Rattle and Roll - Naira - Aug 08, 2013 A Rumble can be heard coming from the Mountain of Dire [dohtml] As the mountain growled beneath her, Naira dared to growl back. It had been some time since the last bout of groans and growls, and they had seen everything from avalanches to rock slides and mild earthquakes, the mountain reforming before their very eyes with paths opening up in both directions, but that had been when snow had coated the earth and for a time, and it had reflected her mood at the time perfectly, just another instability that she needed to ride out. But now that things were calmer, well she wasn’t pleased with anything that interrupted her relative peace. Suspecting at this time of day, with the sun high in the sky, that her daughters would be well clear of the den, she felt no need to rush back and check on them. Her ears did remain perched high atop her head however, just in case there were any further indications of drama to come. With nothing to be heard from her high vantage point, she decided to call to her pack, just in case, letting them know that all was well with her, but that if any needed assistance to raise the alarm now. If any chose to join her on the high ridge she would welcome the company, but if a call went up she was also ready to move. Another bout of rumbling shook the earth beneath her paws, this time significantly stronger than before. Birds fled their nests and the whole mountain groaned but the ground remained steady, no tell-tale roar of cascading snow, no rattle of slipping stones. Still her hackles stood on end and she watched her home closely, waiting to hear if she was needed. "Speech." |
