[BWP] Don't forget to write - Askan - Apr 27, 2018 Askan is approaching DS' borders from this direction. He's closer to Secret Falls than he is the lake, but you know what I mean.
[dohtml]Any and all DS woofs welcome. Scout dem 1/3 For some time Askan had assumed that the coyote issue was exclusive to Secret Falls, that for some reason or another they had decided to amass so close to his home, a pack that was anything but weak and struggling. But why though? It just didn't make a lick of sense, it wasn't as if the mutts were flinging themselves at their borders day in day out, like waves crashing against a shore line. Aside from a couple of incidents beyond the Edge's territory- of which resulted in a few stern words aimed at his subordinates- things were okay. Not great, but not terrible. Just annoying and frustrating, which actually-scratch that. Things were shit. Askan would scruff each and every coyote if he could, bite down hard till he tasted their blood on his tongue. But....there were an awful lot of coyotes around these days. He liked a challenge, saw himself as unshakeable, able to do pretty much anything (except fishing) if he put his mind to it, but even he knew it would be a waste of his time and effort. If he wanted the pests gone then he'd have to take another approach, force them to move somewhere else. Just not north, or even south for that matter, because even Askan wasn't that much of a douchebag. Though @Reyes had made his distaste for this little scouting trip known-often and quite loudly, with an espangly curse or two thrown in for good measure- Askan paid little heed. Reyes could bitch and moan as much as he liked, this needed to be done. First and foremost, Askan needed to know how far the mutt's reach had spread and two, maybe he was a little, teeny wheeny bit worried about Driftwood Surge. From all the scents that had clung to Lach's pelt the last time they'd spoken it was pretty obvious his pack was doing well, plenty of able bodies and all that. But quite a few of them had smelled young, inexperienced. Not the sort of wolves you wanted, rather needed, when or if shit hit the fan. And so, Askan continued north-west. He didn't know the exact location of Lach's pack but he knew he'd smell it when he got close enough, for now he let the shadow of the mountains be his guide. Slowing a trot, Askan let out a long, if not brusque huff. He was bored out of his mind, this- you know, rather than his blatantly obvious lack of manners- was why he could never be a scout. It was all so dull, moving from point a to b with nothing in between. He half wanted someone to try and jump his arse, only to break up the monotony of his day. Askan & Reyes
[/dohtml] RE: Don't forget to write - Mako - Apr 29, 2018 Sure, Mako could smell the coyotes increased presence and he saw plentiful evidence of them out in the wilderness, but so far had the luck to not run into any of the little beasts in the flesh. For that reason, he wasn't terribly concerned about leaving the safety of the borders behind. Though they had wicked sharp teeth and claws, given his stature, Mako was quite sure he could squash a coyote simply by sitting on it. The thought brought an amused snort out of him as he twisted through the forest towards the lowlands. The prospect of coyotes out here didn't bother him in the least. What was concerning was the scent of other wolves on the wind, the monochrome male pausing to scent the air. He moved a little faster now, a little more purpose in his stride as he set a course for interception. Maybe coyotes weren't worth his time, but it was always worth seeing what other wolves were up to, finding out whether they might be friend or foe. The Coho stopped once he finally caught sight of a dark coated wolf headed his way. He was quickly realizing that now he'd found them, he didn't really know what he was supposed to do. Mako's head cocked to the side curiously, looking at him as he inhaled deeply, and picking up notes of moss and earth, a little like pond water. Ahh, he smelled like that territory down south. Why was he headed up here, though? Mako seized up a little in a bid to not look as nervous as he felt, instead just looking like he had a stick up his ass. He cleared his throat, finally managing to say, "You looking for something?" Re: - Spirit of Wildwood - Apr 29, 2018 There is a deer carcass being picked over by three coyotes. They spot you and become territorial of their kill. RE: Don't forget to write - Askan - May 01, 2018 Looks like we'll be needing a third! Another DS woof perhaps? Or SE, not fussed.
