Bad Boy in the Hood - Titan - Aug 01, 2013

[dohtml]

Titan knew that he wasn't allowed to leave the den. He knew that his mom and dad would be angry with him if he ever decided to leave the den and explore a little. Ever since Malia was brought back after her adventure Titan knew that his mom might cry if he and his siblings disappeared from the den again. Titan didn't want to see her cry again. He wanted momma to be happy.

He knew all of this.

S-so how did I getted here? Titan looked around timidly unable to recognize his surroundings. He thought he'd been going the right direction, but obviously the dark boy had been very wrong. This was the wrong forest, and the scents of his pack mates were no where to be found.

The shadowy young lad had chased a butterfly out of the main den out into the woods. It was that bright yellow flying creature that evaded his every attack. In the end Titan had been thwarted by the swift creature as it flew just out of his reach. Then on his way back down the young pup tripped and fell into a muddy puddle. Horrified by the sticky stuff clinging to his small legs and dark fur, Titan waddled out onto the bank and tried to rub against a tree to get the smelly mud off. It didn't work that well, and in the end he stood there suddenly frightened of his surroundings shivering with mud up his legs and over his belly.

That was when he decided to find his way back. The woods looked like the kind that were outside of the cave den. He did not know how large the forest where his mothers territory lay really was. Nor did he realize that he was headed in the complete opposite direction from Whisper Caverns borders.

The pup had walked for a very long time at first confidently through the willows. However as the hours passed by Titan found himself growing more and more scared at every strange scent and sound that the forest exposed to him.

"Momma.. Maaaammaaaaa... I wand to go home. Mammaa.." The calls echoed tiredly from the young Thorbens muzzle as he staggered along straight towards what might be his saving grace. Willow Ridge borders were close. However his calls wouldn't just bring wolves to him.

Titan did not know how much danger he could be in.

He was not surprised with himself to find that he was casually strolling towards the borders to mark them. Every day he did so, unless he was running an errand or needed some peace for awhile, and it had ended up becoming a daily routine. His large bulky form moved gracefully towards where he first was marking the borders and for most of the time he spend doing his run, everything was running smoothly and nothing eventful happened, until he heard a tiny voice screeching for his mother. At first he thought that one of his lady’s pups had gotten loose, but then he remembered that Skana had been keeping a careful eye on them and immediately, he pushed such a feeling away. Still, the fact that a pup was all alone was enough to rattle him enough to leave the rest of the borders unattended, knowing that whoever skimmed over the area next would finish what he had started as an unwritten oath.

What he did find was not something that he had expected. At first he did not realize that the pup standing there was Titan, due to the heavy dirt scent that he carried on him. What gave him away were the eyes, the same eyes that had opened weeks before when he had visited the pups and Narimé for what could have been called a check-up visit. A soft, comforting growl rumbled in his chest at he looked down upon his sister in law’s first born child and spoke strongly, "Titan..what are you doing so far away from Narimé and Sloane?" He asked the boy this as calmly as he could, letting his golden amber eyes sweep the perimeter to make sure that there wasn’t any danger lurking around to take the small pup away from him. He did not wish to get his throat torn out my his brother and his mate and the only way to do so would be to make sure no harm upon their child.

Titans cries were finally answered. The young pup froze as a russet form separated from the landscape and trotted his way. The huge wolf was so tall that Titan had to crane his little head awkwardly to get a good look at the male who approached. The scent. Maybe he had scented this wolfs smell before, but Titan really couldn't remember the uncle who'd visited him for a short time only once before. The young pups eyes grew wide with curiosity. Sure he was intimidated by the mans form, but it was oddly familiar. The scent wasn't dad, but the wolf certainly looked like him. It was only when Guiness spoke that Titan was sure that this wolf was not father.

He so big. No growling oh yelling. He don't look mad oh sad. Is he nice? Titan reasoned out innocently in his head that this was a good wolf. Not someone to be scared of even if he was big like daddy.

Thinking back on Guiness' question Titan wagged his tail. He know momma and daddy. Why? Wiggling with excitement and an energy he had not had previously Titan bounded up to Guiness long legs then looked up at the man with curious blue eyes.

"You know momma and pappa. Who are you?" The pup didn't even stop to think of how Guiness had even known his name. All that mattered to the young boy was how this stranger knew his parents. "I wanna go home bud I dunno where I am. Is home dis way?" Titan began padding past Guiness excitedly with a bounce in his step. The dark pup knew he was going the right way! It shoulda be only a tiny farther now! patience was not something this young pup seemed to know of yet.

