Sleeping in silence.... - Durai - Jul 13, 2012 A silver-gray shape billowed in the wind blowing through the trees. In the midst of colorful wildflowers and an assortment of grasses, the male loner lay, sound asleep, rocked to this state by the nice air and soft winds. The shape was breathing heavy, as in a deep sleep. Like in hibernation. A rabbit lay in front of the shape, picked clean. Durai had just eaten his first meal in a week. His usually one fifty pounding had become one forty in that small slice of time, but if he kept eating like this he would easily gain ten pounds. The shape rolled over to its side. He would've never crossed if he really had the choice, but one-he was starving....and two-he never backed down from his down dare. When he crossed, he stepped carefully. But after he had finally reached the clearing, he relaxed, hunted, and drank the water. It was all picture perfect, like a dream. And the rabbit tasted so good, he had even gone for a second-but got tired and fell asleep. Like a pup would after feeding. It had been half an hour of sleep, and no one had spotted him. It was always hard to grasp onto the fact that if you turned around and smiled you wouldn't be greeted with the face and voice that you were looking for, only another. It seemed as though many couldn't grasp the fact. . .Nina being one of them. She used to be a strong independent woman, one who didn't rely on many wolves for anything. But it seemed that her fate had changed from the time. She no longer could hunt for herself or fight, for the time being. She was deemed useless. She had help from many of her pack mates, some of them being Kashikoi, Pakuna, and Sloane. She hadn't wished to bother the rest of her pack mates; mainly meaning Aeylen and Ruiko, for she didn't want to interrupt their time with their precious darlings. Around the time of noon it was hot and Nina was walking through the forest throughout the springs, when another wolf's scent was brought upon her nostrils. Not familiar. . .loner, make and across the borders. Anger and protectiveness of her pack swarmed through the female. Her pace, however, did not pick up. She was immobilized to the pace she was at. Her laws slide through the forest, for she knew the paths as she knew her herbs and came upon the creek. There lying right next to the creek was a large male, around the same age as her and scrawny. The anger she was feeling melted as her one good emerald eye took him in. Next to him lie a rabbit and the golden brown female soon swept the bones into the creek before nudging the male gently with her nose. He would need to get away from their territory, or at least a little away from their boundaries of he wanted to escape un-injured. The sight of Koda and Kash briefly flashed through her eyes as she muttered gently to the male, "You need to get up." Sleeping in silence.... - Durai - Jul 13, 2012 Durai came to his senses slowly. His pelt burned and his ears ached. Falling asleep in the middle of the day wasn't fun. His eyes adjusted to the bright light and he panted. His ears slowly bent back as his amber eyes swept across a hideous she wolf. Her eye was closed shut by a scar, her pelt was littered with pink scar marks, and she had a really bad limp. She was of no doubt part of the pack that lived here. He sat up and let an uncontrollable, wide yawn seep out. He shook his pelt and licked it clean swiftly before answering her, because he wasn't afraid of her. If anything, he was larger-but less experienced. He frowned. "I thought I'd be meat by now...." He murmured so no one in this area could hear. His ears popped up when a bird tweeting in the distance, ringing in his ear lobes. Another sharp wind blew by, reminding him of his once again thirst. He got up and walked towards the water, where he bent his head down and lapped at it for what seemed like minutes as he waited for her response. The water, so cold and refreshing, reminded him of the arctic water where he grew up for a few moments. He closed his eyes.. Just like old times.. He thought, shuddering and opening them with the realization: Dairu was homesick, and his family was gone. He whined to himself softly. No more pack life in the arctic. But that didn't mean he couldn't start anew. He thought about it. Loneliness has be gnawing at him for a year now. Joining meant a family, food, bonds, a chance to see pups grow up. He raised his head and let out a deep breath. The heat overtook him again, swiping him away from the arctic. She wouldn’t have been surprised if he was horrified by her appearance, for she had been horrified with herself at first, but now she knew she had some of her former beauty back. The male’s words came out in a mumble and she had to strain her small ears to hear them. Her lips then twitched into a small smile. He was hungry. . .just as she had predicted and he had needed to cross their borders to get something. . .perhaps it was their fresh, cold water from the creek. Whether it be that or not it didn’t matter now. He had to get out before one of her pack mates saw him. And that was why soon after she answered in a soft voice, "You will be soon if you don‘t get out of my pack‘s territory." Her words came out politely and quickly, her voice soft. She wasn’t whispering, but to others who didn’t know her, they would know that it was simply her normal voice that she was using. Her muzzle instantly sneaked out to nudge him gently towards the borders in encouragement. He obviously wasn’t afraid of her, which didn’t bother her, but it didn’t happen to slightly anger her that he had crossed the borders. The only thing that she had to remind herself of though was that she understood. Sleeping in silence.... - Ruiko - Jul 15, 2012 [dohtml] [/dohtml] Sleeping in silence.... - Durai - Jul 21, 2012 Mind racing with thoughts and decisions, Durai wondered how hard it would be to actually join? Deep inside of him, the loner