Merrily we fall out of line - Jenessa - May 31, 2018

RE:Violent thunderstorms overtake Relic Lore.
All of CWT wolves are welcome! Come meet lil Jenny. Special tags for daddy @Odin , auntie @Cheedo , cool-guy @Cyril and g-ma @Piety
I'd prefer this not to take too too long so I'll probably skip if the thread slows down

Jenny liked the dark place well enough, but when her big was away there was only so much the ashy girl could do to amuse herself. With a dramatic little sigh, she pawed at the earthy ground, kicking up dust till it got in her eyes and made them water. She shook her head so fast she felt dizzy and then stumbled to the side, her balance temporarily lost. She was bored! And hungry! As if to prove her point her stomach rumbled and gurgled, she hadn't seen or even cuddled her big in what felt like an eternity! Where had she gone? Puppy blue eyes scanned the earthy den, but of course, as always, there was nothing that caught her interest.

It hadn't been so bad when the other, smaller one was around. He didn't do much, except sleep and squirm but at least then she had someone to play with- or rather pester. But he was gone and now she was all alone. Well little Jenny would no longer stand for it!
With a big huff and stompy footsteps, Jenessa made her way to the den's entry way and without delay or hesitation she stepped over the threshold. For the first time in her short life she entered the real world.

It was dark out, not unlike the dimness of her mother's den, storm clouds blackened the sky with the promise of thunder and rain. But as things stood it was the quiet before the storm, peaceful in a way Jenny's mind wasn't yet able to understand. She was surrounded by browns and greens, unlike anything she had ever seen and in the not so far distance there was something big and blue. She had to go check it out! Right away!

RE: Merrily we fall out of line - Cheedo - May 31, 2018

Things seemed different in the tarn at least for Cheedo, she didn’t know what had brought it on but she felt less pressured. She still went out and hunted and did her patrols, that was what she was on her way back from. With it getting warmer she preferred not to be working in the heat of the day. Instead she liked to be curled up in her little divet in the ground. She'd dug it out herself so that it would keep her cool once it became really hot outside. Even under the trees of the forest it could still be rather warm.

She was ready for a nap by the tarn, with the break in the thunderstorms that had come through the area, after getting a drink, a nice rest after working so much over the past months. She wanted to get more rest before the whole pack was having to keep tabs on the pups as they explored their home.

It seemed she was too late though, as she passed by Lenae’s den she noticed a pup. She'd yet to see what the woman's pup looked like but there was no mistaking that this one belonged to the shy woman. Cheedo had been keeping her distance after it had been made rather clear by not only Piety but Cyril as well that her help nor anyone else’s had been needed. The tawny woman looked around for Lenae but couldn't see her. She sighed not wanting to stick her nose in again and getting yelled at or growled at again.

Instead of going to stop the pup she just remained by a tree watching to make sure it didn't hurt itself.

I'mma hop in again, but other's are still welcome to join!

There was so much to see! It was almost a little overwhelming for the pup. Should she run here or there first? This way or that way? Jenny ended up twirling around in a circle, unable to contain her excitement. All the days prior to this one seemed so dull in comparison, sleeping and drinking were nice and all but this was more than she could ever imagined. Stumbling to a standstill her eyes landed upon a tawny figure-which of course she (naturally) assumed was her Mother. With an excited yip she charged, or rather toddled, along as she narrowed the distance between them with clumsy puppy footfalls.

Where had she been? How dare she abandon her in her time of need! Jenny had every intention of letting her Mother know just how annoyed she would, that's right she'd tug at her ear so hard it would fall off! But first Jenny had to get herself some yum to settle her stomach, she was still awfully hungry after all.

Thundering to a stop, Jenny reared up onto her back paws as she licked and kissed at her mother's chin. She was mad, very much so, but she still loved her terribly. Not to mention her Mother always fed her after kisses, that's just how it worked. Worming her way between a pair of tawny legs, Jenny stared up at tawny tummy before her- wait a second! Where was the yum? Her nose wriggled and twitched but the scent of milk never reached her nose. Nothing, nada. A true travesty! She wanted the yum and she wanted it now!

Jenny squared her shoulders and dug her paws into the dirt as she let out the mightiest bark she could muster. How very dare this happen to her!!

He'd only snuck off for a quick drink, he could have sworn Jenny was asleep, but apparently he wasn't so great at this parent thing. It was only when he saw Cheedo being accosted by the black blur that that he realised what had happened. He flinched, Oh man, Lenae was gonna throw him off a cliff, Cheedo would probably help. His mother and Cela would if Jenny had been theirs.

The Archer lowered his head and allowed his tail to wave out behind him, bumping his shoulder against Cheedo's with a thankful grin before moving to intercept the pup. Sliding a paw into her way so that she would collide with his leg, he stumbled and flopped dramatically, blocking her path any further. "Aww, y'got me!" He declared rather dramatically, rolling just enough to expose his belly and throat to the small bundle and unwilling guardian while doing his best to keep his one eye on the child. His tail thumped against the ground, hoping it would be enough to distract her, at least until her mother returned. He had to try and get her back inside before Lenea noticed.

Cheedo had thought she would be safe from her vantage point by the tree. The pup could play until Lenae returned or came out of the den, the tawny woman assumed the new mother wasn't in the area. She would watch and make sure nothing happened and the she saw the pups eyes move toward her. It was all over with as it made its way as quickly as it's little stubby legs toward her. Her first instinct was to turn and run but she couldn't do that to the child so she stayed rooted to the spot.