If it would have been any other situation, Guiness would probably have looked on in amusement at the way Titan was acting. The fact that he was not home and safe did change that though and the Guard listened attentively to what the young man said. It turned out that Narimé’s oldest son did not remember him when he had visited, which did not surprise him considering they had just been born about a week prior to his visitation. Clearing his throat so that he could speak, his deep voice rumbled through the empty air, "I am your father’s brother…your uncle." He then watched in wonder as the young boy sauntered behind him, back towards where Willow Ridge is, instead of where he was suppose to be. Shaking his head he took a confident step in front of Titan, speaking lowly once again, "No, young man…you are heading the wrong way. Would you like me to walk home with you?"

Guiness had found in the past that asking a pup if they wanted them to bring or escort them home, it would cause some sort of miscommunication. In truth the Willow man would not mind getting some time with his nephew. When he had visited Narimé had mentioned hoping that Titan would become a great Guardian just like he was, and it sprouted his interest in knowing that he could possibly help in making his step sister feel better. Sweeping his tail, he reminded himself to wait for the young pup’s answer before heading off. Insulting or giving him the wrong idea was the exact opposite of what Guiness wanted to happen.

Titan cocked his head when the russet man told him that he was family. The boys black tail paused in its wagging as the young lad thought about this guy being his "uncle." But uncle who? Titan resumed his excited tail wagging while padding around the large male.

"That's why you look like daddy! " His voice laughed and the young male strode closer to the big somebody. This wolf was definitely one to be trusted. Especially if he was family!

"So whad's your name? Since you know mine." Titan queried cocking his shadowy black head; eyes locked onto Guiness' amber ones as he clawed at a shiny red lady bug scrambling over the earth.

Titan had tried heading forward again only to be stopped by the red man. A large paw stood in his way along with the mans rumbling voice. The voice warned the pup that he was headed the wrong direction. "So this way then?" Titan turned 180 degrees around with a quick flick of his dark legs. It surprised the boy that he didn't trip up on himself doing the quick turn. Raising his head proudly Titan started padding along lifting his legs high as if in a marching band trying to show off to the larger male.

"You can walk width me if you like." Titan responded to "uncles" question with an air of nobility now. As if he were the king already and the russet man was a follower. Titan would allow him to walk alongside him back towards home.

"One day I wand to help mom and daddy width their work! Only I can do it because I'm the strongest. My sister doesn't listen to anyone and brother is too weak. So I will protect them!" Titan boasted puffing out his chest completely unafraid of his current "lost, far from home" situation.

No why should he worry when he had his uncle beside him?

He truly did enjoy spending time with his nephew. It was not as bad as he thought it would be, though he did fear that one day he would actually step on one of his nephews of his feisty niece. When He silently scolded himself when he realized that he had not given his same to Titan and quietly he let his low voice rumble, "Guiness Thorben." He then proceeded to listen to the young man talk about whatever he felt needed, and soon the Guard felt a small smile tug along his usually stoic face, nodding his head as Titan gave him permission to walk with him. In the gentleman, use to royalty, type of man he was, he replied with an instant formal response, "Of course, Prince Titan." He then moved effortlessly, watching the young boy below him as he began to talk about his future. As he continued to talk and speak of his family, he felt his smile grow into a frown due to the fact that the boy way berating his siblings. Never in Guiness’s life had any of his siblings talked bad about one another, for it simply wasn’t the Thorben way, but now Guiness found himself having to continuously reminding himself that Narimé was very different from the morals that the Thorben Pack had set up long ago.

Clearing his throat as they walked back towards Whisper Caverns, he spoke calmly, "Don’t doubt your brother, Prince Titan, one day he may be much bigger than you. I was the runt in my litter." What he said was true. Guiness had always been the smallest one in his litter and he had ended up becoming larger than all of his siblings, even the ones not in the same litter than him. He was even bigger than the boy’s father, Sloane. It didn’t please him to find that his brother’s son was saying such things about his siblings, but he decided not to bring it up. When he finally approached the borders to his brother’s pack, he lifted his head as his deep rumbling call echoed for @Sloane or @Narime. He did not wish for them to worry about anything…say their missing son.

Titan nodded his head as Guiness padded along with him. Though the boy was not used to being called prince so his steps faltered a bit until the child regained his calm outward appearance. Dats right I'm a prince... Titan reminded himself of the title even though it was rarely if ever used back home around the cave.

