As if the weather warming wasn't enough it seemed everywhere he went there was a delictable scent on the breeze. It was beckoning forth something within the yearling that he had never expected to find, but it also left him terrified. What if the same thing happened to Kip? What if it was like the berries on the Monadnock and he wound up with far more than he had bargained for? But the thoughts were quickly replaced as he set out on with his nose to the breeze again. He never had been a terribly cautious lad.

Finally he made his way clear of the gnarled trees of the ghastly wood and a moment of clarity came over him. Perhaps the mountain would be safer, with walls to block the winds and who on earth would think to live there anyway? It would be nice to have stone under his paws again.

But he should have kept travelling north, he should have gone back to the Monadnock... Then again, maybe even there he wouldn't be safe.
