in this twilight - Aquene - Jul 15, 2023

Galen was next on her list. The ebony alpha made her way through the pack territory, following after his scent with a some smile on her features before pausing near the pack den. Her head would tip towards the sky as she called for him, intent to talk to him about his goals and aspirations both within the pack and simply within his life. She wanted to help them thrive in a way that she knew Aleister would have encouraged for them all, both her children with Nash as well as his children with Oksana.

It was time, in many ways, for them to be a pack again… instead of letting themselves continue to be marred by tragedy.

And that meant focusing on the feature instead of the past… the what could happens instead of the what did happens.

She would wait patiently, having brought a rabbit with her to offer the boy. Eclypse was nearby, Aquene always keeping an eye on where her youngest was. It was much easier for her to keep track of one than it had been when she had been trying to keep track of the brood that were now yearlings… it reminded her much of Kateri.

There was a pang and longing there that still grazed her heart… wondering where her eldest was.

But she could not let herself dwell on that either.

RE: in this twilight - Galen - Jul 19, 2023

"Hm?" Galen hummed to himself as he paused mid stride to allow an ebony ear to hone in on the oddly specific call from Aquene that requested his presence. There was no inkling to the yearling what their leader could want with the Vuesain, confusion clearly etched onto the boy's face to be seen by nobody else but the birds and the squirrels that chattered loudly amongst the branches hovering overhead. Thus it would seem his latest loop around the perimeter was being cut short. Alas, a summons was a summons and Galen wasn't the type to go around ignoring his superiors.

The boy turned about to shift his path of travel to aim for that of the dens, paws thudding against the dry ground below in his haste to answer her call in as much of a timely fashion as his distance out would allow while following the trail of her perfume once he stepped into the deeper portion of their territory. Instantly a warm smile in greeting adorned his inky lips once his golden gaze pinpointed her stark silhouette up ahead with the carcass of a rabbit at her paws, tail wagging lowly at his haunches until he came to a halt. "Hello, Aquene. You called for me?" Head tilting curiously to one side he adjusted his posture to take a seat, somewhere in the back of his mind doubting this was just to exchange pleasantries. Not that he would mind if that was indeed the case, but Galen was old enough now to better understand some of the politics that came with pack life.

Galen was prompt in his arrival, a gentle smile on her features as he greeted her, watching as he took a seat. “Hello, Galen. Thank you for arriving so swiftly.” There was a genuine nature in her voice as her tail thumped lightly against the ground. The leader knew that it could seem a little out of the blue as she had given them no warning that she would be doing this… but she wanted their genuine thoughts and reactions, not something they’d spent time preparing… a part of her worried that they would try to tell her only what she wanted to hear if that happened.

Except all she wanted from them was for them to be the best they could be.

“I wanted to talk to you about something of great importance.” She’d pause for a moment before continuing. “You… I want to know now that you’re a yearling if you’d begun to think about what you might want to do or specialize in?” Perhaps the boy was a scout, or a hunter, or a guardian… perhaps he wanted to see the world which she could not blame him if he did.

Perhaps he was a teacher, or a diplomat, or perhaps he’d secretly wanted to learn healing… though hthat one she was a little biased towards.

“I just wanted to talk to you about your goals and aspirations, find out what it is you want and see how we might be able to help you get there.”
