The Best stuff don't come easy - Daesamar - Mar 18, 2018 Snow crunched, pebbles tossed upward into the air as the bulky black and silver shape dashed up and along the winding trail. He paused turned and skidded through the snow with a playful yip, his lung burning as he slowed to a stop. It was cold out, the sky partially cloudy and the ground treacherous in places, but that didn’t stop the youth from participating in one of his favorite activities. Care free playing, the winter seemed to be never ending, the snow everywhere, Daesamar was sick of moping around because of it. The peak of his excitement rested ahead of him. He was high on the Mountain, it was just like his old home. Silver eyes shone as the Yearling cocked his head to the side, through the barren trees and over the Ridge, his prize laid, a snow dusted outcrop that stood out like a sore thumb, the overwhelming desire to explore it had oven taken Daesamar when he ad fist glimpsed it, the better part of the morning spent traversing the ridges and trails to get to it. He paused, panting slightly as he expelled some air, watching his breath fog up the air, his silver flecked tail wagging happily as he started up the last part of the trail. After a few moments, he stopped in the shadow cast by the massive rock jutting out. He settled down onto his haunches, eyes closing as his crooked right ear twitched, simply enjoying how far he had come and catching his breath. RE: The Best stuff don't come easy - Anaeia - Mar 18, 2018 @Daesamar She came around a jumble of rock, head lifted to gaze upon what looked like rubble. The wolf had been exploring some of the mountainside, taking in the dangers and what use it might serve her. Should the girl choose to hang around this place between travel. And so far she seemed to be taking a liking to it, enjoying the idea of the harsh conditions making it difficult for most to venture. So there should be little people to bother her. Till she spotted a mass of black just a few yards away, caught in the far reaches of her field of vision. With a slow exhale the female would shift, body slinking round to face this stranger. But she would show no signs of aggression, tail relaxed and hanging behind darkly tinted thighs. Ears slid forward in an attempt to catch a voice, should he speak. UP here the air was beginning to thin, but from where she stood there were no signs his creature belonged to a pack. RE: The Best stuff don't come easy - Daesamar - Mar 18, 2018 The first thing that alerted the yearling of another’s presence was the scent blowing on the breeze, his nose twitching as his silver eyes blinked open slowly in time to catch sight of the smaller, much smaller female. Her stature didn’t stop him from squeaking in surprise at her seemingly sudden appearance. The look of surprise was quickly replaced by one of slight embarrassment, his left ear folded back slightly while the angled right one twiched. He hoped, really, really hoped she hadn’t heard that. Daesamar stared at her for a few seconds after, blinking slowly before finally finding his voice. “H-hey.” He said quietly, unsure what else to be said, he was pretty good with conversation when he wasn't caught off guard, but he hadn't expected to bump into anyone else out here. Then yearling found his manners again as he added “I’m Daesamar ma’am, a pleasure to meet someone so...far out here.” it wasn’t a lie, the big boy was very social and had been aching to talk to someone else for the last few nights. @Anaeia ! Re: - Spirit of Wildwood - Mar 18, 2018 There is a deer that was killed by a lynx nearby. +10 Health RE: The Best stuff don't come easy - Anaeia - Mar 18, 2018 @Daesamar I apologise, she is weird... >.> She would have a single ear flick at the sound the male emitted, but from she would stand it would merely be like a cough rather than a squeak. Keeping the smidge of humiliation down and perhaps make the male feel some better. The girl was not foolish however, she didn't dare to approach any further in those moments but at the same time, she did not make a move to leave. Bright amber eyes bore into the male's fur, gathering information that would prove useful for herself. And note how he was much larger than herself in size, but no matter, even the largest ones could fall in one way or another. The snout was angled to the ground, ears forward and eyes wide as she stared at the other. Something about her gaze made others uneasy, almost like a predator about to strike its prey down. With small streams of vapour appears from nostrils, twirling with the wind and lifting towards the sky. But even as he spoke, she would remain still and silent as a statue. Words were not her forte, having lost such a skill a long time ago. But it didn't mean she couldn't respond in other ways. Minimal as they might be, her head would give a small tilt in acknowledgement. RE: The Best stuff don't come easy - Daesamar - Mar 18, 2018 Daesamar waited quietly for some form of awksnelenegt from the silent female. He