RE: a man is just a man. - Remington - Mar 27, 2018

[dohtml]
And then you get up and get up and get up again

Reyes wasted no time, and no breath when he spoke. Remington breathed a bit easier thinking for now most of them were probably clueless. She might not be standing out to everyone like she thought. The young ones were now warned what could happen, and Askan made sure to add in just the right words to solidify it. She highly doubted the Edge would have to worry much this year about puppies. Which, was a little strange she supposed. Most packs did so to make sure it continued. Plenty of young ones had found them, and she didn't think the lack of a litter would hurt. They had their hands full as it was.

On the point of roles her ears perked up. She wanted one, but she wasn't sure what one. Scouting, and hunting had their appeal. She could definitely rule out medic since she knew next to none. In her youth she'd wanted to be a guardian. Standing beside her brothers. "If you two think it'd be suitable I'd like to be a guardian." Ultimately maybe she didn't need to be with Reyes and Askan at the helm. But, better to speak her thought and see what was their opinions. They may wish for her to do something else, and she hoped it was clear she was leaving it to them to decide if she should go down that path or another. She really just wanted to do her part for this pack.

RE: a man is just a man. - Reyes - Mar 27, 2018

Last round!  Ends on April 5th or after everyone posts.  Feel free to tag Askan or Reyes later to discuss your roles!  Of if you want more birds and bees talk...
@Idris @Sachiel @Hawthorne @Remington @Phoenix @Cancer @Pietro

No questions. Perfect.

At least no public questions, and that was half the battle. They either figured it out, or had figured out at least enough not to make a damn fool of themselves. Reyes exhaled through his nose, allowing himself a brief moment of peace while some of the pack members decided what kind of role they wanted, and piped up. Much easier to deal with.

“Fine. Remington – Askan and I will start working with you.” They were both guardians once, after all. And they both enjoyed a good work out. “Cancer, we’ll talk about caches.” And it wouldn’t be much more than that. He’d hardly tell the guy how to hunt. Just where to put things, actually, you know, talk about what was going on.

“Everyone else, think on your role. Once the kids are yearlings, we’ll move this into full swing. So that’s it, the meeting is adjourned.”

RE: a man is just a man. - Lenka - Mar 28, 2018

Lenka had sat quietly during the duration of the meeting, full attention rapt on the speaking alpha. She no longer had any doubt that's who he was, odd as it was to her to have two males in the lead. She shrugged it off; a new land bred new traditions and as she was a stranger to these parts - at least for now - she would simply accept and move on. At least she'd figured it out before disrespecting her second alpha inadvertently.

The meeting was on breeding. She felt a hollow space open in her chest. Had she not gotten sepparated from Meech, she would have been a mother this year. She didn't feel like she needed the warning; her parents had taught her all about this in the fall as an early warning. Besides, She thought, glancing around the assembled wolves, there's no one here like Meech.

At the mention of wolves the Artemieva girl perked up. She opened her mouth to volunteer to be a scout, but hesitated, glancing guiltily at Askan. What kind of scout got lost? Maybe she would wait to talk to them in private, rather than open herself up for embarrassment in front of the whole pack.

RE: a man is just a man. - Seven - Mar 29, 2018

[dohtml]

Seven blinked, his muddy un-Selwyn gaze fixated on the dark duo as they wrapped up the meeting, addressing those who had spoken up about their preferred roles before returning their attention to the rest of the group. He’d have to seek out his older cousin and figure out what he wanted to do; what he was good at. There was still a lot he was learning about himself now that he was no longer confined by towering silver fences. He knew a little about plants, but not as much as one of the newer recruits. Scouting was something he wouldn’t be opposed to, as he enjoyed having the opportunity to stretch his legs, but he wasn’t sure if he was good at acquiring information. Especially since he was a bit of a nervous wreck.

He offered a soft nod in the direction of his leaders before dismissing himself from the gathering. Seven had a lot to think about if he planned on pursuing a role within the pack. He’d seek out Askan later, when his head stopped spinning, but for now he welcomed the solitude of the surrounding forest. Seven exit.

