shapeshifter - Tannis - Jul 09, 2014 [dohtml] July 8th; Late evening, just before nightfall; Partly Cloudy; 68° F/20° C Oh, how his feet hurt and his spirit and heart had broken... Weeks and months of feeling restless and useless, it seemed, had finally taken its toll. Everywhere he went it seemed, he had to avoid being seen - often he had to resort to dragging himself along on his elbows and the heels of his feet, creeping through the thickets, and sliding through the mud along the shallow river beds along Heartleaf Creek. His stomach growled at him as he growled at himself, wishing he knew where he had ended up. This place did not look like the destination he had in mind. He had been looking for a grove of verdant willows, but had ended up in the company of cedars and firs instead. Tannis Andreas, obviously, was distinctively, indisputably, undoubtedly lost... and only one thing was for certain, he was going to make himself one big, unmissable foofaraw. Through the Cedarwood Forest he whined and cried, sometimes yelping as though some creature - a coyote or fox or even a murder of crows, perhaps - had been picking at him. Every turn he took brought him deeper into the wood and every step drove him further and further away from his original port of call. By twilight, he was hopeless, sniffling and sniveling like a lost cub that had been brought far away from home. He called out desperately into the gathering night, his voice muffled through the boughs of evergreen pine needles and closely rooted trees, "Mistress! Mistress! Where are you?!" |
