Stretch, back ache, too much sleep. Need to go for drink. Wander over to stream for drink. Ahhh much better. Food, food, any food? Look, see something moving. Ready to catch, it's..long.. slithery. How odd is this thing. Long slender slithery thing. Must observe. So strange, never seen before. Can eat? Maybe? Try to catch! Ah! It tried to bite back. Stupid slither. Must catch and eat.

She was achingly hungry, and her limbs were so tired they shook. These things would not stop her, however. If she was going to die, Inger had long ago resolved that it would happen on her paws, mid-stride. She wanted one thing, above even food and rest - she wanted to go home.
Past her own breathing and the wind whistling by her ears, she caught the sound of movement. Purposeful, heavy movement. Her pace picked up as much as it was able, pushing her through the wet snow and toward the source. When she saw it was another wolf, her dark green eyes lit up.
"Hallo! Hello!" she called out, bending her tongue the second time with the assumption that the stranger spoke English, as the others had.

A voice, strange. Didn't expect others. Perk up, see other. Is a woman. Hmmm what do. Hmm yes..yes.. idea have come. Have not seen woman in while. Will talk to woman. Seems..hungry, small. Not having food in a while. Has accent. Maybe speak same language? Worth try.

Walk up to small hungry girl. Give sniff. Mmmm smells..like fun. Will have much fun with hungry girl. Smile.

[dohtml]Inger brightened further, eyes now snapped open wide as a familiar tongue finally answered her. Her tail set into a flurry of motion behind her, and she grinned widely at the man. Almost maniacally she lurched forward, unsteady on her paws but so eager to finally have a way back to her pack. If he spoke her language, he would have to know the way home, right? She was practically there!
Her enthusiasm dampened as he continued to speak, his words childish in a way that clashed with the wicked glint in his eyes. Her pace slowed, but she couldn't help the longing growl her stomach emitted at the notion of meat.
"Jeg vil hjem," she insisted, regarding him pleadingly.

" Beklager, sulten en. Hjemmet er langt. Men du kan spise, og i det minste fylle magen. Hvorfor er du her?"
Circle around hungry girl. See she is different, not like ones from this land. Maybe near Eye's home. Unsure. Sniff again. Smile again, gesture towards slither.
" Spis, spis, før du dør."
Plans..what to do....yess yess. Have fun, play games, make..chaos with hungry one.

She was clearly crestfallen. He encouraged her to feed, and she knew that he was not wrong about her being close to death, but she was finding it difficult to care in the face of such news. How far was far... ? Inger tried to swallow, but could barely manage it. She lowered her nose to the dead snake and felt her eyes sting with the desire to cry. It took time to convince herself to finally take a bite. Once the thin blood touched her tongue, it took only seconds to strip the thin carcass of all meat.
Her stomach churned and pinched.
"Jævla mennesker. Hvor langt?" (Fucking humans. How far?) she answered and asked, eyes blazing with determination.

Ahh hungry girl very hungry. Eat slitther quickly. Could use for plan. Hu...uman? Is this Hairless Ape? Unsure. Maybe ask other later.
Stuck far away without home, maybe use new home, cave? Hmmmm..Possibilities.
"Ikke sikker på om mennesker. Men, vit at du ikke er i nærheten av hjemmet eller noe sånt. Kun av oss. Trenger du ly? Å sove? Grotte i nærheten. Kan bli hvis du vil." (Not sure about about humans. But, know that you are not near home or anything like that. Only by us. Need shelter? To sleep? Cave nearby. Can stay if want.)
Cave, Secrets. Dark, damp. What happen in cave? Find out soon, sure. Hehhe, other is so stupid. To be lost like this. How even survive for long? Unsure, but perhaps not much longer. Not with Odin Eye, no no.

He insisted that the distance between where they stood and the land she assumed they were both born in was insurmountable. Inger would not be so easily convinced, even if they shared the same native tongue. He went on about rest and denning but she shook her head as he spoke.
"Så hvordan er du her? Hvordan har jeg det? Det kan ikke være umulig. Hvorfor gir du opp så lett?"
(Then how are you here? How am I? It can't be impossible. Why do you give up so easily?)
The meal he'd gifted her was practically forgotten. She blithely stepped over it on her way forward, back to the same straight line she'd been trudging ever since her escape. Eventually, she had to hit home...

Endte opp her. som Hungry girl. reiste i mange timer. ikke noe hjem å gå til. stort vann mellom her og hjem. ingen måte å krysse." (No no. They are not here. was taken from home. Played with, hurt, caused much pain to Odin Eye. Escaped. Ran away. Ended up here. like Hungry girl. traveled for many hours. no home to go to. big water between here and home. no way to cross.)
Other so weak, can't even understand. Needs rest. They come come with. Need to take to shelter.

She listened as she walked, ears twisting backwards to ensure she caught each word. Perhaps he would say something that would give her a clue. With each new, staccato sentence she tried to make sense of whether he was relaying his own experience or warning her against recapture. He even evoked the name of a god.
Like hungry girl was the phrase that decided it, though she did not begin to slow until he finally gave her a real reason to doubt her ability to return to Norway. Big water, with no way to cross. Inger stopped, staring sternly at the snow before her.
He insisted again on her seeking asylum with him, and her beryl gaze regarded him coolly.
"... fint. Hvis du forteller meg om det store vannet."
(... fine. If you tell me about the big water.)
Even back home, she'd never seen the coast, and knew not what an ocean was. None of them did, raised within the human's sheltering captivity. They only knew the forest. She would find a way, Inger just needed more information. If the humans could do it, she would too.
