He needed to make another trip south—to Adeltra. He could feel it in his bones that something was wrong; that something bad had happened. It writhed deep within his gut, leaving the boy feeling anxious as he paced the edge of the lake. But he couldn’t leave without seeking out his mother—not after he’d been so distant to both her and her new whatever Lorcán was. Cyril didn’t want her to think that he was leaving. He wasn’t ready to do that, even if he was frustrated with the situation he’d been thrown into. He called for her, and only her, as he continued to pace along the edge of the water… RE: Clearwater Tarn Pack Thread - Piety - Apr 13, 2018 [dohtml] She moved swiftly and as fast she could. Concern swallowing her whole at her distant son's call. Perhaps she had been just as distant but things had swallowed her whole but she still loved him, still grew concerned when he was gone for too long or when...when his calls were only for her. As she closed in on the scene her gaze sweeping over his large form, a soft whine escaping her as she moved closer. If he would allow her, the mother would seek to push her under his neck as a careful (and perhaps even apologetic) greeting. What is it? She asked softly as she hesitantly pulled away. Her scarred features were soft but her brows drew together. What had spurred him to call? RE: Clearwater Tarn Pack Thread - Cyril - Apr 13, 2018 His gaze tightened as she approached but his shoulders sagged in relief, a sigh almost escaping him. But he remained composed, his expression neutral as she pushed against his chin. The boy pressed a soft lick against her forehead, his ears falling against his dark skull as he quickly averted his gaze once she pulled away. Truthfully he was pleased to see her—and just her. Since they had formed Clearwater the pale Santoro was almost constantly flanked by the tawny male, making it impossible for the boy to seek a few moments alone with her. But he hadn’t wanted to spend much time with her or the strange male that led at her side. The boy wasn’t against spending time on his own—in fact, he preferred it. Or he’d look for @Lenae and keep her company. Provide her with snacks and lacklustre conversation, as it was mostly one-sided (on her part).
“I need to go south,” he announced, his expression finally softening as he chewed subconsciously on his bottom lip. “I… I dono how to explain it but I feel like somethin’ bad happened.” That Adeltra needed him just as much as he needed her. There was so much to tell her but Cyril had a feeling he wasn’t the only one with news to share… RE: Clearwater Tarn Pack Thread - Piety - Apr 13, 2018 [dohtml] She hated seeing him go. Hated the way fear gripped her when he was gone. With her hormones all out of whack now too, she imagined she would become impossible to deal with in his absence. When it came down to it she would give all of this away if it meant that Cyril would be happy. He was just asking for a trip though, wasn't he? Her unraveled emotions getting the best of her. So she sucked in a deep breath and composed herself for both of their sakes. You know I won't deny you a trip south Cyril and I especially won't deny you one if you feel something bad has happened. She didn't know how he might know. Perhaps he had dreams like she once had or maybe it was just a fleeting feeling that he needed to check on. Just promise me you'll be safe and that you'll come home? She asked softly as her good ear leaned back towards her skull. She felt guilty and like her attention being elsewhere might drive her dearest son away. The Santoro could feel her gut twist and clench at the thought of it (that or she was having a wave of morning sickness). RE: Clearwater Tarn Pack Thread - Cyril - Apr 13, 2018 For a fleeting moment Cyril worried that his mother wouldn’t let him go—but it wouldn’t stop him. He would have gone south with or without her permission, he just felt better receiving it before making the trek. Made him feel less guilty. He waited, impatiently, for her response with his lips drawn tight and a submissive expression painted across his handsome features. It was just a trip—the Kael-Santoro had every intention of returning to the mountain. With both his mother and his friend expecting litters Cyril wanted to make sure he was there for both of them (and their children). He just didn’t know how long the trip south would be. It would depend on whether his gut feeling was right or wrong.
His lips curled in relief as she responded after a brief pause, her voice soft with concern as she agreed to his trip. Just promise me you’ll be sae and that you’ll come home? He nodded sharply in response to her words, his tail wagging gently behind him as he pressed his nose to her cheek. “I promise,” he hummed into her fur before he pulled away, his yellow gaze soft as he studied her pale features. “I shouldn’t be gone longer than a week.” Three days down, one day with Adeltra, and three days back up. Maybe two days with his friend—once again it depended on what he discovered once he arrived at the willows. “Thank you,” he added with a soft, lop-sided grin before he applied a hasty lick to her chin before turning on his heals and starting his journey down the mountain, to the south…
RE: Clearwater Tarn Pack Thread - Piety - Apr 13, 2018 [dohtml] She leaned into his touch as a small smile broke her worried features. Just a week. It would feel like a month or two but she'd make it. Keep herself busy with small tasks and little trips in the mountains. She'd do whatever to keep her mind off the time. When he pulled away she already felt herself missing him. It was hard but at almost a year old (one rough, turmoil filled year) she couldn't mother hen him forever. Of course. She hummed in response to his thanks. As her dark-furred son walked away she called out at the last moment, Love you! It was only then that she decided to take her own leave. Perhaps she could seek out @Cheedo for some company or even check up on the expectant @Lenae. -pi's exit- RE: Clearwater Tarn Pack Thread - Lenae - Aug 16, 2018 Just Lenny's reaction to the change in leadership. She's angsty as always.
[dohtml]The Tarn was changing and Lenae didn't know what to think of it. She trusted @Cheedo of course, regarded her as a close friend but...This wasn't what she had signed up for. All this shuffling around, leaders vanishing and stepping down hardly granted a sense of stability. She was already on edge, felt like she was idly floating through life, weightless, and this certainly didn't help. Lenae paced back and forth outside of the communal den. What was she supposed to do? This place had once felt so safe, a sorely needed haven, but now she wasn't so sure. She of course liked the fact that the Tarn was small, that it was full of familiar faces, but was it natural for the pack to be so...stagnant? Where were the fresh faces, the sense of change and momentum? It was no one's fault, never would Lenae ever lay the blame at someone else's paws, but she couldn't help but feel as though she'd stumbled into yet another mistake. RE: Clearwater Tarn Pack Thread - Cheedo - Aug 16, 2018 @Lenae [Dohtml] It was something that she never thought would ever happen in a million and one years. She was the leader of the tarn and maybe she was panicking just a little. She had never expected Piety would heed to step down but Cheedo wasn't about to let her alpha down, not when she was needed the most. It would if course mean she would have to spend more time at home but she felt she could do that. There was another important thing that she had to do and make sure everyone was okay with the change. When she came to the main den she found Lenae and felt she would get a good place to start. Maybe if she spoke to some of her packmates it would make her feel better and then too if they were having some of the same reactions as she was. “Hello Lenae, how are you doing?” [/dohtml]RE: Clearwater Tarn Pack Thread - Lenae - Aug 16, 2018 you've left yer bold tag open <3
[dohtml]What a question. Lenae ceased her pacing as her ears flicked back, her eyes widened. For a long, dreadful moment she wasn't quite sure what to say or do. Her first instinct was to lie, to claim that everything was fine, as good as it could be. But Cheedo, her friend, deserved so much better than that. But she couldn't say that all of this unsettled her either, there was no way she could explain her thoughts without making it seem as though it was all Cheedo's fault. It wasn't that Cheedo was now leading, it was that Piety no longer thought she was in a state to do so. That's what bothered the little Selwyn. "I'm....I'm worried, Cheedo."She eventually admitted, her voice shaky and gaze downcast. "For the Tarn. For our future." |
