Just Follow My Lead - Treena - May 13, 2012 Treena kept her muzzle in the air, eyes open as she drifted. Her breathing was nothing more than soundless breeze as she struggled for a nearby meal. The forest was dully light, the day was passing by quicker than she had expected. It felt good to be moving, her limbs stretching with each stride. Her eyes dancing in the lowering sun the she-wolf was glowing with pride. Her figured weaved through the trees, adrenaline clear on her structure as she kicked it into overdrive. Her neck was strained forward, almost oblivious to anything but the hunt. Blinking her eyes she cleared her vision, returning to the darkening forest once more. Each step she took she became more entranced in the wild-life, tail half-way in the air. Her black paw-pads scrapped the dirt, teeth bared in preparation. She could smell fresh scent of a deer herd, and instantly excited her eyes darted to the ground. Tangled with the scent was water, which was a winning situation, she could spot deer prints in the dirt. How long had it been since she had caught a deer? She couldn’t remember. Her hopes high she swung her head over her shoulder, a large smile plastered to her flawless face. She butted her head against Ash much like a cat would to a human, nearly purring in satisfaction. It was a little awkward, figuring their height difference, but Treena managed to reach his shoulder with her nose. Her tail wagged high in the air, glaring at him in muted ecstasy. Nearly her entire back swung with the momentum, smacking into the muscular male. Her golden eyes attempting to meet his glowing green ones she wanted to keep quiet, yet ask a question. The confusion sweeping over her face as she fought between the two, could they take down a deer? Ash was big, and strong. She bet he could do it alone, without her help. She was a tag-along, desperate to break in on his meal and company. Looking him over she became more sure that together the two could take down a sickly new-born. Yet, what if there was only large brutes? What if they did not run away, but instead attacked? She wouldn’t ask him any of those questions. She’d rather avoid the embarrassment of being clueless. She’d pretend it was a simple adventure, something she did every day. It was clear in the way her ribs stuck out it was not, but who knew? Maybe she could fool him. Her acting skills were very poor, but it wasn’t a direct lie. It was a miss-led truth. Her ears pulled back towards the sound of lapping tongues. It was late, maybe the herd was resting here for the night, beside the water. Maybe there didn't need to be a hunting, maybe the two of them could just sneak in and pull out a dying one. They didn't taste as good. Of course they didn't, they were dying, with sagging skin and rotten flesh, but hell. They were meat! Her lips were suddenly dry at the thought of such warm blood, and she licked them desperately. Her eyes still on the male. Just Follow My Lead - Ash - May 14, 2012 [dohtml] Opening his mouth to "speak" he said, You run up and wear them out and I will take them down? He didn't know if she would understand but it was worth a try. Smiling at her he licked her cheek again affectionately. She was a nice little wolf. Someone he wouldn't mind for company. He would make sure to keep an eye on his little Treena, no matter what it took for him. ooc: Sorry it's short. I honestly didn't know what to write. :P Just Follow My Lead - Treena - May 14, 2012 Treena tried her best, she really did. But all she was moving lips, no matter how hard she focused. It was humorous. She gave up halfway and started making up fake sentences, all of which outrageous that fit his mouth shapes. She watched intently, his sturdy muzzle revealing such clean sparkling teeth, but no words came to mind. Trying hard not to crack a smile the she-wolf interrupted his instructions and grabbed a mouthful of his fur, pulling softly to get him to shut up. “I don’t understand a word of what you’re saying.” She laughed, her rough tongue caressing his fur relaxingly. Her voice was so light and playful that there was absolutely no negative energy in it, just a fluttering happiness that sent her chewing on him like a pup. There really was no keeping her quiet for long, deer or no deer. Her rump suddenly dropping to the floor she started to groom his shoulder, where she had noticed a speck of dirt. The hunt in the back of her mind she desperately starting to lick him clean. Now focused with determination, she needed to make his fur perfectly spotless before finishing this hunt. Between mouthfuls of cleaning, she tilted her head on an angle where she could get a couple mouthfuls out. “I think we’re good, as long as we’re quiet. You talk, I clean.” Really her words came out like, "I dink aire od, das ong das aire wiot," her voice slurring the entire time. "Ew auch. Aye ean," but the message was still the same. Maybe one day they would learn baby and lip-reading in order to understand eachother. Just Follow My Lead - Ash - May 14, 2012 [dohtml] Before she could even finish her sentence Ash was laughing, his large chest booming with laugher. "What are you saying?" Ash's voice was louder than he had intended it to be as he stared at Treena. He nuzzled her cheek lightly to show her that he wasn't insulting her, just merrily happy by the fact that the two of them couldn't speak to each other sometimes. His eyes were gleaming with amusement and his lips we drawn up into a grin as he licked the female's forehead lightly. Just Follow My Lead - Treena - May 14, 2012 The she-wolf was sprawled out, back-legs facing different directions, forepaws following after. Her head was tilted on such an odd angle, when she tried to speak it came out as gurgling. She spat out fur, shifting until she was comfortable again, admiring the clean fur. “What a master-piece I’ve made.” She wanted to relax in the moment, only the sound of her grumbling stomach bringing her back to reality. When the moment was over her ears brought back the sound of lapping tongues, quickly reassuring the wolf that the meal had not left. “You can charge them. I’ll circle around and drive them towards you. You’re the most likely to take one down, I’ll just be there to chomp on the heels.” She nodded. It seemed like a good plan. There was a slight chance that together they could grab hold of one, right? Failure wasn’t an option. She wanted a deer, and she’d get one, for her and Ash. Turning on her paws she kept her head low, neck strained as she slowly lifted a graceful paw. She would circle them all the way around and jump out, do what she said she would. Mouth closed, nose flaring as the scent became even more tempting. She was well on her way. Slowly disappearing she was still in hearing distance of