have you ever seen the rain? - Miriam - Mar 19, 2024 RE: Spring showers have come early, resulting in heavy downpours throughout Relic Lore.
[dohtml]It felt unnatural to hate rain as much as she did… the steady downpour outside crept into the den and soaked her paws and she loathed every second of it. She did not mind being wet, but the near assaulting presence of the drops pelting her did little to make her like it in this moment. Each dagger had dug into her fur until she’d been able to hide away. She tried to remind herself that it was a blessing from the Gods, but in this moment, it was difficult to feel even that. And she was stranded, pulling back further into the den in an attempt to dry off as a shiver ran down her spine. She still was not fully recovered from the swim she had taken unintentionally before the pack meeting and had a chill ever since. She was freezing, in fact! However, rather than blaming her immune system still in shock, she chose to blame the rain instead. It was all the rain’s fault, even if it was meant to be a blessing from the Gods. With the warmer weather coming he knew that his thicker coat was going to end up overheating him. Yet, with the random downpour that he had been caught in while checking caches he was grateful for it. Water that did soak into his fur never reached his skin it only added weight to his form. Weight he didn't feel like dragging around especially since the rain didn't seem to have an end in sight at the moment.
Shaking off as best as he could at the entrance of the den the pale man carefully slipped inside. His gaze almost instantly catching on the smaller wolf that was tucked against the back of the den. He would give her a small smile of greeting if she happened to look his way. The small tremors from her shivering form made his gaze linger as he tipped his head with a slight frown.
"Are you alright Miss?" He asked taking a hesitant step closer. He couldn't see anything wrong with her, but she was curled up tight and pressed to the den wall. RE: have you ever seen the rain? - Miriam - Mar 20, 2024 [dohtml] She remained shivering in the back of the den until another made their presence known. It was not anyone she recognized, causing much chagrin as she shook her head at his question. “Co-cold.” She stuttered out as the shiver ran down her spine once more and she tried to pull tighter into a ball. There wasn’t much to be done until her fur dried. “Hate th-the r-rain.” She muttered mostly to herself but loud enough that Specter would be able to hear it. Her fur had never been the thickest, of course. And it showed in moments like this where warmer weather was thwarted in the rain… while it had been warm-ish on it’s fall, once it settled into her fur it simply was heavy and cold, the light breeze with the rain chilling her fully to the bone. She hated it… but she once more tried to remind herself that it was a blessing in disguise. A blessing… right..? RE: have you ever seen the rain? - Specter - Mar 22, 2024 [dohtml]
His ears flattened as he took another step forward. Specter didn't like the fact that she was stuttering and his brows furrowed as he approached her. Gaze drifting over her water soaked fur. She could easily get sick like this especially if she stayed cold and wet for too long. He couldn't do much about her wet fur but he could do something about her being cold.
"Apologies if I make you uncomfortable." Specter told her as he shook himself lightly, fluffing his fur, before he went to lay at her side. Pressing himself as close to her smaller form as he could. Disregarding the water and cold he could feel soaking into his pelt Specter's pale frame wrapped around her to block the chill that was coming in from the outside, and give her a chance to soak in some of the warmth he had to offer her. If she would allow it he would also lay his head and neck over top of hers. RE: have you ever seen the rain? - Miriam - Mar 22, 2024 [dohtml] Miriam didn’t know what she had been expecting, but having the man come over to her and apologize to her had not been it. Uncomfortable? What did he—He settled down next to her, pressing his body against hers which caused her to tense at first in uncertainty… it was not until he wrapped around her that she understood what he was doing. His warmth leeched into her skin, cascading through. Though she was still cold, she felt almost an immediate improvement to what she had felt before. For a few moments, she was silent, a soft sigh of relief escaping her and though she still had a small shiver, it was a night and day difference from what it had been. “Thank you.” Her soft whine was almost pitiful. She felt guilty that she’d required such intervention, but she was grateful for it all the same. It warmed her, and it provided her some measure of relief. It would take time for her fur to drive, likely until the rain fully stopped, but it was a nice bandaid. |
