RE: Actions Speak Louder Than Words - Claw - Mar 25, 2024 [dohtml] You're a loser, baby
His journey across the lore had been bleak and uneventful to say the least, his latest trip from the cherry orchard proving to be rather fruitful; no pun intended, in serving as a reminder that he never should have returned and let curiosity get the better of him. He nearly kicked himself in his own rump for chasing something so stupid, unsure how he could bring it up to Loach that his journey had been an utter failure. Oh how he missed that grumpy old man though and the others. Each rise and fall of the sun mirrored the tidal wave like tendencies of the ache dwelling in his chest being apart from the only ones he'd ever call family outside that of his mother and sister whom had long since removed themselves from the picture. Since departing from the orchard marbled limbs had put paws into motion toward home, a brief stay once more at Fisher's Split allowing Claw to reminisce over happier memories and use such as fuel to get him through the remaining distance til he was back with the others. Currently, he found himself traversing through a thick collection of evergreens that offered ample cover for his mottled silhouette beneath the sparse sunlight that managed to push past the leaves above, the subtle sound of flowing water serving as an invisible guide for him to follow. It was a quaint place he thought while continuing to strut along until the ground began to give way to an opening in the trees, the roaring of the water loud enough now that its power couldn't be ignored. Nor could the sudden appearance of a stranger sitting near the edge and seemingly studying the waterfall before them both. "If yer gonna jump just do it." His humor dry, but present nonetheless. The sight of rust-tipped ears swiveling back alerted Claw firstly that his voice was heard over the roar of the falls before the stranger shifted neutrally to face him, his own gaze equally drinking in the sight now presented to himself. A milky eye nestled on one side of her face drew his attention first out of curiosity and left his mind to wander towards thoughts such as had she been born without use of that eye, or had life robbed it from her at some point? His gaze then matched the openness in which she too studied him, drinking in the hues of reds and creams that adorned her petite frame. Offsetting the singular caramel eye that shone warmly amongst such similar shades. Well, pretty and funny. Her response wasn't one that Claw had expected, but one he could appreciate. Marbled limbs brought himself closer to fill the open space beside her and allow his pale green gaze to safely peer over the edge of the cliff as if actually contemplating her offer. No sooner did he take a glance was he shrugging a shoulder in indifference and taking a step back from the ledge. "Nah, yer probably right and the world isn't finished with me either. Would be a bummer of a way to go, though." A cheeky smirk was casually tossed in the others direction, his tail waving lightly at his hocks. Clearly amused by their humorous banter. Word Count: 241

I don’t know, it’d be memorable at least. Would it be though? Claw had a hard time believing such an untimely stunt from himself would exactly fall into the category of memorable, but he held the same theory in regards to the death of his sister when they had been mere pups. Yet he remembered how her emaciated body laid crumpled amongst the various nooks and crannies of the lagoon clear as day as if it had been yesterday. He didn't want others final memories of himself to have a similar outlook. He was far too handsome for that. His ear closest to her swiveled toward the sound of her voice again before his eyes followed suit, a pale brow quirking curiously. Everything about this stranger had his curiosity going and he found he wanted to hear more from her. Perhaps it was the lack of socialization since returning to the lore that had him drinking up the attention like he was dehydrated, but right now the water tasted sweet and he wanted to enjoy it while he could. "And whats yer idea of whats worth being remembered for?" His tone was casual, but genuine. Word Count: 195

RE: Actions Speak Louder Than Words - Claw - Mar 27, 2024 [dohtml] Claw Archer
Brown tinged ears had to pivot themselves forward in order to catch the hushed response that fell from the woman's lips after a gap of silence fell between them while she contemplated how to answer his question. A legacy. Her answer had been made in earnest and Claw couldn't help the rapid blinking of his beryl gaze while he mulled this idea over himself, having not quite expected it nor disagreeing with it. Once upon a time the bloodline that flowed through his very veins had once been deemed a renowned legacy within the Lore back when the great Elettra Archer ruled. Stories told by his mother when he had been a pup of the grand Archer line and such confirmed later when he had managed to make a run in with other descendants like himself of a bloodline seen as royalty. But now? Like all great kingdoms, so too did the Archers come to crumble and fall. But what if the remains of a dilapidated kingdom could once again rise to power here? A sea of thoughts anew for the young Archer began to churn in his mind. "Do you want to build a legacy?" Those pale green eyes honed in on her own eyes, the question serving to probe the woman further in her thought process as he studied her facial expressions. If a legacy was what she craved... Those same brilliant eyes watched as the distance between them began to close by half-step measures, the instinctual tensing of his muscles simply a knee jerk reaction to the sudden closeness from another after so much time spent in solitude here. Oh how his body yearned for the touch, though, as all of his senses suddenly became dominated by the tantalizing scent of her perfume that lured him in more. Her whispered answer sending a small shiver to course along his spine and his stomach to flip. Once she began to pull away Claw found his body naturally leaning forward as if attempting to prevent such space between them from widening, a low yet pleasant rumble sounding in his chest when she ushered forth those next words to him. Was that not what he had craved for, searched for the most since the day his mother abandoned him? To be deemed worthy of someone, of something. There was a calm, but confident tone that would Claw's words while maintaining their eye contact, a million words seemingly said yet not just by the look they shared. Stepping forward he allowed the edges of his teeth to preen the unkempt fur at the nape of her neck, lungs swallowing that dangerous perfume of hers that made his body grow woozy yet eager for more before tilting his muzzle some to press to the base of her ear and whispering into it. "I can guarantee it." Word Count: 243
