All the pups were home safe, and spring was fast approaching. Soon the almost-yearlings would be going along on big game hunts, starting their lives as adult members of the pack. By all measures, this was a hopeful time, yet Leo Vuesain didn’t feel particularly optimistic.

He had no reason to look forwards to spring, frankly he wished they could just skip it all together. But of course, that was a pointless thought, and he generally tried to avoid those. Instead, he focused his energy on the here and now, burying himself in work as much as possible.

This usually meant border patrols, and today was no different as the yearling woke with the sun, setting out to make sure their markers were still strong, and no one had tried to sneak past them in the night.
