Here Fishie Fishie - Nia - Jan 18, 2021 RE:The sky darkens with ash from a distant forest fire. The Winter Dame
Nia had traveled out further and longer than normal. She'd been gone only a day and night, but given her mother's state it wasn't the wisest choice. She needed to recruit wolves and find a mate though. She hated leaving the woman alone but somewolf had to stay back. The Hervok Heir be dammed if her mother was the one traveling about. She trusted her to stay realitively close to the boarders while she tended to these matters. At least she hoped for such. During her trip the woman noticed the darkening skies. The sooty air and lingering smell of burnt trees. It was winter though, how could it be? She tried not to worry about the oddity. It wasn't the Woodlands in flames and she needed not to dwell. The creamy female approached the water's edge. She peered over into the frozen creek. Little boddies swam about beneath the ice. Her tail swayed with excitment as she watched them all darting about. Quickly Nia turned around to get a heavy enough stone. She brought it back and with a loud cur-plunk! the ice gave way to chilly water. It spashed up on her face and she winced at the coldness. Carefully she edged about the hole, watching and waiting. The winter dame studied the fish as they moved. Her body posed to strike at any given moment. Seizing an opportunity she dove in, reeling back with a small fish. It moved widely about in her maw. Unable to maintain control she lost her grasp. The fish flopped around on the ice while Nia pawed at it, unsure of what to do next. RE: Here Fishie Fishie - Aubine - Jan 20, 2021 It was on a whim that Aubine decided to give her brother some well-needed space. With her belly now full and her body capable of traveling farther and faster, she made a day of exploring the surrounding territories. Just to be on the safe side, she vowed that she wouldn't go too far... maybe just within earshot of an evening beckon (and she knew that Adelard would summon her "home" in due time). But, for now, her legs carried her as far as she dared. The faint smell of smoke in the air warned her of a distant fire and the darkened skies suggested she remain close to her nomadic band of friends. She thought her day-trip over twice before deciding further that she wasn't going to go in that direction to err on the side of caution. Through the Orchard and southbound beyond an impressive Beaver Dam, she found company alongside the frozen, but still gurgling Creek. Every now and then she playfully stopped to glance at her reflection, to take a lick of the backwater, and to watch the few heart-shaped leaves from the previous autumn slip from the banks and downstream. She had been doing this for a while until she heard the sound of splashing water... as if someone was trawling about or paddling around for fun (even if the latter seemed like a crazy idea in the middle of winter). Wide eyes skimmed her immediate surroundings. She squinted. There, only a few wolf-lengths away, was a waterlogged woman whose jaws were ready and open to seize her prey. Prey that was presently flopping about on the ice. Aubine's tail waved about like a banner. Wow... Her face lit up. A real fisher. "Git it!!" she encouraged. Cheerleading and sharing in other's victories had been a specialty of hers as a yearling. "Quick!!" RE: Here Fishie Fishie - Nia - Jan 22, 2021 [dohtml]
RE: Here Fishie Fishie - Aubine - Jan 22, 2021 Aubine did not even have to goad the other woman further. It seemed to come naturally. In fact, Aubine watched with wide yellow eyes as the wolf before her seized every opportunity that was presented to her: the catch, the fight, the kill. It was amazing. All she could do was yip in the other's achievement. Her tail continued to wag as she pranced closer, only stopping at a respectable distance to carry on their conversation without straight up barking or baying at each other. "Want a taste?" she offered. The masked canine could only shake her head. "No, thank you," she answered with a smile. "But, thank you. That's very generous of you." Her stomach rested comfortably in her trunk, still satisfied from the caribou she and her little band of nomadic friends had taken down. "All yours." A small pause while she considered what conversation starters to whip out... Aubine sat on her portion of the frozen riverbank, thinking while hoping that the pale-furred woman didn't mind if she looked on as she enjoyed her snack of a meal. Aha. Her eyes seemed to light up as she found her starting point, "I'm Aubine; what's your name? Do you live 'round here?" If Adelard had been around, he might have sneered at the two of them. |
