RE: no escaping gravity - Lalani - Mar 14, 2014 Lalani's dark thoughts permeated through her mind, fogging her thoughts, tainting them. It was as if every one of them was being painted with a grey coating. She tried to steer them elsewhere in order to cheer herself up, but it was no use. Even with the happy ones, her brain started to pick out the bad things and made her second guess everything. It was hard, fighting through this dark mental shroud. She wasn't sure how she had managed to lose it the first time. It was so easy to get sucked back into the black hole. It would be so much easier to let it swallow you. She knew that had it been Caniri, he would have been able to find the bright side in anything. The darkness wouldn't have been able to throw a shroud over the personal sun her seemed to carry inside him. Lani was almost certain that she was never going to rid her mind of the horrible images and heart braking memories, when something tickled at her nose, slowly pulling her back to herself. Nose twitching, she waited. It couldn't be, could it? It smelled like... Lifting her head slowly, ears perked, she scanned her surroundings. At first she didn't see anything, but a shift of movement near the trees caught her eye. There. It was a family of deer, not very large, maybe six at most. Lani was frozen, watching as the animals stepped cautiously from the tree line, head toward the lagoon. They were probably looking for a drink. The deer always had an easier time breaking through the ice than the wolves did, what with having hooves and all. They were father down the bank, small figures even with Lani's good vision. Turing her head towards the white male, she asked, "Do you want to see if we can take one? Its worth a try." She wasn't very hopeful in his response. Judging by the way he hadn't seemed to want to be around her before, she wasn't sure why he would want to hunt with her. She hoped that he was just hungry enough to agree. "We could use the food. The pack needs something to add to the caches." She kept one ear cocked in his direction as she studied the deer. One looked to be older and thinner than the rest. It probably wasn't likely to last the winter. It trailed behind as they walked to the frozen surface. That was good news. "It even seems that someone out there has taken a shine to us, because we might even have a chance of taken down the granny there." It was strange to think that someone would be looking out for them. Lani didn't believe that anyone was out there watching over her. Her luck had been shit so far. Which is why the first part of her statement was sarcastic. It was more likely the stupidity and desperation of the deer. Re: - Spirit of Wildwood - Mar 14, 2014 There are several fresh rabbit tracks in the snow. Hunt Opportunity RE: no escaping gravity - Lachesis - Mar 25, 2014 [dohtml] Although uncomfortable around his nameless pack mate, the silence that engulfed them made the situation a little more bearable. He wasn’t sure what to make of the talkative female just yet – initially he had taken an immediate disliking to her; however, as her voice became less frequent XIX found himself enjoying her company. It wasn’t that he found her annoying – it was just that he had not been in the mood for conversation. Once the female realized this her presence was not as irritating as it had once been.[/dohtml] |
