i'm the queen of the castle - Adonya - Aug 04, 2022

RE: Dark clouds roll in suddenly, threatening a storm! Instead heat lightning crackles dramatically overhead but no rain falls.
[dohtml]

Adonya and her sister had started to grow like weeds, getting further and further away from the size of the smaller ones every day which simply gave her the advantage. She smirked, a devious look on her muzzle as she searched through the pack den for any of the little stunted weaklings to harass. The little menace could pick on them for their oddly large paws and head, after all.

She hummed, hearing a loud sound assault her eardrums which brought nothing short of a hiss from her features, making her way out to see the dry lightning cracking across the sky. It was not followed with the usual pitter patter of rain that Adonya enjoyed. She looked around, hoping her sister was nearby.

Perhaps they could drive one of the younger ones out into the storm and if they were lucky, maybe they’d get struck by lightening and fried or something. God, everything was going to be so boring if there was no one to harass during such an epic event.

RE: i'm the queen of the castle - Apolline - Aug 14, 2022

Little Apple was on a hunt of her own: trailing a strange, brown-green creature through the underbrush. The thing had suddenly jumped out when she was digging in the ‘mudhole’, one of her favorite pastimes, and its hopping movements had instantly drawn her interest.

Blending well with the dry grasses and leaves, she only spotted it whenever it made one of its leaps, following it in her own, bounding manner, oblivious to her surroundings; until thunder suddenly crashed overhead.

The cinnamon pup paused with a start, her body freezing mid-jump. Falling to the ground in a heap, she huddled down tight, glancing up at the sky with wide eyes. Soon she was spellbound by the shimmering in the clouds, though every roar of thunder still made her shudder. It was a mesmerizing feeling of fear and exhilaration both, leaving her completely unaware of her older sister’s closeness.

RE: i'm the queen of the castle - Augustin - Aug 14, 2022

Auggie had unwittingly found his way further from the den then he susally strayed which wasn't far. He often stayed close by not really having a good reason to go any further. However this day he'd found a smooth round stone that he'd taken to playing with. First he liked the way it felt in his mouth but most importantly he liked flipping it up in the air and going to chase it. He'd already been quite busy with the activity for awhile when the first bright light entered the sky.

It scared him causing him to drop his rock. Then came the thunder amd since he'd never seen or heard either he didn't know what it meant. The tawny pup frantically searched for his stone not wanting to leave it behind before heading for the den. A low whine escaped him in frustration that he might have lost his rock.

RE: i'm the queen of the castle - Marrah - Aug 17, 2022

I hope you don't mind Marrah dipping in here! This is just under a week before she left.

I’m Done Putting Out The Fires You Start

As she aged the teen had become less afraid of storms, but it still set her somewhat on edge. So when the sky grew dark and thunder began to rumble Marrah felt the hair along her spine prickly uneasily. Amber eyes watched the masses roll overhead, lightning flashing between them and thunder booming, but not a single raindrop fell. Typical, the only season of her life when she was almost relieved to see a storm there would be no rain.

Picking up her pace and trying to make it so a section of the Chasm where she could find shelter in case it did rain, she was surprised to hear a childlike whine. Freezing for a moment, Marrah looked around. She had so far successfully avoided the children for the short three months they had been alive, and now she had stumbled right upon one of her cousins.

She didn’t know what to say, or what to do, so she stayed silent. She thought better of just leaving him out here alone, but she certainly did not want to get involved. Marrah looked around nervously, surely someone would come looking for him soon.

RE: i'm the queen of the castle - Adonya - Sep 02, 2022

When looking for one target, she found two within her sights. Little Apolline, a runt by Adonya’s standards, and Augustin as well… excellent, the plans turning in her head as she prowled forward, her eyes narrowed as she watched them carefully. She could feel the fear that radiated from them as the thunder rolled ahead, uncertain of what to make of it… Adonya herself did not know too much about it, but she had certainly concocted a plan in her head to use it to scare them greatly.

She waited once more for the lightening to crack above before she leapt out from her hiding place, growling at them with her teeth barred as she hoped to scare them outside of the den and towards the storm and the scary sounds that had emerged. There was no rain, and so she did not see why she might get in trouble. At worst, it felt like a harmless prank, really… even if the little rats deserved worse in her opinion.

Her eyes lingered in a devious nature. “Careful, or the sky might get ya.” She offered hauntingly as she prowled forward, continuing to attempt to be a terrifying force for them to be afraid of, as was the natural order of things.

RE: i'm the queen of the castle - Apolline - Sep 09, 2022

The longer she spent under the blitz, the more her fear subsided, though she could do without the booming sounds, growing ever closer. Still, the light playing off the hulking clouds, showing surprising hues of green and purple among the dark grey was too beautiful run from.

However, in between two thunder cracks, Apolline’s ears caught the sound of a familiar yelp, pulling her attention from the clouds. Despite the encroaching darkness, she easily spotted her brother’s tan form, scrambling though the grass in apparent panic. Assuming he too had be scared by the storm, she rushed over to reassure him, but not before another sister came running, from the opposite direction.

