Signal fires - Askan - Dec 11, 2018

[dohtml]

"Not without you." Fucking bullshit, that's what that was.

Askan couldn't help but feel as though this had been a long time coming, that things hadn't been right for quite some time. It was as though a chasm had formed between them, that with each passing day it grew wider and wider till Reyes was nothing but a dark blob in the distance. Askan had made several attempts to try and fix it but his efforts just weren't good enough. Evidently he wasn't good enough, not anymore. Worst of all though, he didn't even know where things had gone wrong. Askan knew he wasn't perfect, but he never imagined that it would end like this, that Reyes would just fade away into the shadows. For what it was worth, Reyes might as well have torn his heart from his chest, ground it down into the dirt and given it an extra stomp for good measure.

Askan was not himself. Misery had a certain way of bringing out the worst in him, he was snappish and temperamental, leagues worse than he used to be. Reyes had created a monster, a ticking time bomb of barbed words and scathing scowls. Sooner or later he'd say the wrong thing to the wrong person and would ruin yet another relationship. All because he couldn't cope, because he'd been pushed too far.

Perhaps out of precaution, or because he wasn't in the right mind to deal with his pack mates, Askan steered well clear of the others. He wasn't actively vindictive, cruel and malicious, as though he wanted them to hurt as much as he did rather, he was floundering like a fish out of water. To say that he was dependant on his mate, unable to go on without him would be incorrect. How else was he supposed to react to this sudden betrayal of his trust? Simply, like a cornered and wounded animal he was lashing out.

The Selwyn stormed along through the night time forest, his tail lashing as his ears remained firmly pinned to his skull. There were no trails to follow but he wandered nonetheless, perhaps he would get lost too...

The ghost couldn't keep himself from wandering when things grew uncertain. He was not sure if they were coming or going. Or whether Neha would let them strike out on their own, leaving the rest of the Keep behind. With his mind racing with the dilemmas at hand, Aleister couldn't keep his paws still. Instead of wallowing in the stress of the unknown, the Vuesain took refuge in the forest outside where they were currently settled. Letting his paws take him, his mind began to calm with tranquility as his mismatched gaze took in the sights of the gloomy forest.

The moonless forest wrapped around him like a desired weighted blanket, his mind free for the moment absent of the issues back home. Unaware of the territory he moved through and the danger of the scent clinging to his coat could prove, Aleister followed a small game trail. Hoping that perhaps he could find a snack foolishly basking in the night air, ebony nose surveyed the area with the strong scent of hare appearing to be close.

Quick to find the source, the hunter ambushed his unexpected prey ending it's life after a small chase. Crimson blood clung to his jowls as he worked his way through the soft belly, tearing into what meat he could. The once peaceful night forest was interrupted by an angry body that was stomping through the undergrowth. Tawny ears perked as he focused on the approaching figure, the hare at his feet mostly consumed. The curious male stayed where he was momentarily, wondering what this beast looked like that tore through the forest. Stance ready in case the Vuesain needed keep his hide, there was nothing here worth fighting over now that he devoured his meal. He stayed only out of curiosity. Curiosity always killed the cat, however.

RE: Signal fires - Zev - Dec 15, 2018

He was hunting tonight, or at least that is what he had planned to do, that was until he heard something was stalking though the woods heedless of its noise or the scent the wind carried to him from a mile away. The brute hummed to himself and glared in the direction of the intruder upon his night hunt. All the prey in the near by area was dashing away,  the air was thick with tension.

Zev drew in a breath and decided he'd intercept this interluder, since he was not going to eat tonight at the very least he should be entertained. As he made corrected his path to hinder what he expected to be a lone wolf, he was confronted with a symphony of scents, perhaps this wasn't a lone wolf but he was so sure he had crossed a pack line anywhere, now he needed to know if this pack wolf could hold it's own on it's own.

The brute grinned as he stepped into the path of the oncoming wolf, he could feel the anger emanating from the wolf. This could turn out a couples of way, He might make an acquaintance or even a friend there were to few of those these days; but he was a odd wolf that most loved to hate and thus he did not care for them either, Or if he was lucky he'd get to make a blood sacrifice tonight, be it his own or the other's he'd not care. He was used to bearing the brunt of his gods anger when he did not please them.

