The loner had been instantly attracted to the large body of water placed in the middle of a forest, the trees acting as a protective barrier. It had reminded of her home, and although she was trying to put that part of her life behind her it frequently haunted her thoughts during her journey. Other than the problems arising with her brother, Koop had no quarrels with any of her family members — she adored them, especially her parents, but had wanted a change from the tribe lifestyle. The girl had vowed to return to her family once she found what she was looking for (whatever that was), but until then she wanted to experience as much as she could while being away from her family. Wanderlust had driven the yearling away from the only home she had ever known, but change was

Although this was normally how the tomboy liked to look, she felt self-conscious about looking so ...
scruffy. A frown stretched over her features as she lifted her head, brows furrowed while she glanced around. She was alone, completely and utterly alone. A sigh slipped out, staining the air with her obvious discomfort. she missed home, but if she returned now she would feel like a failure. Koop knew her mother was waiting for her to return, with her tail tucked between her legs — her mother did not think that she could manage on her own, and the fiery-eyed girl wanted to prove her wrong.
Reluctantly she flopped down at the edge of the water, her eyes wandering over the surface. She was pleased with her choice of a temporary den site — this would do for now while she was trying to figure out what to do next. Koop knew that she couldn't last much longer on her own; she was going to have to find a pack to join (whether for good, or temporarily).
