the last daisy - Isomne - Sep 19, 2022

For Enera

It was a lovely evening. The first chill of the autumn was not yet upon the land, but summer's leaving could be seen and felt.

Isomne had not wanted to intrude too close to the dens following her conversation with @Woya, preferring not to step on any toes and give those trusted around the children their space. Even though the conversation had been smoothed, she remembered the caution that had flared up in the woman's eyes, and wished not to cross any invisible lines. But she had been given the okay to offer her help, and then there was her other task, to sniff out the tales and songs that ran deep here. In her eyes, the two tasks were not exactly unrelated.

That the children were adorable even from a distance, growing larger and more adventurous, was something to celebrate without a doubt. Still, Isomne felt as if she were missing out on something vital to the future with each passing day. It was not a conscious thought, more of a stirring, a growing feeling that she had very little time to waste. But it was this that left her now along one of the paths to and from the heart of the pack's territory. She waited beside the trail in a patch of late-season blooms, watching the light shift on them and hoping to run into one of the wolves she was supposed to check in with, @Enera or @Adelard. She really ought to get to know her packmates better, anyway.
