Nightmare on my street - Stella - Oct 04, 2022

(AW, RE) Stella, Your Treatbag Reveals: You hear a terrifying and beast-like scream in the distance. Surely another wolf couldn't have made that noise!

Stella was holding together, with some days going better than others. Today she had wandered further from the heart of the Cove again, her tired legs usually doing wonders to ease her thoughts. Hunting had been less than fruitful, but she felt better knowing the borders were well-marked, and well watched.

The trip around the lake and down the mountain had taken more of the day than she'd wanted. Red and bruised purples painted the sky as the light began to fade. The days really were growing shorter now.
She was just thinking of turning toward home when she heard it: an echoing scream that froze her in her tracks, sending a chill to her very marrow.

She had never heard anything like it before. It couldn't be a wolf, could it? Thoughts of the demon cat that had haunted the Cove, and taken her father, sprang to mind, and Stella's lips curled, her hackles rising. But she could not identify the sound, leaving her to worry it might be something stranger still.

Stel drew a breath, ears swiveling, as she tried to steady her racing heart. Which direction had it come from? She decided to turn and make for home, but her instincts told her not to run. Setting off at a slow walk, the girl marched toward the shadow of Mount Dire as night closed in around her. "Who's there!" She demanded of the looming silence, hoping her challenge sounded braver than she felt.