felt a warning growl rise up from him. He definitely didn't want to be taken as weak, no matter how inexperienced he was or appeared. In his head, he was screaming in horror. What was he doing? There was still a chance that his family was still alive, and also, he was by far outnumbered. And the wolf he was speaking to was a leader... Getting injured would be no simple task to deal with out by himself. But, sadly, Durai was no subordinate in his actions. Although his body coiled into a submissive stance, he was showing his teeth until he finally stopped growling. He held the older wolf's eyes in his own dark amber brown for a few milliseconds, but then averted them respectfully. He would not challenge this wolf. The injury wasn't worthwhile. "I'm sorry that I have intruded your land." He bit back a buttery whine. He still held his pride. After all, his objective was to join them, right? He kept his position, because the opponent would take any other movement as an attack. "I wasn't thinking straight, and I was starving...thirsty...tired.." Durai paused. He didn't know what else to say. He tucked his tail between his legs even more, bracing for some kind of angry attack. He let out a whine and shut his eyes for about five seconds... She obviously had no hold over him and it seemed that she had not done her job correctly, for soon her alpha, Ruiko Tainn, walked into the clearing. She backed away from the stranger, her tail and ears ducking and her head lowering. When he leader finally reached them, he was to his complete height, and truly. . .it scared the crap out of Nina at times, because quite frankly, it reminded her of her brother and his enormous weight. When Ruiko spoke, it seemed as if his words rang throughout the forest, demanding all attention to be on him. Her tongue extended to her leader’s cheek in a quick greeting before her eyes drifted back to the stranger. When he answered her leader’s question, it wasn’t respectful but it wasn’t mean either. Her one emerald eye zoned in on him and she briefly saw a wolf who wanted a family and it was then, peace at mind was drawn to Nina. This wolf had been starving and he had been willing to take the risk of crossing the borders to eat. The fact that they had pups in the pack did not help his case what so ever. But an extra hunter would do the pack well. . .for Nina was no longer capable of doing any labor involving running. And it was then when the stranger closed his eyes, did Nina give a soft whine directed at Ruiko, and her good eye looked up at him. . .seeming to plead to spare this other lone wolf. Sleeping in silence.... - Ruiko - Jul 23, 2012 [dohtml] [/dohtml] Sleeping in silence.... - Durai - Jul 23, 2012 The silver wolf coiled even more. A wind blew again, and it made his eyes avert to the Nubilous sky above his head for a few seconds, but in his head, that seemed like hours. He did not look at anything but his paws. He knew his growl was disrespectful, but he still had done it and challenged the leader. Adding to it, he has trespassed his land, and endangered his pups. Now that Durai was thinking about his serious charges against this wolf, he wanted to redo all of this. Actually, he wanted to run away-but that wasn't like him. Stubborn, daring, bold, weak, mindless Durai refuses to run away, no matter how much pain he's caused to this poor wolf. Now, he was going to pay. Somehow, he was going to end up injured, dead, or the lowest rank in the pack. With silent regret, the wolf glanced at Nina, who had whined in his defense. He had nothing to say, so he stayed silent and looked at his paws. His ears were on his head, but he began to un-tense the slightest bit. He didn't know what else to do, but what he did know was that the man looming over him had the power to kill him right then and there, and that was enough to scare him into submission five times over. Sleeping in silence.... - Nina - Jul 24, 2012 [dohtml] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/bluepups/NinaTable.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding-top: 312px; padding-bottom: 20px; padding-left: 15px; padding-right: 15px; text- align:justify;"> Her heart was beating fiercely, as she waited for any sign that Ruiko had heard her. . .and he had. His eyes were still on the lone wolf, not that she blamed him, but his ears were on her. With a quick glance at the male, she saw his eyes briefly on her before his head ducked towards the ground. He had been scared of her massive leader, not that it didn’t shock her. Many feared Ruiko, but Nina was one of the ones that knew of his large heart. She was soon back up to some of her height as she approached Ruiko cautiously, her ears perking had the sound his voice. And when it didn’t seem like the male was going to defend himself, she did for him. Her maw was soon open, and she looked up at dark male when she answered, "Ruiko, he is starving and yet he still managed to catch something. He needed some food, and this is the only place he could get it. If he is interested in joining. . .then it would always be great to have another hunter. As you may or may not know, I am incapable of hunting now. . . Another to help feed your darlings should not go unwanted." He words were soft, so that the male crouching in front of them could not hear. She would not make her leader a fool in front of the lone wolf, and she would surely not admit her weakness aloud. Not soon after her words ended did she step back from her place beside Ruiko and crouched down behind him, her emerald eye glowing on the lone wolf. If he were to make any false movements towards her leader then she would defend him, just as she had done with Treena. The thought of the young female brought a soft pang to her heart. They were sisters now. . .and it meant that Nina was now completely authorized to protect her, just as she had been doing in the first place. Only now. . .she had a better reason. |
