and snakes and stones never broke my bones - Reverie - Jun 26, 2024 Reverie, you've startled a snake from its sunning spot. Eek!
@Sophrosnia @Vili @Lillia adults tagged for vis but technically AW :) [dohtml] It was not often she went very far from the confines of the den. Truthfully they hardly had the ability to go that far! Yet when the sunshine managed to break through the Fen's covers, they tried to make the most of it. Content to roll about in the sunshine patches located in front of the den. Only someone else had that idea too... They had been on their back, wriggling around when they spotted it. Something on the ground. She had never seen that before. Flipped over onto her belly again, she crawled closer to it. Some natural instinct inclined her to hunt after it while it bathed in the sun for a moment. Thankfully it was nothing more than a garter snake. RE: and snakes and stones never broke my bones - Lillia - Jun 27, 2024 The littlest member of their group was out of the den. Lillia smiled to herself as she watched the pup from the corner of the clearing, blending well with the shadows cast from the midday sun. It was nice out, summoning all kinds of creatures to the light to warm themselves in the glow. Golden eyes followed what the pup was stalking after and she stiffened for a moment at the sight of the serpent. Quietly, Lillia rose and crept a little closer, not wanting to startle pup or snake, and relaxed when she realized it wasn't of the venomous variety. It wasn't a danger to the pup, she figured, as small and harmless as it was. Now was as good a time as ever for the little one to start practicing their fine motor skills, so Lillia hung back just enough to watch without interfering. Close enough to hop in if need be, but ultimately far enough back to let Reverie do whatever she wanted. RE: and snakes and stones never broke my bones - Reverie - Jul 30, 2024 [dohtml] She had not yet learned how to be perfectly skillful in her approach. Perhaps she was stable when it came to simple walking or crawling, but the art of the hunt still eluded her. Still she tried to pounce. Only the creature seemed wiggly and eager to escape an impending doom. It squirmed, writhed over her paws as if it might try to crawl up their legs! Reverie had no clue what came next and had she known any better, the snake was likely just as confused! She had not yet come into words, but she saw the familiar figure out a guardian and let out little yapping whines. RE: and snakes and stones never broke my bones - Lillia - Aug 01, 2024 The pup crept toward the snake, and Lillia smiled to herself. She wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but it was fun to watch the little thing try and hunt for the first time, even if it was just by instinct alone. That was a good thing, she figured, that Reverie was already showing an interest in it. Lillia herself was not a good hunter and had been far more interested in fighting, but maybe Rev was different. Reverie made her move and stomped on the snake, who did not enjoy being stomped on. And Lillia, being the only wolf in the vicinity, was looked to for help. The pup yipped and whined, and baby blue eyes were turned toward the guardian, pleading in the only way she knew how to. It softened something in Lillia's chest, and she made her way over to the poor kid. "You got it!" she praised, reaching out a paw to press the snake's head to the ground so it couldn't whip around as much and Reverie could move away if she wanted to. "Good catch." |
