RE: Will it be the day? - Aurek - Aug 16, 2018

Fuzzing? Water in the eyes was serious business and besides what could he look at if he could not see anything? He thought about dumping his weight on Elyan as retaliation as his nose poked him but curiosity took over him, also with that strange scent appearing in the air, as if they had company.

Blinking and trying to see more than just blurry shapes, Aurek soon noticed he was staring at punch of coyotes staring at the two near the waterline. What a friendly looking punch it was, with that bristling fur and flashing fangs and everything. What could the coyotes be looking from the two young wolves? Was their play disturbing them somehow. "H..hello." -He said, with bit unsure tone. Four was awfully lot for just the two of them and if they proved to be hostile... which they seemed to be by all indications... the boys would be in trouble...

They didn't have time to continue to argue about what was fair and what wasn't. He and Aurek had company and they didn't look very friendly. His mismatched eyes stared the Coyotes on the shore down. It was just the two of them against the four lesser canines. Well their day of fun was ruined now.

He looked to Aurek seemed to finally realize they were the only ones at the lake. He bumped his friend in the shoulder when Aurek tried to greet them. Elyan was trying to come up with a way out of this mess, maybe if they stayed in the water the coyotes wouldn't come after them. “Do you think we can take them on?” He whispered to his friend. Elyan wasn't sure since they both seemed inexperienced in this sort of thing and it was just the two of them.

The coyotes seemed not the least interested in dialogue - was it then their intent or simply inability to understand common tongue. Elyan was weighting option of fighting it out with the four, but Aurek was not even nearly convinced they could. Sure, they were taller and bigger but it still meant two to one odds. Coyotes were predators too - and their had teeth just as sharp as the wolves did. "I.. I don wanna fight them.." -Aurek admitted, even if they were short on options.

Standing in water seemed to keep the coyotes off for now and Aurek soon realized they had advatange there. Instead of going forth, Aurek gave Elyan a pull and retreated into deeper water, just so that his legs were still touching the ground. Coyotes would not be able to stand this deep and the pale boy saw no way they would both try to swim and fight the wolves at the same time. He looked around nervously for way to escape and with the coyotes barring the shoreline, only way seemed to be taking a swim. Maybe there was isle or way around the coyotes could not follow them to.

They stood in the shallows of the lake facing four Coyotes that seemed rather intent on doing then harm. It seemed that for the moment they were safe as long as they stayed in the water but they couldn't stay there until the lesser canines gave up. Aurek voiced that he didn't want to fight them. “We've got to do something,” Elyan pointed out. The question was what if they weren't going to fight them.

The yearling knew that it would it would probably be a bad idea to go up against them, the odds weren't in their favor. “You got any ideas?” He asked just before Aurek pulled on him. Elyan didn't fight it instead following his friend into deeper water. Mismatched gaze looked for a way out of their current situation. “We could swim to the island,” which was behind them, “Return when we're sure they are gone.” It was his first suggestion, he'd see how Aurek took it before offering the other one that he had.

"Yes, that. I suddenly feel like exploring some islands." -The pale boy agreed with his friend, while continuing to reverse until water was getting so deep he could barely reach the bottom with his hind legs. Aurek held his head upright and then looked behind them. There was island over there, true - but it looked like it was really far away. He wasn't best swimmer but he was sure he could make it that far.

"Can you swim over there? I won't leave you alone here if you cant." -he asked from his friend before deciding wether or not to commit into this plan of action. Aurek had long ago vowed that he would share with Elyan everything, including trouble and hardship and if one of the boy's wasn't going to make it, neither of them would.

Faced with four coyotes they had to make a decision about what they were going to do. It was more than obvious they couldn't take them on so the only other choice was to escape. The islands further out in the lake seemed a good option since they couldn't stay in the water forever. Thankfully Aurek seemed good with the idea. “Maybe we’ll find something more interesting than what here,” he commented in regards to what his friend had said.

He was just about to turn and start swimming toward the island when Aurek spoken asking about his swimming skills. “I can swim there but can you?” He asked. Elyan wouldn't leave Aurek either if he didn't think he could make it that far. If they had to stay they would have to figure something else out.

The both boys seemed to be confident enough in their ability to make it to the island. If anything, their hesitation for the sake of other was showing how strong their bond had become over the months. Aurek would rather stand dying beside his buddy than desert him in a moment of danger - even if he was absolutely terrified of coyotes. "I can. Lets move"

Aurek retreated into water until his hind legs were no longer able to reach the bottom. By now his head was pointing skywards and he finally let go, pushing his body away from the shoreline with his forelegs before turning into swim. He could hardly turn his head to see where his friend was, but his ears would keep track of Elyan while they made their way to the island. Hopefully coyotes were worse swimmers.

Fading and archiving

With confirmation that Aurek could some it was time for them to get away from the coyotes. Woyan felt confident that they could make it to the island. It would take a lot out if them but they had to make it or face the vermin. Either way there was a risk involved and he'd rather take the risk of simming to the island.

He followed his friend into the deeper water only to begin paddling his feet once they couldn't reach the bottom any longer. He kept his head above the water the best he could as they made their way through the water toward the island.
