Realist - Anglo - Mar 30, 2013

The sun was just setting, and the wolf was on the prowl. His black paws carrying him swiftly for being such large of frame. He slips through the dead-looking trees that were to come back to life any day now. His ears are perked, and his eyes are quick. His head tilts upwards to scent the air.

Now his head lowers, and he continues along. His pace has gotten quicker. Within moments, adrenaline takes over his body. He doesn't care if the prey can here him coming: he wanted it to. His large paws press down against the softening earth. What he was doing was a risk, but he was starving. He finally hears the beating of hooves against the ground. With golden eyes narrowing, Anglo keeps training forward.

He depended on his stamina. He has been in these woods for a few days, and was getting to know the layout. Suddenly, his target came into view. It was a weak yearling deer- no, barely a year old. Both it and its mother were undernourished, but that was the only way Anglo would be able to get a good meal. He charges forward and snaps at the fawn's heels. The mother knows there will be no chance for her offspring to survive. Anglo finally grabs a hind leg, and forces his jaws down upon it. His powerful neck whips his head to the side, where he clamps onto the neck of the fawn, and kills it. Dropping the kill, he pants heavily before seating himself and beginning to eat. After awhile, he stops to rest, but remains on guard.
