when providence calls - Nineva - May 02, 2018

For @Neha and @Aleister.

The way along the mountain was far more crowded than she remembered. There was the pack that lived amongst the charred forest and those who were somewhere above the fog-ridden forest that were both novel to the woman, and who knew how many new additions topped the range itself. There was nothing to say that the East wasn't completely overcrowded, and she would be leading her little band into a place that had no room for them.

It was a gamble, and the older Nineva grew, the less inspired she felt to take her chances. At this point, there was little choice, however. Whatever awaited them past those ice-capped peaks, she would have to make the best of it. For herself, her followers, and her unborn children.

With a soft sigh, she put her nose back to work, and continued on, assessing the lay of the land for its ease of travel, or lack thereof.

Not surprisingly, the Vuesain wolves were on the move again. It seemed to be their adapted way of lifestyle. So much that the constant traveling was something that Neha had gotten used to. She had hoped, with Aleister, that they would find some sliver of solace in the far north. But they were wrong. They only had to go as far as the lowlands to figure that out. The OMINOUS figures of the four coyotes encircling them had been a surefire sign that the tundra was not the place for them. Any other day, Neha would have gladly taken up the lesser canids on the challenge, confident in the fact that she could take them down. But they were unusually bold, and the odds were in their favor. Four scraggly coyotes; three wolves. Outnumbered and on their own, it was not worth the fight.

She knew not what had happened to the lone gray female. But she wished her well, sending her off with a few tips in navigating the vast land of the Lore so her travels would prove just a little easier. She and her brother swung back around, diving further into lusher regions, passing by the secluded spring and emerging into the orchards. The weary look on her face said it all. She wanted to rest here for the night, even though it was still early. Eyes narrowed suspiciously, they darted rapidly, searching the vegetation for any sign of more coyotes. "Not to jump the gun...but it seems safe enough here." She addressed Aleister without turning to look his way. "What do you think?"

aleister vuesain

Thinking the north would provide the Vuesain littermates peace and quiet from the drama and hurt that lied within the mountain, the silent duo traveled until they hit the lowlands. However, the vermin coyotes found them again, outnumbering the wolves forcing the siblings to keep moving. The nomad was used to this lifestyle, though wasn't sure how his sister was handling it. The siblings didn't really know each other anymore. Aleister couldn't know if she had the same sliver of wonderlust that he inherited.

The two of them were clearly on edge, narrowed eyes searching the dense vegetation for any sign of the vermin. Without meeting his sister's gaze, he nodded in agreement, but wouldn't stop looking around and making absolutely sure they would be safe here. It was then he heard movement to the west of them. Someone's here. He murmured quietly to Neha, his body slowly in front of his sister as the soft noises of their company approached them. Aleister was prepared for another coyote attack, as his pearly whites glistened in the waning sun, waiting for them to round the bush that laid in front of him.