[dohtml]Scout dem 2/3 For once, it seemed as though the world was willing to cut Askan a little slack, as sure enough a stranger emerged from the forest. For a long, heavy, moment Askan stared them down, unblinking, as he took in their form and posture. Out of habit he held his shoulders rigid as stood proud and tall-only to still be several inches shorter than the stranger. Fucking giant. Askan's tail lashed out to the side in an unintentional show of annoyance, but he gritted his teeth and forced it back into line. No use in throwing a pissy-fit over something so futile, there were better things to get angry about. They, whoever they were, clearly didn't quite know what to do with themselves. They fidgeted-and most tellingly hesitated- whilst Askan stood still and cut right to the chase with no delay. The stranger had clearly beat the Edge Lord in the size department, but as things stood Askan trumped him when it came to age and experience. "Driftwood Surge. Where is it? It felt pretty safe to assume he was one of Lach's, but if he wasn't then Askan would- his ears tipped to the side as a frown shoved it's way onto his face. He parted his lips, about to ask if the yearling had brought company but the telltale scent of blood lingering in the air told him otherwise, made it pretty damn obvious that their company was the unwelcome kind. They emerged from between the shadowy trees, their snouts stained red and their hackles raised. Gutsy little bastards. The wind had been blowing in the wrong direction so Askan hadn't even realised there had been a kill in the area, and yet here they were, baring their teeth as though the wolves had attempted to drive them away from their prize. Well, if they were asking for trouble Askan was more than willing to give it to them. Askan & Reyes
[/dohtml] RE: Don't forget to write - Mako - May 02, 2018 There was a tense moment where the stranger appeared to be sizing him up, but it quickly passed as he threw out a question. Ah, well that was something he could help with, at least. "Yeah, it's right-" Mako had begun to say before the sound of reedy snarls and clattering paws tore his attention towards the trees beside them. Three pairs of glittering gold eyes glared out, and Mako felt a territorial flush of irritation bloom in his gut as he noticed the blood spattered around their toothy maws. Aside from the obvious harassment, the little varmints were taking prey that rightfully belonged to the wolves. "Well, fuck," Mako bit out as his body swung towards the sudden interruption. Obviously Coyote was looking to knock Mako down a peg for thinking he was invincible against the scavengers. Though the coyotes circled, appearing to size up their competition, Mako reacted instinctively. He launched himself towards the nearest coyote with a growl, intending to sink his teeth into a scruff of tawny fur but instead chomping down on an unfulfilling mouthful of air as the lithe canine easily darted backwards, obviously drawing Mako into a trap as another snuck up behind him. RE: Don't forget to write - Emrys - May 02, 2018 [dohtml] Finally, the snow had melted and made way for spring storms which in the pale healers opinion was a good thing. The more rain the sooner the healing plants that he need would be available. He'd left the surge that morning to see how far along things were coming as far as the growth of the plants. Something he’d taken noticed of was the strength of the scent of Coyote and not just one but multiple. He thought that was weird and usually he wouldn't be unnerved by the knowledge of just one being close by. A group of them though could mean bad news for a lone wolf.
As he moved along not far from the lake he stayed extra vigilant hoping to not run into any of the scavengers. They needed the plants in the surge and he couldn't allow some coyotes keep him from gathering. So far his short journey went without incident and he was able to gauge that in a short time he should be able to gather the plants needed to do his work for the wolves of the surge.
The quietness of his trek wasn't to last long though as he caught the scent of other wolves. He moved closer curious about what was going on there with it being so close to the surge. He also took note that one of the voices seemed familiar to him though it had been a long time since he'd heard it. More pressing matters seemed to be at paw as he approached the scent of couple grew stronger as did the scent of blood in the air. Not wasting anymore time he arrived on the scene first taking in the two wolves and then the three coyotes.
He recognized Mako Immediately and the other looked and smelled vaguely familiar, that could all be worked out later. They had bigger problems to worry about. With hackles raised and teeth bared he came to stand beside his packmate ready for what would come if these scavengers didn't take the hint. RE: Don't forget to write - Jynx - May 04, 2018 Putting Jynx in here to stir things up! [dohtml] jynx myrddin Jynx had been on edge recently. And for good reason. The scent of coyotes lurking just outside the borders of Driftwood was impossible to ignore. Their shrill calls were close...bold. But as lesser creatures they knew better to step into territory ruled by a formidable pack of wolves. That still did nothing to stop her from chasing them off every chance she got. With their unusually high numbers and increasingly daring behavior, they were a threat. Lilya was due to give birth to the next generation of pups any day now and as a fellow mother, she would not allow harm to come to the expecting Alpha. Stretching her legs, she patrolled and ambled along several of the hunting paths she had discovered in her new home. Her eyes were out for easy prey which she could take down solo. Not for herself, but to gift to Lilya or store in the caches. Lachesis' mate would need all the nutrition she could get, even after the birth was over. If live prey wasn't an option, then scavenging would do just as well. The scent