don't tell them anything - Sachiel - Jun 06, 2018 [dohtml] Encountering, and escaping, not one but seven coyotes was enough adventure for one day. Although he had taken he cowardly way out, Sachiel knew that fighting the coyotes would not have been the wisest idea. He wasn’t looking to be scolded by his leaders, even though he already knew he was going to receive a verbal lashing for patrolling beyond the shallows on his own. However, he couldn’t keep his findings to himself, even if it meant getting into trouble. He had to notify the Edge Lords of the two separate groups of coyotes he had encountered during his very long day with Mudpie. Leaving the hazel-eyed girl to her personal quest had been harder than he anticipated—mostly because he was worried that she would encounter another group of coyotes without him. But, he knew that she wasn’t (fully) stupid; she could take care of herself. It wasn’t at all because he was going to miss her, or continue to worry about her. Heck no. He’d likely forget about her in a week or so. Maybe even sooner. Except, for a boy with photographic memory, forgetting someone was nearly impossible. Especially when they had exciting memories paired alongside their faces. He meandered toward the Edge Lords’ separate den, his head hanging low as he adopted a more submissive stance. The boy knew he looked like a mess—his fur was still caked with mud—but he couldn’t wait to deliver the news. Sooner the better, he kept telling himself as he trudged through the forest, his tail swinging idly behind him. His nose twitched as he approached the entrance of the den, his chin canted to the side as he let out a soft woof to see if anyone was home… RE: don't tell them anything - Reyes - Jun 06, 2018 [dohtml] Whilst Reyes hadn’t been at his den at the moment, the bulky man had been returning there. The wolf wasn’t sure if he wanted a quick nap or simply to cast his eye over it, but all indecision was forgotten as he caught sight of Sachiel outside, head hanging low. His ears flopped backwards as he quickened his pace, woofing softly as to not startle the yearling. “Y’look like shit,” he grunted as he stopped next to the boy, finally catching sight of all the mud and grime. What the hell had happened to him? And for him to look so…not-Sachiel like? “What happened, kid? You okay?” [/dohtml] RE: don't tell them anything - Sachiel - Jun 07, 2018 scout dem 2/3
[dohtml]His ears twitched as one half of the Edge Lords made an appearance, his soft greeting causing the tawny youth to dip his head and avert his mismatched gaze. The dark male’s statement, however, warranted a laugh from the muddy yearling before he nodded his agreement. Sachiel couldn’t deny that… perhaps he should have cleaned up before seeking the presence of his leaders… whatever, it was too late now. A bath could wait until after he delivered his information. Yeah, I’m fine, he hummed in response, but not before a heavy sigh caused his shoulders to fall. First, I wanted t’say apologize for goin’ out on my own. That was stupid. I shoulda asked someone t’go patrollin’ with me. He figured it was best to get that out of the way. Ran into a few more ‘yotes. Two separate groups—one in the ferns, and one close to the rapids. A dark frown creased his tawny features as he spoke, his tail flicking with frustration behind him. Met a loner before seeing the first group and we took off—figured it wasn’t worth the fight—only to discover a group of four ‘yotes at the rush. Sachiel had impeccable luck. They seemed pretty territorial; it’s possible that’s where they’re based out of. He glanced down at his muddy appearance before returning his attention to the scarred male: We headed down the river ’n used the mud to mask our scents. Didn’ wanna bring 'em back here. Or fight ‘em. Not without the pack. The Edge Lords didn’t raise no fool. RE: don't tell them anything - Askan - Jun 07, 2018 [dohtml] Stupid tree rodent. One day it's attention would lapse and Askan would catch the slippery bastard but till then the score was 0-3. It squeaked and chattered, safe in the higher branches of the pine tree. All Askan could do was glare and dodge the twigs and sticks it tossed his way. Whatever, it wasn't even worth his time. With a flick of his tail- one last fuck you, for the time being anyway- he turned and left. Askan wasn't left to his own devices for long. Soon enough he came upon his mate and Sachiel-who looked like he'd rolled in shit, and then some. The Edge Lord's nose wrinkled as he strode into sight, his tail swishing in a lazy greeting. He only caught the tail end of the yearling's words, something about rolling in mud and avoiding a fight. At first he assumed that Sachiel was talking about loners but he knew the kid was more than capable of dealing with such a situation. Then