wake up, wake - Woya - Mar 15, 2022 So this is continuous happiness You know, I always imagined it something more With the right drapes, the right paints, the right frames This could really work — Happiness by the Kilowatt, Alexis on Fire Three days had passed since @Adelard had decidedly turned her world upside down. He'd consumed her thoughts ever since, but his name and desires were the only consistency. She was still far out at sea, trying to make sense of a relentless squall of emotion. Ever since she had been a little girl, Woya had had a specific picture of what true love was supposed to be. How it was meant to feel, to look, to act. Her uncontrolled tendency to fall hard, quick, had only reinforced this over the years. When she met the one, she'd been so certain it would hit her all at once, the moment they came into her life. Insatiable, irrefutable, searing passion would overtake her and never abate. Her and her match would be an unquenchable fire and limitless accelerant. Adelard's love wasn't something she could run carelessly rampant with. Her introduction to him by Hudson had been utterly forgettable, her initial impression that he was rather stuffy. It starkly opposed that which she had set her heart on. And yet, she wasn't disappointed, not with one single thing about the man. What she feared, more than anything, was being disingenuous with him. That changing her perception of true romance was settling rather than growing, that her inability to commit in that moment was a sign in itself... that her overwhelming desire to make all this, every minute of their time over the past year, worth it for him was eclipsing reason. With a sigh, she settled her haunches onto the thawing earth and began to pull back the dirt from the secrets she'd been gathering and keeping at the edge of the pack's claim. A fresh coon's tail, a stag's antler, a river-smoothed stone the color of the fool's gold that lined their home, and his eyes. Her own pale gaze dulled with reflection as she considered the trinkets and those still to be foraged for. She would need to have an answer for him soon. |