of freshly spilled blood tickled her nose, but that was not what made her lips curl up into a sneer of distaste. It was the offensive scent of coyotes, near the recent kill. And the latter were just a little too close to the borders for her liking. As she converged in on the thief's, the scent of a stranger and two of her pack mates grabbed her attention as well. She huffed, flicking her tail, hackles already bristling. At least the situation wasn't out of control...yet. But oh... Spoken too soon, as the russet woman arrived just in time to see three coyotes circling Mako. Luckily he seemed to be holding his own. Not noticing the backup in the form of Emrys and Askan, she raced forward in a stiff legged charge, posturing dominantly. Teeth bared in a clenching grimace, she moved to intercept the animal lunging at the large males unprotected back. Her teeth clicked, chomping down hard on the rump of the coyote, eliciting a bubbling hiss of a snarl. As she pulled away, her mark was left in the form of a small but fresh red wound. A painful reminder that these wolves were not to be messed with.RE: [BWP] Don't forget to write - Askan - May 05, 2018 [dohtml] Things were going to shit far too quickly for Askan's liking. He had only just turned to face the coyote approaching from his flank, when he noticed a flash of movement from the corner of his eye. Shit. It seemed as though two out of three of the coyotes had decided to pick on the yearling, go figure. Whilst Askan didn't even know the kids name-though he didn't really look like a kid, all tall and burly- it wasn't as though he was gonna let him get his ass whooped by a pair of mutts. Askan had chosen to ally himself with Lach, so by extension he had to play nice with his subordinates, even if it meant babysitting them a little. At the very least he knew his bro would do the same if any of his underlings got into trouble, one less thing to worry about, he supposed. Apparently though Askan had nothing to worry about, as not one, but two Surge wolves appeared on the scene, teeth bared and hackles raised. The Edge Lord glanced between the newcomers and the coyote who still lingered warily in his peripheral vision, it took him a moment or so but a sense of familiarity set in as he realised he knew them. They'd been in White Fir Notch wolves right? The hell had happened to that pack, not that Askan even cared but...whatever. It was all irrelevant now. Three wolves against two coyotes? That seemed about right, the way things were meant to be. Wolves were supposed to outnumber these mutts, it was the natural order of things...It was about time they rectified the situation so Askan could get back to the matter at hand. Knowing the other's could hold their own-or at the very least should be able to- Askan turned his attention to his coyote. Seeing as there was no @Reyes or @Pietro around to tell him otherwise he could do what he liked...handle this situation in any way he saw fit. So that's what he did. Foolishly, the coyote hadn't thought to scitter back when the other's arrived. It lurked close, easily within reach if Askan could just- he charged forward, a sudden blur of brown and white as his jaws cranked open. The mutt reeled back, eyes wide with alarm- it would have gotten away, scrambled off into the woods, if it's hind leg hadn't gotten caught on a fallen branch. With a muffled thud it fell to the floor and Askan was upon it, like an eagle swooping on it's prey. His teeth ripped into it's flesh and he shook his head frantically, intending to do as much damage he could whilst he could still hold onto its flailing form. Askan & Reyes
[/dohtml] TLDR:Askan is trying to murder his yote, feel free to have yer woofs do the same, or whatever else tickles their pickle.
RE: [BWP] Don't forget to write - Mako - May 25, 2018 @Emrys Mako growled in irritation, still intent upon the coyote that had slipped through his grasp. Though the boy was oblivious to the sneak-attack underway behind him, he heard the familiar growls of his packmates and the sounds of scuffling in his periphery. He'd have to thank Jynx later for having his back, but currently, he wasted no time in pursuing the coyote he'd singled out. Mako lunged forward again, finally grasping onto his coyote's forelimb as it stumbled against some foliage behind it. The two tumbled into the shrub, Mako closing his eyes tight against the leaves and twigs whipping at his face and growling as the little needly teeth tried to latch onto his neck in retaliation. Mako's thick mane of fur and dense muscle there more or less protected him from the brunt of it, and the pain was more irritating than anything else. It was as good an incentive as any to kill the damned thing, though. Mako was somewhat lying on top of the coyote in the bush, and in a roundabout way he finally did get his wish of sitting on one. He shoved the coyote harder against the ground, holding it down with his weight as he let go of its leg to viciously go for the throat. RE: [BWP] Don't forget to write - Emrys - May 26, 2018 [dohtml] Two of the wolves seemed to have Mako in their sights and the third after the strangely familiar man. Emrys only begrudgingly admitted that that was a rather smart plan, go after the smaller wolf first. Before he could make a move toward one of the attacking scavengers his mate showed up, he grumbled to himself. She took out a coyote trying to sneak attack Mako he left yet too it. Turning his attention back to Make he too had taken on one of the coyotes and the edge wolf also had one that he was going after.
The healer watched to make sure no one needed his help before checking the area for more that might be coming to the side of their comrades. The last thing they needed was more coyotes converging on them. Then he saw that @Jynx had let the one she'd been dealing with go and he watched at it seemed to have not learned it lesson. It turned on her and in a kokemt he was in top of it grabbing it by the scruff and shaking it violently. |