RE: a man is just a man. - Sachiel - Mar 29, 2018

[dohtml]

The thought of entering the adult ranks was both exciting and intimidating. He felt as though time had snuck up on him, as it seemed like just yesterday he was leaving the orange trees of the Vale behind. His life had certainly taken a turn for the better and he did not regret his decision to move north. He was grateful for Diego, wherever he had disappeared to, for unknowingly helping him with an escape plan. Sachiel had used the older male’s naivety to his advantage and led him north, in search of something more. It had worked—he had stumbled upon Askan and Hawthorne and found a home among the Edgy wolves. A home he would never have obtained back in in the Vale. He had known from an early age that things were different between his parents. In the earlier months they had gotten along, doting on the agouti boy and tending to him together, but as time progressed their relationship had begun to fray. At first he had blamed himself—had he been too obedient?—but he slowly began to understand that it was not due to anything he might have done. They just weren’t compatible. They had rushed into things without thinking and we were not ready to be parents.

At least he had found wolves that were willing to care for him despite the different blood pumping through their veins.

His shoulder bumped against Hawthorne’s as Reyes dismissed the group, his mismatched gaze sweeping over her greyscale features. It was time for them to return to the forest… Sachiel exit.

RE: a man is just a man. - Askan - Mar 30, 2018

Leader dem 3/3
[dohtml]

As gross as the topic had been at least things went smoothly. No awkward questions or confused head tips, just a unanimous show of understanding. Good, at least now they could rest assured that there would be no surprise litters popping up anywhere. As much as Askan respected Lach he had to say that the Old Man hadn't handled spring very well last year. The leaders were in their right to breed, whatever, but Inna? She should have known better, should've been told to keep her legs closed. But that was neither here nor there, as grumpy as he was there was no use in dragging up old news.

Climbing to his feet, Askan shook off his coat and bowed down into a stretch. It helped ease the mounting tension forming in his shoulders and better yet the relief it gave him allowed his expression to relax a smidge. Less of a 'i'm moody as fuck' glower than a more neutral, socially acceptable expression. He straightened up and nodded along in agreement to his mate's words.

"As you were. He rumbled, watching his subordinates trickle away, out of sight into the woods.

Then he turned to his mate.

"Come spar with me." It was more of an order than a request. But it didn't matter, he knew Reyes could hold his own. Not only that but it would do them both some good.

RE: a man is just a man. - Cancer - Apr 02, 2018

[dohtml]

Well, that was that. A few others piped up with what they wanted to do, and then it was over. The whole thing had been pretty painless, and Cancer was content for that. It had certainly been much better than a lot of other pack meetings he'd been a part of. Most of the time, they had been drama filled and ended with someone getting demoted or canned, in his experience.

The others were filtering away now, but Cancer remained where he was, relaxing even further in the promise that he would soon be alone again. Leaning onto his side and kicking his hind legs out to the side, he went back to his meal, gnawing happily at the fresh, bloody meat.

RE: a man is just a man. - Pietro - Apr 06, 2018

Well, that certainly ended quick. No drama, no yelling or arguing or complaining. Now it was just a matter to wait and see if any of them would break the new rules put in place. Pete was willing to bet that they wouldn’t, but you never really knew. So he just remained still and quiet until they were dismissed, and then simply rose to his paws and turned to head back to the medicinal cache.

There was no need for him to discuss what role he wanted here. He liked to think it was rather obvious. He was a healer by nature and trade, and a healer was what he would strive to become. So he would continue to busy himself setting up his den and waiting for the time he would be able to prove himself.

RE: a man is just a man. - Lenka - Apr 06, 2018

Lenka watched with wide eyed as the pack members slowly dispersed. Her stomach dropped as Askan invited the other woman to spar with him. Did that mean she would be left alone? Maybe she should wait to ask.

She straightened her shoulders. No, she couldn't put this off. She wanted to make herself useful to her new pack. She might as well use this opportunity to learn new skills and grow as a wolf. Then, some day when she had earned it, maybe she could lead.

She remained in place, waiting for the opportunity to talk to her leaders.

i crashed my car into the bridge, i watched, i let it burn

Remington spoke up of wishing to be a guardian and the girl blinked, well, she supposed she could do something like that too, though it would mean spending so much more time within the borders... Maybe she would need to brush up on her regular hunting skills too, rather than sticking mostly to scavenging... unless being a scavenger was a thing? Her thoughts were interupted as Askan dismissed them and she watched as one by one the wolves began to file out one by one. She didn't have any questions, and it looked like Reyes and Askan were gonna tussle so she supposed she should make herself scarce. With a smirk and an almost silent scoff under her breath she rose and headed towards the borders. It was about time she seriously thought about what she wanted to be.