The licking of her chin didn't bother her and in fact she bent her head to gently nudge the pup that she now realized was a girl in the side. She watched the child as she made her way between her front legs, “What are you doing little one?” She said to the pup tight before the pup started barking at her? Cheedo assumed which caused her to back up a little. Before she could comfort the pup or quiet her Odin appeared. She smiled at the bump he gave her, “It's nothing,” she whispered because she hadn't minded occupying the pup while her parents were away. She also didn't mind the antics of pups which meant the barking.

As she watched the father with his daughter Cheedo sat back on her haunches against the tree to watch the interaction.

Bring the noise

The tawny big's words were kind. Jenny couldn't quite understand what was being said but she got the sense that the stranger wasn't taking her seriously. She was mad and hungry! It was no laughing matter, there was no time for smiles or tail swishes, she wanted to be fed, stat. Jenny barked again, lurching forward as her little puppy teeth chomped on empty air, it had to be the least threatening display ever to be made on this fine earth.

Jenessa wasn't getting the response, or the goods she wanted so she had to up the ante. She'd just been about to yell even louder this time when a familiar figure entered the scene and rather promptly dropped to the floor. Now this was a big she knew! Not as well as the yum-provider but all the same, she thundered- or rather toddled- over and promptly began clambering all over him. Her tail wagged gleefully all the while, as to mark her victory. She had defeated the big! All by herself too!

So what now? Surely something was supposed to happen next. Would she get some sort of prize? Some yum? She certainly hoped so.  Kneading her paws into his neck, Jenny leaned down and tugged at one of his ears. From there she could see the hole where his peeper was supposed to be. Her favourite big had two, but he only had one? How strange.

She was quick to take the bait, and he couldn't help himself, adding dramatic sound effects for every move she made, lots of oofs and ahhs with dramatic, thwarted expressions. When she dug her sharp teeth into his ear, well, that one actually did hurt and he had to grit his teeth together to hold back the genuine yelp that threatened to break free, "Now now Nessie," He had a feeling Lenae would frown and the girl would probably grow to hate it, but it seemed like a fitting nickname for another Archer princess, even if she never took the name. "Yer can't be so rough wi' an' old man!" He followed the statement with a snicker and a smirk, expecting to recieve a ribbing from Cheedo at least. "I'm sure yer ma jus' went ter get a drink, she'll be back soon."

Odin showed up just in time to save her from little Jenny's antics though she didn't mind them much. It was very clear the pup was upset about something which Cheedo felt had to do with Lenae. She sat by the tree watching father and daughter play a smile across her lips. In her mind though she thought about her own pups and if she would ever have any of her own again.

Ears came forward as Odin spoke of being an old man bringing her from her thoughts. She scoffed, “You are certainly not that,” she stated a knowing smile crossing her maw. She'd thought it would be a little awkward between her and Odin after what they'd shared but it wasn't and she was glad for that. Raising to her haunches she moved toward the pair and gave Jenny a lick on her crown, “I'm sure your mother hasn't gone far,” she said before looking down at Odin, “Nessie is cute.”

Bring the noise

The sky flashed white, it was soon followed by a boom so loud it rattled around Jenny's chest. She flinched, Da's ear fell from her mouth as she stared wide eyed, her mouth hanging open, a little o-shape. She wasn't scared-well, maybe just a little- but what was that? Clambering off her Da's bulky side she planted her paws firmly on the ground and stared up at the sky, waiting to see if it would light up again.

She wasn't left waiting long.

Jenessa didn't flinch this time, instead she scampered back over to her Da's side and bumped her head against his dark coat, just in time to cover her ears from worst of the big boom. By the time she glanced back up the sky had darkened, storm clouds rolled in over the horizon, blotting out the blue and replacing it with greyish black- just like her Da's fur! Something cold and wet plipped down onto her nose, Jenny squeaked in surprise and squinted as she tried to stare down at the end of her nose, only to flinch again when it-whatever it was-landed in her eye.

"Uhhhh!" She moaned, shaking her head as she tried to shoo away the hurty feeling in her eye. "Nuhh."

She stumbled to the side and in clumsy puppy fashion tripped over her own overgrown paws. She landed with a thud and laid there for a moment, a little stunned as even more cold wet stuff began to fall. Her coat was quickly getting wet and Jenny didn't know what to make of it.

Odin hadn't been too worried about things being awkward with Cheedo, but then again, Odin didn't worry about much. When she came closer and declared his daughter cute he managed a smirk, "Thank th' old gods she takes after 'er mother, hey?" Truth be told, he worried she took after himself just a little too much, and while he couldn't wait to introduce her to all the slimy things that lived in the tarn and all the fun that dropping them on unsuspecting victims was, he also worried she might target her mother and he remembered how that had gone down the last time she was in the line of fire. Maybe... just maybe he should keep that game to himself.

It seemed their playdate was about to be interupted though, as the sky began to flash and rumble with increasing frequency. She didn't quite have the guard hairs of an adult yet, and if she got soaked through he'd never hear the end of it if his mother ever caught wind so he offered an apologetic smile to Cheedo and forced himself back to his feet to try and act as a wooly umbrella for his offspring. "Oh no! Big wet! We better get back inside huh? I'll race yer!" Hopefully, if he made it a competition, she'd be more willing to go where he wished to herd her. If not, well, she wasn't so big that he couldn't just carry her, but she wouldn't stay that way for long.
