I just need a little lovin' - Viorel - Nov 14, 2024

For @Asmund to discuss him moving up to the role of second
Early afternoon, light snow, 14F/-10C

[dohtml]

Winter was rapidly closing in on them, and Viorel knew there were some conversations that needed to be had before it truly set in. Even today the snow lightly fell and it was cold enough that instead of melting when it hit the earth it actually clung to the frosty grass. Waking up from his afternoon nap he had only one of these talks on his mind and after a leisurely stretch he shook the snowflakes that had settled on his pelt off.

It didn’t take long to find Asmund’s trail, his pawprints melted into the snow as he moved throughout the territory. Viorel hurried after him until the small dark form came into view along the border up ahead. Chuffing in greeting the leader broke out into a quick trot until he caught up to the younger man and fell into step beside him.

Taking a moment of silence he looked ahead, trying to find the right words on how to approach this. He wanted Asmund to want this and not feel forced into it, even though Viorel knew that he was ready. In the end he just went for it, ”I would like for you to be my second, Oleander’s gone and I think the position best belongs to one of my sons.” And he should know by now that included him, even if it wasn’t by blood.

RE: I just need a little lovin' - Asmund - Nov 21, 2024

Viorel's company wasn't unusual, but the little moment of hesitation briefly raised a flag. Was something else wrong now... ? When the older wolf did speak, Asmund's eyes widened with surprise. The idea of himself in that position was not novel. He had considered himself as slowly working toward it, actually, but he'd never expressed it. That the leader was asking him to step into the role meant either that he was desperate, or that he truly, independently believed that Asmund was ready to hold that kind of rank.

Only because of how thoroughly unfailing Viorel's support had been before this point was the young man able to believe that it was more likely to be the latter. To say that he was touched would be an understatement. Awe gave way to a look of solemn determination, and his mottled muzzle nodded once.

"Okay. Thank you..."

He didn't really know how to express everything he felt about the nomination, nor even what was most important to share. Certainly not on the spot. He couldn't help but default back into formal and concise.

"Should anything change, then, about how I spend my efforts?"