what? It wasn't hard to imagine what the issue was. "Fucking hell." He groaned, tipping his head back, the very image of drama. "I was at the glade nearby, a little north. The wind blew and it stunk of them, had to be at least a dozen. Maybe even more." Perhaps it was time they organised a raid... He'd have to talk to Reyes about it, see what the hubber thought. "Well done Sachiel." Askan offered the yearling a pleased nod of his head. See this was all he wanted, to be kept in the know. It wasn't so hard, was it? "You did good." RE: don't tell them anything - Reyes - Jun 17, 2018 [dohtml] A dozen? Reyes gave his mate a sideways look as the man approached, wondering idly if anyone ever taught the guy to count. It did seem like they had far too many interlopers lately, especially given everything he thought he knew about coyotes, but still. Even wolves didn’t pack up to that size, and they were social animals. (In theory, anyways.) He bit his lip and resisted the urge to sigh, instead glancing between the pair, suddenly feeling like a third wheel. Or like he’d missed the first half of this conversation. Or that he evidently couldn’t be trusted to talk to packmates. Or maybe like he was letting that ugly corner of his brain do the talking for him again. “Guess ‘ll go scoutin’ around out there, see if they really did build a den.” What a pain in his ass. “You have anything to eat since you been back, kid?” [/dohtml] RE: don't tell them anything - Sachiel - Jun 19, 2018 scout dem 3/3 [dohtml] They weren’t mad. That was all that mattered to the tawny yearling. His dads weren’t mad. Instead they were pleased with his work—hell, he’d even gotten rare Askan-praise! He blinked slowly, dumbfounded by the reaction he had received. The dark duo seemed more peeved by the abundance of coyotes than Sachiel’s solo mission, which worked to his advantage. No punishment—yet. But what startled the agouti most was that Askan had mentioned he had heard a group of them at the nearby glade. At least a dozen?! His lower jaw popped open slightly as his ears swept back against the back of his crown. He couldn’t stop the top of his snout from wrinkling with disgust. What had attracted so many coyotes to the Lore? Did the western side have the same vermin problem, or were they coyote-free? They were questions he wanted answers to but did not know if he wanted to seek those answers. Not if it would involve him losing skin over a few pesky coyotes. I can come with you, if y’want? Show you where we saw them? He would mind enduring the walk a second time. Maybe he’d even bump into Mudpie again. His attention snapped back to Reyes as the scarred male mentioned food and he gave a quick shake of his head in response. Not yet, went to find you two first. That was more important. Not like Sachiel would forget what he had seen—it was impossible for him to forget anything—but he wanted to relay it while it was still fresh in his head. RE: don't tell them anything - Askan - Jun 19, 2018 [dohtml] Askan shot Reyes a side eye look as well. Was he in one of his moods again? The Selwyn couldn't complain as he was often grumpier than a grizzly, but sometimes it was a little difficult for him to track down the reason his mate was so pissy. He wasn't stomping about and cursing in...espanol but he looked far from happy. Were the coyotes raining on his parade, or was there something else going on in his mind that he hadn't bothered to tell Askan about? Honestly, he wouldn't have been surprised. He'd ask later when they were alone, probably after he'd softened him up with a nap, or something equally as sappy. "After you've eaten we can all go together." Askan decided, his tail waving behind him a couple of times before it settled. What? He was spending time with folks he liked, sue him. Still, he couldn't help but wonder if this issue was pandemic to all of the Lore, whether other packs were getting pestered day in day out. He rolled his shoulders as he took a step forward, there was a cache not so far from their location, assuming everyone had been doing their jobs it probably had something for Sachiel to chew on. Maybe a freshly caught rabbit if they were lucky. "Met a girl who looked as though a bird had shat on her face." He mentioned casually, as though he had just remembered. "Made herself scarce when the coyotes started making a racket." Having arrived at the cache he began pawing at the ground, pushing back the dirt till cache's treasures were revealed. Not one rabbit but two, and from the smell of it caught by their resident rabbit-hunter Rem. Scooping them up, Askan dropped one at Sachiel's feet than the other at his mates. If he'd done anything to offend his mate then...this was his way of trying to make it a little better. He didn't really know what else to