Unlike Apolline though, Adonya’s intention was not to help her brother – not surprising in the least to the sun-pup, who had long since learned that her older sisters were mean. The growl was no match for the roars from above, however in such close quarters it was still plenty scary. Apple’s ears flattened as she came to a halt at her brother’s side, trying to hide her fear as she boldly faced off against the bigger girl. “Stop ‘donya! ‘s not funny!” She barked, doing her utmost to hide the tremble in her voice as she shuffled to press herself against Augustin’s side.

Above, the sky continued to rumble ominously, and she had to swallow hard, seeking as much comfort from her brother as she was trying to offer. She wasn’t about to bolt, she wouldn’t. But it sounded closer and closer with every crack, could it really hurt them?

RE: i'm the queen of the castle - Augustin - Sep 15, 2022

Augustin was so worried about his rock. What would get do if he lost it? He wanted to keep it forever and ever but in the darkness that was surrounding him he couldn't see its dark surface. The loud booming brought his attention from his search to the sky. He startled a little by the flashes. His whines seemed to have caught the attention of not one but two if his sister's. Unfortunately one of the was Donya causing him to frow. "Apple help find stone," he said nudging his sister.

Before she could Adonya spoke words I to the air meant to scare them. He knew it, she always did stuff like that. Apple seemed to k own it too. Auggie stuck his tongue out at his older sister before moving closer to his littermate. "Apple right not funny," he said backing up his sister's words. He could feel her pressing against his side.

It felt like the booming was getting louder and louder amd the flashes of light happened more. Auggie wouldn't admit that he was scared. He would stay at his sister's side and face the booming, and flashing, and Adonya. They could do this together.

I’m Done Putting Out The Fires You Start

The Maceio-Tainn girl wanted to turn around and leave when she had seen the collection of children, she still did. The only thing that kept her rooted in place was that these were her cousins and not the devil spawn that had killed her friend's mother. She knew she should put in more of an effort, if at least for the benefit of her Aunt and Adelard, who she guessed was her uncle now maybe?

She listened to them squabble for a minute or two, remaining silent and watching them wearily. Marrah was still tempted to leave, but, instead she squeezed her eyes shut for a second and took a deep breath. Stepping forward she offered, ”She’s right, you should be careful when the sky looks like this.” The yearling had seen first hand how quickly storms could produce twisters and go from harmless to dangerous.

Marrah blinked at the kids awkwardly, not sure what else to say to the trio. She half hoped they would not hear her and she could slink away and lick her bruised ego. The other adults made this look so easy….but how did you talk to these small things? They were barely even wolves.

RE: i'm the queen of the castle - Adonya - Sep 30, 2022

Adonya could not help the cackle as Apolline snapped at her, a wicked glint in her eyes as she flashed a toothy grin at her. “Oh, come on, have a little fun.” She taunted the uptight child further as she circled around them, watching as she pressed up against her brother. Adonya even dared to prove her own bravery when Augustin said that it wasn’t funny. That was solely a matter of opinion.

“It’s plenty funny.” She stated, dancing around just outside the den despite the light and thunder flashing outside. She wasn’t out there super long before tucking back inside. It was Marrah’s attention that brought her ears flat. Her ears pressed flat against her skull as a lack of amusement found her features. Why did she have to take all the fun out of harassing the younger children?

Her tail slowly lashed from side to side as her nose twitched in an irritated manner. “If you know so much then why is the sky so angry, Marrah.” She asked, annoyed but curious all the same, seeking answers somewhere.

She would gladly have helped her brother recover his prize, had it not been for the looming darkness, and Adonya stalking around, acting all intimidating. Both their older sisters seemed to find way too much fun in tormenting the smaller pups, and Apple had found the best way of deterring this was for them to stick together – she only wished Adora or one of their brothers had been around to make it three against one.

As it was, she preferred to stick close to Augie’s side, forming a defensive front. Adonya seemed undeterred however, dancing around them and proclaiming how fun she found the whole thing. Yet, she’d return to the cover of the den every so often, apparently concerned about the sky herself and not just using it as a way to scare the smaller pups. Apolline’s brow furrowed, eyes darting at the sky as another flash lit it up. Knowing her older sister was actually afraid of a thing was both empowering and terrifying.

An unexpected voice added to the mud-pup’s worries, as Marrah appeared out of the darkness. Apple turned wide eyes onto the yearling, feeling a fresh chill at her words – Adonya might make up anything to scare her siblings, perhaps even put on a frightened act to really sell the story – but if Marrah said it was dangerous, it had to be true. Apple was already backing up to seek shelter as instructed, when Adonya’s annoyed voice challenged the yearling, stopping her in her tracks. Looking from one to the other, Apolline wrinkled her brows again, confused by the older pup suddenly seeming to contradict herself. She couldn’t help but mumble; “Y’ said it was bad…!” She didn’t like it when things contradicted.
