we're screaming fluff the police - Woya - Feb 09, 2021

For @Aleister only.

Usually, self preservation guided Woya above all else. Sometimes, adventure and arrogance teamed up to trump this drive, however, allowing the woman to put herself in some pretty unwise situations. Today's questionable choice led her to attempting to cross a rough section of river by way of the jagged, iced-over stones that littered and churned the water's flow.

The rapids were quick-moving enough that the creek which contained them had only frozen in sparse patches; one could still fall into the frigid current and be pulled downriver.

Still, she'd made it just over a third of the way across and there was no stopping her now. Woya was graceful, she could totally handle this.

the storm is here

Unsure what was bothering the Vuesain male this particular morning, he decided to take a breather up the mountain to clear his thoughts and let off some built up stress. His shoulders were tense as he traversed the rocky terrain that he knew all too well, the distraction wasn’t elevating the countless thoughts that rampaged through his head. So instead, the dark tawny male took a less traveled path towards the dark wood that grew along the mountain base. Perhaps something new would do the trick.

The river was close enough for him to hear the water rush downstream towards him even in the depths of winter. As he was approaching the rivers edge, his mismatched gaze glanced up to catch a sight he wasn’t expecting. He spotted another crossing the dangerous river using jagged rocks as her stepping stones. Eyes wide as he took in the scene, though she seemed to be handling it well enough as one could. He certainly wouldn’t of had the courage to try to accomplish the feat, he certainly knew the dangers of water having grown up next to it. For now, he kept his mouth shut as he didn’t want to be the reason for her falling in. He certainly didn’t feel like getting wet today...

Woya would gather her paws against the wet ice, the natural roughness and pits in the stones her only saving grace, before sizing up the next jump. Calculate, calibrate, and go for it. With a heff and a harumph she launched and landed; another one down, only five more to go.'

She stretched, lifting her neck to lengthen her spine; if she stayed stiff and braced the entire time, her muscles would lock up before she could make it across. Were she younger, Woya would've likely messed this up and possibly caused her own death. At this age, she knew what she was doing and exactly what her body was capable of, limits included.

As she rested briefly, her buff-colored eyes caught sight of something unexpected and not entirely wanted, given the precarious position she had placed herself in; another wolf. It appeared to her as though he'd been watching her, and she jerked her chin upward as her eyes narrowed.

"Tch. What're you lookin' at?" she called defiantly upward to the stranger.

the storm is here

Mismatched gaze watched as the woman calculated every movement and step she took as she crossed the raging river. Instead of casting herself into the rushing rapids already, the alabaster female was demonstrating impressive skill against the icy adversary. Aleister was sure he would of already made a fool of himself and landed himself in the icy depths of the water beneath her claws. The Vuesain was pleased to see her paws grab purchase of the next available step stone, meaning he would not have to play hero and fetch her from the rapids just yet.

Light honey eyes focused upon him, her gaze piercing and demanding as her chin lifted to the sky before throwing her question upon him. Despite her size, she easily made others feel smaller than they were. Her fiery personality was evident even if neither her coat or gaze depicted such things. That was pretty impressive. He answered with a tilt of his muzzle behind her signaling what he was referring to. Aleister doubted many wolves could still be keeping their coat dry. Certainly wouldn't have been the case for him.

Woya wasn't expecting a compliment. She paused a moment, before allowing a crooked smile to pass over her lips, one small fang poking out. Damn right she was impressive.

"I know," she answered casually, taking her eyes off of him to complete her next leap. Once again, the motion was executed to perfection, despite the added pressure of an audience. Woya was one of those rare personalities that shone under attention's spotlight, rather than withering in it's presence.

She covered yet another stretch of river before stopping to rest for a second time. Shaking slush from one hind foot, she eyed the stranger once more from the corners of her eyes, face still angled away from him. His dial was interesting, eyes both soft and complimentary despite their difference in hue. That ran in her family, actually.

"You live 'round here?" she finally faced him once more.

i’m a little unsteady

The simple statement brought forth a toothy grin from the woman, a smirk lifting his ebony lips in turn before she casually accepted it. Again with ease and grace she was able to further her way across the river using the jagged mountain rock. Truly impressive in the dead of winter. The other seasons didn’t hold as much danger overhead, plus hypothermia wouldn’t be a worry either. But winter held many more ways to die, more miserable ones as well. She had some balls to say the least.