do. "Tuck in." Askan announced, settling back onto his haunches. He was willing to wait, maybe eat the scraps Reyes didn't want. RE: don't tell them anything - Reyes - Jun 20, 2018 [dohtml] “I—” Okay then. Reyes supposed everyone could fucking invite themselves on his scouting mission. Should he yell out for Percy and Remington too? His ears twitched slightly against his skull, but he did not further his comment, instead allowing Askan to herd the yearling towards one of the caches. It seemed a bit mother hennish, but the alpha was 99.986% certain that if he voiced something even remotely similar, the resulting argument would be approximately 12 times worse than whatever undercurrent as currently flickering through his own veins. So he shut his mouth, teeth clicking, and allowed Sachiel to eat. And Askan to talk. The flickering between Chatty Cathy and Silent Sam were a perplexing conundrum at best, and an absolutely vexatious trait at worst. So he sat in silence for a few moments, rolling over Askan’s recent news, and watching the pair of wolves. “Maybe we should check in on Driftwood Surge. And Wild Rye Fields, if we’re feeling generous.” He held nothing against Adelayde, specifically. It was just far. Silver eyes narrowed slightly. “We’ll send a pair of scouts. No more wandering off like some big shot all alone, comprende?” [/dohtml] RE: don't tell them anything - Sachiel - Jun 27, 2018 [dohtml] The longer he remained in their company the stiffer his fur began to feel due to the collection of mud that clung to his tawny pelt. Maybe he should have bathed in the shallows before seeking out his grumpy leaders… but it was too late for that now. He would take a dip in the cool water once he was finished relaying his message (and patrolling the border with them… unless they instructed him to rinse off first). He nodded gently in response to Askan’s words—food was definitely a good idea. Now that the adrenaline was wearing off Sachiel was realizing how hungry he was. Going on a patrol without a quick bite to eat wasn’t the best idea. So he followed them to the cache without complaint as he struggled to stop his stomach from growling with hunger. His ears twitched at the golden-eyed Selwyn’s comment about a girl who looked as though a bird shat on her face. Boy, did Askan ever have a way with words. But, the description triggered a recent memory of a girl with brilliant hazel coloured eyes. That’s the girl I was with, he responded after Askan had tossed a rabbit at his paws. She tried rushin’ the first group but I got her outta there before she could get either of us in trouble with 'em. His lips curled upward at the memory. His mismatched gaze swept over to the scarred leader as he mentioned the pack to the north; Driftwood Surge. I wouldn’t mind goin’, he uttered, almost shyly, before taking another bite out of the rabbit. But I don’ mind stayin’ here either. An’ no more goin’ out alone. He gave a sharp nod to assure his leader, although he wasn’t sure he could promise cancelling his solo adventures. Sachiel didn’t always like pestering his packmates to accompany him—even Hawthorne. Mostly because he worried the peppered youth was going to grow tired of him if he kept bothering her. And that was something he couldn’t allow to happen. RE: don't tell them anything - Askan - Jun 27, 2018 [dohtml] Askan gritted his teeth as his ears flicked back against his skull. Fine. For what it had been worth, Reyes might as well have slapped the proverbial olive branch out of Askan's grasp. He'd tried to be nice but Reyes hadn't even fucking acknowledged him, like he wasn't worth his time. If Gabe wanted to sulk and be pissy then so be it, Askan wasn't going to poke or prod. He could pull his own nose out of his arse, Askan wasn't going to help him. Grumpy prat. Perhaps if things had gone a little smoother he would've paid more attention to the fact that Sachiel encountered Starhale as well, as it stood he merely hummed in acknowledgement, just so it didn't seem as though he was totally disinterested. Dragging the rabbit back Askan shoved it back into the cache. He didn't really have an appetite and the Selwyn had no intentions of letting it go to waste. He covered the hole with a kick or few before his ears tipped forward to catch the tail end of Sachiel's words. Something about a trip north to check in with their northern allies. Reyes' logic was sound, but now that he was in a mood he didn't want to agree with his mate out of spite. "Hmm. Scout without me, or whatever." He grumbled, indignant and bitter. "Remembered I have to do something." It was probably for the best they had a little time apart, to let their tempers simmer down, to brood. "See you later." He flicked his tail and turned to leave."Keep me informed." Askan's exit unless stopped. |
