The mountains were beautiful, Lillia found. Rocky terrain underfoot and thinning forests that gave way to a wide open space where she could see for miles. Perhaps, in the past, she was meant to rule a place like this. Take the reins from her father and become the leader she was meant to be.

No, she’d left the idea of ruling behind long, long ago. It was just herself, now - there was no one to lead, anyway. If Nadine were still around, or Caleb, then maybe they’d have stood a chance, but Caleb was dead and she hadn’t seen Nadine in so long, and she was unlikely to find her here.
But there was a draw to this place - calling her north. She wasn’t sure what she believed in, if anything, but it felt like she was supposed to be here. Supposed to be doing… something.