You.... Zev called as he stepped out, As he moved into the path of the first wolf. Zev did not hold himself as a dominate might he stood relaxed almost casual, he was not inviting a fight just pursuing a whim.

Zev's nares flared and he caught the scent of another wolf, something akin to what he had be expecting in the woods tonight, a fleeting thought of having bitten off more then he could chew flitted through his mind before he forgot it, currently the odds were 1 to 1 to 1 and this was far more entertaining then he could have planned for, Something was going to have to give.

It wouldn't take much. His fuse was already lit and the timer was ticking down, even the slightest annoyance would be more than enough to set him off. If he wasn't such an emotional creature, driven by fire and thunder, he might've taken a step back and just thought about reckless this was. Realised that he was being a royal arse, just as bad if not worse than Craw had ever been. But logic and sense of mind had long gone out of the window, anyone lurking near his turf was fair game. So when he stumbled upon the scent of not one, but two wolves her saw red, or yellow. Whatever.

"The fuck you want?" He was quick to snarl, even when the wolves weren't yet in sight.

It didn't take long to find the first. The scent of blood lingered heavy in the air, strong, heady and so very tempting. Laid at he strangers paws was a rabbit, torn open with it's innards already consumed. Askan's jaw ticked as his gaze swept up to the strangers face, his muzzle stained with red. So where was the other? He squinted and looked beyond the stranger's shoulder, he was out there, close. Real close.

They were both walking a tightrope, one misstep was all it would take. In a way, Askan wanted them to take a leap. Maybe this would do him some good, he had so much frustration all pent up and nothing to do with it. His hackles were already raised as he stared down the stranger, clearly not a loner so who the fuck was he then? The scent he carried was so faint, barely even noticeable. Had the Selwyn not smelled it before it would have slipped under the radar but...he seemed awfully like a Keep wolf. Of sorts, if such a thing even existed anymore.

With a coat of coal, the angry brute was close enough for the nomad to get a good look at as the shadows wrapped around the male. Sharp words were quickly matched with a piercing dandelion gaze that stabbed his way and remained as the two sized each other up. Unable to disconnect his mismatched gaze from the stranger, his tawny ear twitched in the direction of another that appeared within the darkness. However, unlike Aleister, this stranger seemed to want to confront the irritated male though his posture said otherwise. His words were likely enough to provoke the large male.

So Aleister stayed where he was, unwilling to enter the path of either strangers, but still too interested to remove himself completely. He was curious as to what was to unfold once the sharp yellow gaze was removed from his agouti coat. He didn't realize the thoughts that plagued the coal coated male or that he recognized the pack scent on his own coat. Having been away from the Keep for a little while except to visit with his sister, the scent was faint, but still partially there. Al knew of the issues that transcended between the two packs, however he didn't remember the scent of the Edge.

The Vuesain hadn't seen his nephew Sachiel since the spring, so any connection between this stranger and his nephew were hard to detect. Keeping his posture neutral and ready to move at a moment's notice, the nomad looked on between the two males to see if anything interesting was going to happen.

This brute was unfazed by the other males demeanour, But the world Zev lived in was more often then not; surreal, and not very close to the reality he truly walked in. He smiled at the gruff tone of the other male as he settled himself before the agitated male standing in a far to relaxed manner for the emotion that flavoured the air so thickly.

Zev's eyes flicked to the males paws then up along his legs for a moment before lingering on his chest and then finally to the strikingly handsome face of the male before him until his white blue eyes cast themselves to the yellow ones of the male before him.

Zev could not help himself he answered the other's question with a statement mmMMMmmmm, You....

His eyes flicked to the other male in the vicinity he looked the male over, he secretly was jealous of the meal the other had had, so he smiled at him then returned his attention to the intense yellow eyes directly in front of him, that comment was likely to get his tail handed to him forthwith. He shifted his shoulders carefully trying to loosen the tense muscles there without drawing attention to any weakness, he was going for causal if he could.
