RE: somewhere to belong - Caspian - Dec 28, 2022

The susurrus of voices quieted, and Cas listened to Jethro's voice, not comprehending quite as much as his older sibling. It was only when Ry voiced his concern that Caspian's ears fell back in concern.

Leave the lake? They could go back, right?

He looked to Finley for reassurance, this was a good thing that was happening right now, right? He thought so from the sound of things, but he also loved to explore around the lake. He liked the islands and the shore and... home, the lake did feel like home. The waterfalls were neat of course, and he supposed he could live wherever his ma and Ry were, but, he didn't really understand what moving meant.

RE: somewhere to belong - Finley - Jan 10, 2023

Finley is in :)

Finley was pleased when her son finally arrived and took his spot next to her side, yipping and clearly excited by the gathering. When he was done she took a second to lean in and whisper quietly in his ear, ”Quicker next time please, it’s not polite to keep people waiting.” Then she kissed him on the back of his ear before turning her attention back to Jethro who had summoned them all here. At his smile she felt a slight flush on her cheeks, though she did her best to ignore it. She knew he spent most of his time with Siyet and could only assume what that meant for them, but it was impossible for her not to feel a certain kind of fondness after all the kindness and compassion he had shown her sons.

She had been about to pipe in with her support of the idea when Ryder jumped in first with some of his own concerns. Grinning a little she responded, ”Well, most wolves have an actual permanent home, they have territory that belongs to them. This provides a lot more safety for everyone, and makes life easier for everyone.” As for why not the lake, she didn’t know, but that was for Jethro and Flair to decide. Still, she added, ”This place seems like it would make a lovely home, and it’s close enough we can go back and visit the lake as often as we like.” The last bit was added on for her son’s benefit.

Looking back to Jethro and Flair she asked, ”Have you scouted out a spot for the pack den, or should we maybe spend the afternoon looking as a group?” The idea of adventure was sure to make the boys more excited, though she did not expect they would be the most helpful in knowing what to look for.

RE: somewhere to belong - Siyet - Jan 31, 2023

There were quite a few people who had showed up to Jethro's announcement. She looked at all the people, some more familiar than others. She hoped that the ones she wasn't too familiar with, would become close friends with. She felt proud to be here, she felt excited to be here. There were so many new opportunities and adventures to be had. She hadn't felt this much excitement since Jethro and her arrived in the Cove. She started her life here, away from the tundra as a sad, lonely, and starving woman. Now she felt secure, happy, and full of life. She had been through thick and thin, friendships, fights, hunts(or at least attempts to), and many other things. She held her head high, surrounded by new wonderful people, in a new wonderful home.

RE: somewhere to belong - Reika - Feb 02, 2023

Reika was happy to see that nearly everyone had shown up. She was almost certain this was the announcement that she'd been waiting for. Finally they would all have a home and they coukd really call themselves a pack. In the past months her thoughts of exploring the lore had gone to the wayside. Sticking with the group and helping them through the tough times had helped her see that this was where she needed to be

Though it was sad too because the one face she didn't see was Colettes. Though she wished the woman was there she also get that it might have been time for them to part ways. She'd done what she coukd for the other woman and now it was time for her to face whatever it was that was chasing her.

The Archer girl listened as the others spoke, "You know how I feel about this place and this group,"
she stated simply. Since she and Jethro had already spoken she didn't think she needed to say anything more.

RE: somewhere to belong - Jethro - Feb 02, 2023

Flair took the opportunity to speak a little, noting something he hadn’t and thanking the others for their dedication. A message Jet couldn’t have agreed with more, and at the short, shared glance between them the dark one offered a little nod.

A look over the others showed that most of them either seemed to think this place would be a good home, or they weren’t opposed to it. Only Ryder spoke up with an inquiry, and thankfully Finley was there to explain and answer it, better than he probably could’ve.

”Fin’s right. Think we’ll be a little safer an’ less noticeable here. Easier to manage. But we can still go back and visit,” the dark one offered his agreement. As well as a nod of gratitude to Finley for taking the brunt of that question on. The lake would be a bigger draw for both prey and predators, as well as possible competition. It felt better to be hidden away from that, just a little.

The only other question was from Finley, then, regarding a pack den. ”Not yet. We can absolutely look as a group,” there were a number of crevices or caves to sleep in. And the more input the better.

Siyet offered nothing except her silent support, something the dark one was grateful for and still not entirely sure he deserved. Reika’s response was pithy, but no less valued because of that. ”I do. Thank you, Reika.” Her presence and support, too, was welcomed and highly valued. The same for everyone else.

-wanted to get one more post in. Going to archive this weekend just in case anyone wants to add anything else (we're so close!!)

RE: somewhere to belong - Flair - Feb 05, 2023

Surprisingly, or perhaps not so much, the boys were the first to react, each in their own way. While Caspian sought his mother’s comfort, Ryder openly objected, and really, it wasn’t so shocking that they’d be apprehensive; The lake’s all they’ve ever known… Still, Flair blinked a little at the question, and breathed a quiet sigh of relief when Finley answered her son, followed by Jethro explaining the needs of a pack. All that was left for the fiery woman was to nod along, offering a comforting smile to both pups. Once the full force of winter was upon them, they’d be happy to have somewhere to seek proper shelter.

The rest of their group stayed mostly quiet, Reika offering a simple affirmation which earned her verbal thanks from Jet, and a crooked smile from Flair herself, followed by a firm nod. And then they were left with the suggestion of finding a den-site together, a first pack activity of sorts. After a moment’s thought, Flair nodded at Jet’s suggestion, sending Finley and her sons a soft smile; A nice idea… It would give them all a chance to explore their new home together, and hopefully help the boys feel better about the change – that they’d helped decide where exactly they would be moving to.

Simply glancing around the area, she could spot numerous openings in the rock – it was very likely that they wouldn’t need to dig a communal den at all, but could simply find a natural cave to use. Either way, exploring the nooks and crannies would surely help get the youngsters more excited about the Falls, and while Flair still intended to make some private inspections later, she felt surprisingly uplifted by the idea of sharing this first experience of their new home with her packmates, rusty tail wagging lightly as she got up to follow the group into their Paradise.
