mentor - Spartan - Jul 13, 2023 [dohtml] The children grew bold and he knew if they did not explore the healthy ways to burn growing energy, they would seek to disobey. Children may be children, but he would not lose them to whims. First he sought to herd @Sonnet out towards a clearing. They were by no means old enough to properly hunt, but there were little things he could offer as enrichment. Nearly-dead things that would hardly struggle against the ferocity of a child learning. Like the marten he had brought back that had only a heartbeat as its sign of life. He chuffed low and deep to her with an expectance that she might, at the very least, investigate what he had brought her. RE: mentor - Sonnet - Jul 13, 2023 The pup obeyed her father without fuss, walking alongside him quietly. She was getting bigger now and more steady on her paws. Her tranquil nature still shone through, but the building energy was no secret. She wanted to explore more and venture further and further from the den. To see what else was out there for her to observe. How she loved watching the world go around her, soaking in the knowledge it offered if she only listened. To seek out the unknown quietly with passionate curiosity. Soon she was met with something new but she did not like it. Her father encouraged her to approach, but the child stayed still. It was unmoving, unlike the animals she often watched. She looked up at him with big sad eyes. Why was it so still? After staring at him for a moment she finally relented to his beckoning. She approached with a dampened demeanor as she nudged the creature with her snout. It was still warm and soft, its fur smelt nice too. Her belly grumbled. Sonnet wasn't sure how to respond, she felt saddened by the lack of response the creature gave, but hunger quickly gnawed at her. This animal was like the ones brought back for food and yet, little Sonnet felt for it, it wasn't gone yet. She didn't understand what death was nor did she grasp the difference between dead and alive. What she did know was her ears could hear the ever-so-faint heartbeat. She knew that not all animals ran about and they ate the ones still like this. Yet those ones weren't breathing. What caused them to go from that to this? Did it hurt? |
