking for someone and now here was a someone to talk to.

I'm Solas. He told her introducing himself finally looking at her wondering if she would introduce herself or if he would have to ask for her name.

A heavy sigh of relief followed the wolf's summary of his injuries. Although the art of healing was not her forte, Muses knew enough of the basics to manage minor scrapes and bruises. The stranger, who introduced himself as Solas, was therefore in capable paws, should he need help. He declined such assistance, however, which made Muses relax somewhat. "Well, don't be afraid to ask for help if you ever need it! We're packmates after all." She assumed, giving her tail a friendly wag.

"My name is Muses. I joined just a few days ago." The she-wolf offered by way of explanation, trying not to fuss over the other since he had tried his best to pass off his injuries as minor. "Why don't we see if we can find a medical cache? I can help you clean that scrape, and then put something over it to help it heal faster. Even little injuries can become infected if they're not properly taken care of." Tone firm, she pulled back, standing upright once again.

At the very least, this would give them an opportunity to talk as they left to their next destination. Still new to the pack, she had yet to be assigned any specific duties. She ought to make herself useful where she could, for it would do her no favours if her packmates had no reason to like her. As readily as Kajika had accepted her into the pack, she was aware that she could be easily be banished as well.

Her sigh of relief had Solas's ears canting her way. She was truly worried for him, wasn't she? Maybe she was just one of those wolves that trusted strangers easily, of course, it might simply because they were pack-mates. She responded back easily saying that if he ever needed help to ask for it. He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye to see her relaxed form and her tail wagging behind her.

She went on to say that her name was Muses. An odd name but not anything stranger than his own he mused. Nice to meet you. He responded back though he wished that they hadn't met in such a way. She still seemed a bit worried about him though as she went on to say that she could help him clean the cut and put something on it for him. He hesitated for only a moment knowing he could try and clean it with his tongue but knowing that he wouldn't be able to get it all. If she knew a bit of healing then maybe he should just let her do her thing then. Besides her tone told him she wasn't going to take no for an answer.

Alright lead the way. Solas told her with a resigned look on his face. He didn't know where the medical supplies were so at the very least he could learn where they were at. Are you trying to become a healer? He asked trying to make conversation and to figure out if he was actually going to be a test subject for her to work on. He wouldn't mind if he was since packs needed healers but he wanted to know just in case she started to put random plants on him.