Ash, giving him a smile or two over her shoulder as she went. It was now fairly dark, but she could sense the deer. She could almost feel their heartbeat. She wanted this food badly, and she’d get it. Just Follow My Lead - Ash - May 16, 2012 [dohtml] Ash honesty couldn't remember the last time he had shared a hunt with someone else besides himself. He actually wasn't sure if he had ever shared a hunt with anyone else. Probably not. . .after he thought about it for awhile. In the other lands he had traveled in her had always been the social outcast. He had never quite had a friend and this wasn't new to him but he was close to Treena. The two shared a bond that no one could ever break, no matter what happened no one would ever be able to break the two apart. They had a special bond, the one where they just clashed perfectly together. Everything was fine at the moment. Just Follow My Lead - Treena - May 17, 2012 Treena had to be quiet, leading herself across the path with a look of hunger. The scent was like a drug. The more she inhaled the more she needed more, her body craving to a point of desperation. Each step took her closer, excitement drilling into her soul. She was running, as if her energy was endless. Her golden ears flickered forward, drawn by the panting deer, the lapping tongues, and the sound of thudding hooves. A twisted grin was formed on her face, a darker side of the she-wolf appearing. Killing was instinct. The chase, the capture, the power. It was all part of the game, and Treena was a star player. Herding was quite boring, setting the playing field up, getting ready for the actual game. It was like stacking the cards, a necessary part of success, yet so unappealing. Making her way through the darkest shadows, the she-wolf heard her paw snag on a twig. It snapped under her weight, a slight but hearable noise. She froze, trying to become one with the ground. From what she could see, the animals had heard. Head high in the air they all looked desperately in every direction, searching for the killer. The animals sensed her presence, something she was unprepared for. She only had a second to look over the crowd of scrambling deer, searching for a sickly newborn. Cursing her own clumsiness the wolf revealed herself. The adult males had already taken off, stronger females sprinting after. Treena was unhappy with the selection, such pity creatures these were. Yet, a meal was a meal. It made her job easier, watching a younger female fall behind the others she tried to catch up. Eyes wide, watching her food run away, the wolf was determined to make up the loss. Tons of others had been sent in Ash’s direction, yet she hoped she didn’t dare take any down. The males were large, dangerous. The last thing she needed was him breaking a leg on her. She had no idea how to cure anything of the sort, and watching him in pain was intolerable. Hopefully he’d see who she was after. Just Follow My Lead - Ash - May 17, 2012 [dohtml] As the males approached he tilted his head slightly before deciding to go to the smallest one. He knew he wouldn't be able to take down this deer by himself, but he had definitely had to try. He could only hope that Treena was hot on the males' heels. Launching himself into the air he latched onto one the of male's throats. Now he could only hope that Treena was behind the male and that she would help him, but then the most horrible thing happened. One of the males next to him rammed him. . .right in the leg. A yowl of pain erupted from Ash and he immediately dropped on the ground. Pain was erupting within him and he knew that he wouldn't be able to get back up. Wincing in pain he yowled for Treena only hoping that no more deer were on their way towards him. Just Follow My Lead - Treena - May 17, 2012 Treena’s muzzle was inches away from the small and worthless deer, slobbering as she got closer, and closer, finally her teeth dug into the animal, pulling in down. Her fur bristled, eyes shining like gold as she ran a trembling tongue over the wound. She was almost there, until Ash’s scream echoed through the breeze, hitting her like a bomb. He hadn’t run. He hadn’t gotten away. It was her fault. A chill ran through her body, all instinct gone as she ran from the wounded animal and into the herd of deer coming his way, leaving the creature to bleed in an attempt to find safety. “Ash! Ash! There are more, run!” It was pointless, it was too late. The creatures were terrified of her very presence. They spun in different directions, trying to escape, running quicker towards her protector. A hit to the shoulder from a back-leg sent her tumbling, but she managed to get up and keep running through the deer, passing them until she got to where Ash was wrestling with a large brute. She let out a hiss, mostly anger at herself. How could she have made such a stupid mistake? Her insolence had cost her protector a hurt leg. Had she not guessed such a thing? She turned from looking at him with scared eyes, turning and howling at the on-coming deer. She was a road-block. They had to go through her to get to Ash, who was still fighting the massive kill. “Let it go Ash. I don’t need the deer. Let it go. It’s too big.” She tried to hiss the words, trying to hide her fear with a strong anger. It cracked, desperate and begging. She was pleading him. She wasn’t that hungry. Would he let it go? It didn’t matter. These deer where idiots, too frightened to think properly as they tried to trample over the she-wolf. She wouldn’t let them. Snapping her teeth she ran back and forth, forcing all animals to turn. Of course it didn’t always work. The larger ones seemed oblivious to her presence, running her over as she tried to keep them all away from Ash. She let out howls, trying to scare them off while still helping Ash. Limping a back foot she turned and snapped her fangs into Ash’s capture, dragging it back while still herding off the others. “Damnit Ash, just let it go!” Just Follow My Lead - Ash - May 17, 2012 [dohtml] Hopping over to her he literally buried his muzzle into her due breathing in her scent, much like she had done the first time they had met, it was a comfort to know that she was alive but knowing if she was okay or not was a whole different story. Now the two of the could finally talk. The animals around then had dispersed leaving only the two of them and their next meal. Turning to met her face he covered her face in affectionate licks before nuzzling her. Opening his mouth he said in a strong, pained voice, "Are you alright? Im worried about you." Ash's light green eyes roamed Treena carefully not even realizing he hadn't bothered checking his own injuries yet. . .those could wait. Tilting his head he stared at Tre expectantly waiting patiently for an answer. |
