are you gonna bite? - Reginald - Oct 24, 2017

Halloween RE! Your Gift is: You come across a mysterious blood stain near your denning area, but don't remember making a kill there || AW! || Early morning, Cloudy, 33°F (1°C)

[dohtml]

He had stayed up through the night, a rare occurance but he hadn't been able to sleep and thought to put himself to use. Slow patrols and sniffing around for any trails. It was uneventful for the chunk male but at least it was something to do besides laying and tossing restlessly. By the time he was heading back to his usual resting spot the sun was beginning to creep over the earth.

The arctic male almost missed the red spot on the ground with his poor vision but then his paw stepped into it. He yanked back his front left leg as his toes suddenly felt damp. Silver eyes squinted as he looked down below, positive that it hadn't rained recently for the rest of the place felt relitively dry. He noticed the strong crimson color as he lowered his head closer to the earth.

"Huh..." His face crinkled with slight confusion and disgust before they smoothed out again. Reginald couldn't remember having any sort of meal or fresh kill here recently. He quickly glanced around, wondering if a familiar figure might be pulling some sort of prank.

RE: are you gonna bite? - Serach - Oct 31, 2017

Hope you don't mind me joining you! I'm also not sure if this is taking place near the pack den or near Reginald's resting place, so I'm trying to vague about where Serach was. :)

Serach's nose was buried into the tip of his tail, the protective hairs shielding his face from the brunt of the wind. It was chilly, and the sun was taking its sweet time rising. It would rise less and less as fall transitioned into winter, and Serach wasn't quite ready to face that. So that morning he hadn't, and instead had curled deeper into his tail while the rest of the world began to wake. But his senses would not truly let him slumber, and so even though his eyes remained closed, he was registering at least vaguely the comings and goings of his packmates. His children, always eager to face a new day and push the boundaries set by their mother, were beginning to venture out from their heap. Reginald seemed to be up and moving too, although Serach couldn't recall if the new Bend member had ever actually gone back to the den the night before.

The small white wolf was nearby, his scent on the wind a little more forceful in Serach's nose. Cracking his eyes open, he squinted against the morning's light for a few moments as his eyes adjusted. Lifting his head, he looked around, blinking slowly as he tried to wake up. Reginald was beyond his field of vision, but now fully awake the Bend leader decided to commit to it and so he followed the scent. Chuffing in greeting as the pale form came into view, he began to walk up towards him from behind when his nose twitched at the familiar metallic scent of blood. "Morning Reginald," he said, looking to the crimson pool at the other man's paws. "Everything okay?"

I was thinking near Reginald's own resting place, which really shouldn't be too far from the main den! Thanks for jumping in<3

A familiar voice broke his spell of confused concentration. Worried silver eyes looked up towards the familiar tan figure. Truth be told, he was glad it was Serach who found him and the mystery pool of crimson. The male did not smell strong of blood and Reginald wasn't sure if it made him feel comforted or only fueled his confusion.

"I..." His voice started before drifting off as the chunky male took a step back. "Is don't know." Reginald admitted with a small frown tugging at the corner of his lips. The pale man didn't mind messes but it was the fact that he wasn't sure how the mess had appeared there. Ah! He didn't have to wonder alone, though. "Do yous perhaps know hows that got theres?" A pale brow raising as he looked thoughtfully towards the tan figure of his superior.

RE: are you gonna bite? - Serach - Nov 30, 2017

I am so so sorry on the delay. This fall has really taken its toll.
Serach's approach was met with a worried gaze, which frankly was not a good sign that the answer to his question was going to be a reassuring one. The blood was pooled at Reginald's paws, but the man's muzzle or coat was clear of any signs of it, which meant he was not responsible for it. The leader's anxiety only grew at Reginald's broken response and question.

His own frown grew and he silently shook his head from side-to-side to indiciate that no, he was just as confused as the subordinate was. "Afraid not...but perhaps we can figure it out. Maybe a coyote found a meal?" His nose twitched and he lowered his head to sniff around the ground to test his theory, but he came up empty. The only thing he could smell were the regular coming and goes of his packmates.
