It took a considerable amount of time to deliver the last pup, but when she did, another boy was revealed and she smiled at her mate through tired eyes after repeating the process of licking the child to get his blood moving and nudging him towards her stomach with his siblings. He was asking her about names as she yawned, trying to stay awake long enough to actually finish this conversation – childbirth was tiring work. In a half-asleep voice she piqued up. “Legolas?” She suggested, though she wasn’t entirely sure if she was actually suggesting it, or if some random section of her brain was. Either way, the name was out there.

Legolas. The name, as strange as it was, seemed to fit the tawny bundle of fur. The first two had been named after significant wolves in their lives but they had to have one oddity within the Stark brood. Perhaps next year, with their next litter, Lachesis would revisit his family names. Name a son after his father or a daughter after his mother. Carry on the legacy that remained in the north. Part of him wished he could return to the tundra and inform his parents of what he had created for himself. How he had become the leader of a pack and started his own family. That he had made something of himself. It’s perfect, he hummed as he nestled closer against his mate and their three children. Rest, my love, he added as he pressed a soft, comforting lick to her forehead, and when you wake they’ll be food for you. There weren’t enough words to describe how proud he was of her for enduring another year of childbirth. She deserved the hours of sleep she was about to receive and Lachesis would do everything possible to ensure that she wasn’t disturbed. Which was why he would wait until she succumbed to sleep before slipping away to bring her something warm to eat…