They walked for a while passing clumps of late blooming yellow fall dandelions and purple hued asters. The dark furred pup had his head tilted to one side as he listened to the rumble of his elder uncles voice. Surprise spread across the young males features when he heard Guiness speak of once being the runt of his litter. "Were you really?" The curious voice tried to imagine the rusted man as a pup just shorter than he was. It was quite hard for the dark lad to think of the man as a "runt" when he was a child.

"Well I hope Yuka grows up soon. I want to play with him more. It's usually just me and Malia playing while Yuka sits with mom and watches. " Titan sighed knowing that his brother never played with them because their play fights would get too rough. The gray boy always seemed to get hurt so easily. Titan was willing to go easier on his brother if it meant that they could all have fun. The young Thorben felt bad looking at his brother sitting alone while he had fun.

"I try not to hurt him when we do play though... Cause I don't want him to stop..." Titan whined softly. The young boy was only just learning of how to be gentle. A trait which his father and uncle knew so well.

Before he even realized it Titan was blasted by his parents and their subordinates scents. Shaking his silver tipped ruff the black child stopped at the border and sniffed at it. "Momma and Pappa. This is home! I can find my way back now!" Titan turned to look up at the man to thank him however Guiness had lifted his head and began howling. "No no! I can find my way back!" Titan growled at his large uncle alarm clear on his face.

What Titan thought was that if he returned home by himself it would show Narimé that he could travel around the territory by himself and she would let him out more to roam around. But... if she finds me with him then she'll know I got lost and never let me out of the den!! Titan whined loudly trying to get the male to stop howling. Then the dark boy turned and tried to run forward straight into the territory to get away from this "Uncle Guiness" who was about to get him into trouble.

His nephew looked at him with what could have been a disbelieving glance. His own question came for clarification and all Guiness did was allow his head to bob up and down in answer. Even though Titan was family, Guiness still wasn’t much of a talker, so when they were nearing the Whisper Cavern borders and the little boy continued to talk, the man had a satisfaction in knowing that soon he would be in the peace and quiet of his own thoughts. With a soft sigh, he patiently waited for the boy’s mother or father to come. He then came to a spot, looking down at the young boy, an amused look passing through his face before it was once again cold and solid. "Perhaps your brother just doesn’t….enjoy playing." It wouldn’t come as a mystery to him. Many wolves within the Thorben family hadn’t been very playful when they had been smaller, though Sloane certainly hadn’t been one of them, many of the Thorben wolves held that trait.

When he had called for his brother and his mate, he was met with protests from his nephew. Guiness wasn’t trying to “rat him out” as Titan so easily called it, but the Guard had alternative motives. "I wish to see my brother, my dear nephew." It had been awhile since Guiness had seen @Sloane and he knew that it was time for the brothers to get acquainted with one another again. Ever since they had found their brother in the Lore things still hadn’t been so close with them. Things were highly hectic around Willow Ridge and Gui was always finding himself trying to execute his duties to the best of his abilities, which sometimes proved fatal for time that he could spend with his family. Not all hope was lost for him though…even if he was still coming here, performing his duties as a faithful Guardian should.

Titan thought hard for a moment. Why would anyone not like playing? Even his mother had dropped down to their level just to play with the Thorben brood. He couldn't answer back to the larger male even if Titan wanted to. He had no answer to give.

Reluctantly the dark boy waited with Guiness wondering if his father had even heard the call. His chin held up once more and mischievous eyes glinted back at his rusty coated uncle. "Maybe he's already busy?" Titan might be lucky today. He wouldn't get into trouble if his father was already busy with something else.

A hawk screeched high in the air above the pair of wolves. Titan's ears angled towards the noise then his gaze settled lightly upon the floating dot high above them. He wondered how strong birds could be if they could float through the air so high up like that. Sitting there doing nothing was boring the child, and sometimes it was bad for him to sit too long thinking on things. He would always start imagining weird things. Like right now his imagination was pretending that the hawk was flying loops in the sky and coming towards them with a crazy glint in its eyes.

"Uncle Guiness are dose big birds up in da sky dangerous?" He asked nonchalantly still quite bored by their sitting near the border for so long. The dark Thorben was quite ready to be done with this place and head back to the den for some food. His stomach had begun growling again telling the child to "FEED ME!" like it always did.