blinked slowly, shallowing under her strange gaze. It was utterly unnerving on the youth, not something he had encountered before. Was she ok? Was she sick? Mute? He wasn’t sure, but the bulky boy noticed the nod of acknowledgement, he decided then that maybe she couldn’t speak. It wasn’t something he’d hold against her in that case. His head cocked to the side as he tried to figure out a way to break the language barrier. “I apologize if I startled you.” he started off with, an old habit of his, even if he had been the one that nearly pissed himself by her sudden appearance. “I wasn’t expecting anyone else out here, but I’m glad that I at least bumped into someone nice.” Of course, assuming she was nice, he prefered to give others the benefit of the doubt and hope that she wasn’t plotting to push him off the mountains or something behind that silent gaze. “I was gonna see about climbing the outcrop behind me, wanna come? The company would be nice.” He wasn’t about to let the lack of speech stop him from trying to make a friend, even if he didn’t know her name. RE: The Best stuff don't come easy - Anaeia - Mar 18, 2018 @Daesamar Rare as it was, it appeared the young male caught the tilt in response. In turn, the girl would give him a point or two for that, seeing as older wolves back at the Greater Pack didn't even notice. Or he seemed to not care, that would be more fitting for her kind. He apologised though, not seeking to startle the young woman. It was no bother, she was not fazed nor did it hit a chord. If anything it was her own fault for not being more aware that there was another in the same area as herself. But even then, it would go right over her head. Such things meant nothing. The male, Daesamar, wasn't expecting company and found her to be 'nice.' Such a funny word, foreign on her tongue but it was something she has heard before. Nice... that would take getting used to. On her terms, it would mean someone without a mark, unseen. And he was wanting to climb the outcrop. With the faintest lift of a brow, she would glance upward. The rock face, he wanted to transverse...? She looked back to him, not quite sure if the boy was serious. He didn't look built enough to handle the task, could he actually do it? Without the head tilt this time the female would simply turn away from the male, glance up then down and take the first step onto the formation. Ready to embark, not waiting for him to start as she began the slow trek. RE: The Best stuff don't come easy - Daesamar - Mar 18, 2018 Daesamar watched in silence confusion, she looked up toward the outcrop, and then back at him, before turning away. Had he said something wrong? Did he anger her with assuming she was nice? The youth wanted to whine in frustration, but then eh saw it, she planted a paw onto the start of the rocks, his frustration replaced with barely restrained excitement, it seems that now he did have a climbing partner after all. With a new bounce in the youth’s pawsteps, he scrambled through the snow toward the outcrop, just behind her. He planted a massive fore paw against the stone, looking up, he knew it wouldn’t be an easy climb. So far, nothing Daesamar had achieved in life had been easy, that was apart of the addictive thrill of pushing himself. He had played on many outcrops back home in his early life, lived on mountains all his life, could this one, snow covered as it was, be all that much different? RE: The Best stuff don't come easy - Anaeia - Mar 18, 2018 @Daesamar Moving upward the girl would have an ear set to the side, listening and waiting for the boy to follow suit. To which he did without much hesitation. Snow crunched beneath their weight, claws digging into the hard ground for traction on this little journey. She would not take the lead, however, since it was the male's idea first. So when she moved up she would stop and take a side step out of his way, amber eyes falling upon him with that eerie stare once again. She was simply a follower that enforced, not made for such a 'frivolous' activity. A cold wind swept through, fur shifting across her body and tail lifting to swish it away. RE: The Best stuff don't come easy - Daesamar - Mar 18, 2018 Daesamar was happy to follow, and absolutely horrified to lead. When the silent female stepped to the side, fear filled the youth’s silver gaze. He gulped, shallowing nervously and looking between her and the outcrop. Well, he didn’t really have much choice if he wanted to get to the top now did he? They were still near the bottom after all. He nods slowly, licking his lips as he plants a paw into the stone and take a step upward, slowly, paw step by paw step, he grew in confidence. It was just like back home, he had a decent head for heights and no fear of falling. The only thing Daesamar hadn’t incorporated into his strategy was the snow. He shifted his fore paw, confident he was on solid rock, but instead he hit a patch of ice that had been buried, yelping in surprise and scrambling as he lost his balance. |