Honey eyes didn’t directly look to him while she continued her rapier way across the river, though he could sense the small amount she allowed him to see. Her cream head was turned away from him, but her intense gaze was hard to miss. She was scrutinizing him, looking him over seeing what she could find out about him before she arrived to the riverbank. Throwing him another question, the Vuesain decided to settled upon his haunches as he waited for her journey across the river to be complete. I do actually, over on the mountain, he replied, his mismatched gaze watching her carefully. She didn’t seem much younger than him, her body filled out with mature curves and stature. What about you?

The mountain? Woya's ears twitched. That sounded familiar, she realized, as the same thought hit her as when the all-black wolf had told her he was from up there; who on Earth would want to live that far away from the ground? And these were year-round snow-capped mountains, she could tell by their height.

"Nah," she answered, without giving him anything more. Her excuse, as if she needed one, was another jump from jutting rock to jutting rock. This time, her back leg slipped out from under her, but she was quick to regain her balance. Her fur bristled; if this guy said one word...

"You uh, know an Ash, then? Black fur, green eyes."

She didn't wait for an answer before lunging forward once more, and then again. Her muscles were beginning to tire, but she was thankfully only two more jumps away from snowy ground and a well-earned rest.

I guess i'll sit around and medicate

Apparently she wasn't from around here, so it seemed he was meeting yet a new wolf that happened upon the Lore. Lately it seemed he was meeting many wolves that were once here and were now just returning to the now abandoned Lore. All of them didn't expect it to be so desolate. His gaze watched her as she once again made it further across the rock bridge, though this time she wasn't as graceful as she had been with the previous landings. However, she was quick to recover to the point where she changed to subject of their conversation almost in the hopes he didn't notice her slip up. The Vuesain was silent, keeping his amusement to himself.

She asked about an Ash followed by a description which matched a particular Eastfall male that resided within the Cove. I know a Nash with that description. Overly-friendly young kid? Nash certainly would try to make friends with anyone even if they tried to bite him in the face. Clearly, he took after his mother in personality as she was one of the kindest wolves he's ever met. He wouldn't be surprised if Nash had met this gruff woman, he just hope she didn't bruise him with her intense persona.

Woya took another small break, rolling her shoulders and twisting her head to stretch out her spine, before stretching each leg all the way to the toes, one by one.

Nash. That's right, it had been weird, like a harsh onomatopoeia. Very unlike the names she was used to, especially back home, which were often soft and lacking in pronounced consonants. Overly friendly, this guy called the other. Woya snorted softly to herself. She had a very strong urge to look the other wolf square in the eye and say something along the lines of he's a punk, just to see if that'd get some kind of bigger reaction out of the watchful man. She chose to hold it in.

"That's one way to put it," was what the woman went with instead.

Woya took a breath, and exhaled smoothly, before nimbly navigating the final two leaps that kept her above the rapids. At last her paw pads sunk into snow, the bank falling away in white clumps as her weight impacted with it. She couldn't help the smile that swept broadly across her face, satisfied to have another successful daredevil moment under her belt.

"You two got a pack up there or somethin'?"

Maybe it wasn't so empty here, and maybe this guy had his ear to the ground and would know if a certain @Huddy had passed by...

Mismatched gaze looked on after the cream colored female as she made another advance across the river rocks. Again she was graceful with her movements, careful with every inch of of body and how she moved it. Impressed was an understatement for what Aleister thought, he was still surprised she wasn't in the water yet. Apparently, she was talking about Nash as she implied he was right in his description, in a way.

Still staring, making her final leap across the rocks, she at last made it upon solid ground. Eyebrows raising in surprise, he gave her a nod of congratulations for her dare devil feat at defeating the nearby river's dangerous entrapment. It didn't take her long to shoot out a question as soon as she settled upon the snow bank. "Almost," he answered, "everything is coming together, so should be official soon." He was trying to make sure he was offically ready to become a leader and that his paws weren't suddenly going to become cold. "You just wandering around or do ya have an agenda to follow?" He was definitely curious.
