sound of silence - Ferreiran - Dec 17, 2018

@Natearie Sorry for the wait, he went inactive
Ferreiran loped calmly over the snow. His small paws ensured that he broke through all of it every step, but the tranquil silence all around him was soothing. His breath flowed out in crisp white mist. He slowed to a walk. He thought of words. Serenity, ethereal, oblivion. "Lum-in-es-cent," he said aloud, emphasizing each syllable. He repeated it normally. Luminescent. He said it in different tones, enjoying the way his tongue felt against his teeth, his lips. The dark wolf was no linguist, and spoke with colloquial words towards others, when he spoke to them at all, but this was different. Special. Idiosyncratic.

She awoke to a blanket of the cold white stuff in the early morning. It was back... if she could cry and pout like a child she would have. As it was she sighed and curled tighter into a ball. perhaps she should just stay here and wait for nature to take her if it was going to be the same as before it would be a long time many moons before the white stuff would gain to go away and allow for easier hunting, not that hunting was easy at the best of times.

The Red femme drew and deep breath and her head shot up from her sleeping position, she heard more of the weird noises that she heard from the other wolves in these parts but this time they were slower more determined she remained laying down but looked toward the sounds, having nothing to connect the sound to it was still gibberish to her but at least it sounded nice. She waited for the other wolf to go hoping she'd remain invisible

The smell of a wolf broke Ferreiran from his serene word-speaking. He was annoyed, but curiosity forced him to quietly follow the scent. He saw a red wolf with the look of a loner. He stayed a good distance away, close but not too close, just how he liked it. The shadow wolf studied her a bit more. She was around his age, skinny, though who wasn't these days, and just a tad bigger than he was. He could tell that she had noticed him, but hadn't called him out yet. A fellow hermit, perhaps, he thought with a smile. His bright sunflower eyes stared at her foxy markings. She was an odd creature as all were before you got to know them.

He stopped and regarded her just as she was him, she offer him a few small sweeps of her tail and then backed up three steps and turned her head as if to look behind her in reality she was saying without words, I'm no threat to you. She lay down keeping all four paws under her body ready for a quick spring should her need it and tried not to look directly in his eyes though the color of them kept drawing her gaze toward them.

Ferreiran continued staring at her. As she backed up and showed submission, he felt a rush of satisfaction but also pity. He lowered his eyes in acknowledgement of her. This, speaking without words, felt natural, like he was finally where he needed to be. It crossed his mind that she might be a mute. It seemed more and more likely as the seconds dragged on. This revelation didn't change a thing about the interaction. He released a croon of friendship so soft it was almost a purr. Their eyes met and he immediately looked back down, though he didn't quite know why.
