It had been a little over a month since she had joined the Falls.
Which meant her own scent was woven in with those that made up the borders. After all, she had made a promise that she knew she could keep. She guarded the borders with a continued ferocity, the energy of her youth was evident when she often awoke in the night.
Winter made for longer nights as well, more time for her to roam and do her job.
So she slithered her way along the edge of the border. Found a tree that seemed a little barren of recent marks and raised a leg to plant a fresh mark. Then carried on, prepared to do this again and again.
Until something more exciting showed up or someone stopped her.

She didn’t usually like to wander during the later hours, but now that the child had a set home to live in.. well. Pan felt a little more comfortable pushing her boundaries a bit. She hadn’t yet worked up the courage to wander beyond these borders since arriving, perhaps out of fear that the place would somehow disappear. Or that she’d get lost and be left on her own again.
Pan had settled in well otherwise. Tonight, though, dreams of her family and events that seemed so long ago now kept her up, so Pan instead chose to wander.
To finally investigate and explore the borders of this territory. Hoping, somehow, that maybe she’d catch a glimpse of white fur, or see some kind of trail out in the forest. Any indication that her family was still out there and were close by. It didn’t seem likely after all of this time, but she didn’t want to give up hope.
