She was a terrible daughter. She had scarcely talked to anyone. Sure, she was around, but not really there. Day to day she felt like she was just breathing, going on cruise control. Now and again if she was lucky to catch something she might drop it off near the den. She did not bother to look in nor speak to her dear mother. Her father? Well, her tongue would not quite work to talk to him either. She had put some of the past behind her, but it wasn't all staying there.
What made her feel the most guilt was because she hadn't even tried to meet her new siblings. Hypatia had been in the background on the day of their birth, and had remained there since. So very afraid. Wasn't it better if she didn't know them? Didn't let them into her heart to steal its red pieces? She wasn't sure she could lose a part of her again. She was still....broken. And Hyp was convinced she was beyond repair. The tawny tinted wolf clung to the base of the tree, feinting sleep behind dark lined eyelids. The morning was a little chilly, and she didn't feel like moving any way. She had not planned to do anything different than she had. It was a tiny voice crying for help that changed that. Swiftly, orange eyes opened to the white haze. First she was puzzled, and than could faintly make out the dirt beneath her toes. Fog, was that the worry or something worse? When she had been little a nasty badger had come around, and the idea had her horrified. Jumping up, cautiously she worked her way through the trees and brush to that frail cry. "It's okay, I'm coming!" She yelled, earnestly trying to reach her little sister without injuring herself on the way. RE: lullabies are for babies - Takis - Jul 29, 2014 OMG Evy is too cute.

Six tail lengths from the den, a few more steps and she might have outrun it, but her curious nature forced pale paws to still. There was now a veil of white where great magnolias should have stood. Frowning, the princess craned her neck, searching for the landscape she knew had been there only an hour ago. That is when she realized that the mist was crawling, slowly overtaking the soil, and heading straight for her. She could have ran, gliding over the land that was hers, straight into the safety of home. Whether it was fear, or boldness that kept her rooted to the ground, Celanine never knew. Whatever it was though, it caused her to miss her chance, and just like that the only home she'd ever known was gone into the mist.
There was no time to despair however, because the great beast was still stalking her. It pulled itself closer still, grasping with willowy fingers and waiting to take her. Motionless, the youngest Argyris pinched her eyes tight. Only a few more seconds and it would eat her too. Yet minutes after she expected to be swallowed, there was still nothing. Then a voice called out, bright and clear was the voice of her sister. Hadn't the fog taken her when it nabbed the den? Chancing a peek, she cracked one bright amber eye, then a second. The world was lost in white, but she was still alive. "Vy?" Her voice carried, but the mist was disorienting. Had the den been in front of her, or off to the side? Then came another voice, one she knew vaguely to be her eldest sister. The broken one, who wasn't really a sister, and didn't really have siblings as far as Celandine knew. Then Takis, his comforting speech played on her ears, but she had trouble distinguishing where it came from without her eyes "Tak?" Letting the voices settle, she called again. "Where you?" It was unfavorable barely seeing in front of her own nose. That current annoying reality, only made her more determined to find little Evy. How alone, how lost she must feel in this haze. The emotion may consume her now, the tawny wolf with silvery mask wanted to right that wrong...and so many others.Hyp was puzzled where Takis and Celadine were it wasn't long till their voices reached her ears as well. They were all looking for their dark sister. If it were not for the situation Hypatia may have smiled how closely they watched one over one another. Instead, she tried to let her memories, and her senses guide her. "I'm here!" The fearful voice was closer now, and Hyp paused trying to focus, and mostly tell herself the fog would dissipate and so would the twist in her gut."I'm almost here Evy." Calmly she began, wondering how she kept her voice from shaking. It was only damn fog, but it was wracking her head like a twisted dream that wouldn't let her wake. Instead of reaching Evy, she about bumped into the ghostly figure of Celandine, the one who reminded her of mother. "Oh, Celandine," she muttered in surprise having to swiftly lean back, scarcely missing her little sister's nose. "I think Evy and Takis are this way," she gestured, rather certain they were about to the den. She had made the trip many times to and from both as a child and yearling. "Takis, Evy we will find you!" That "we" she hoped would entice Celadine to accompany her. She was hoping they wouldn't wander further away trying to reach the other. Sure enough, padding at snail speed the scent of the dark child reached her nostrils, and her orange eyes began scanning to see something different in the white. "Evy?" She tried again, hoping her voice would solidify her intuition.RE: lullabies are for babies - Takis - Sep 11, 2014 [dohtml] [/dohtml] RE: lullabies are for babies - Celandine - Sep 16, 2014 [dohtml] With the Earth gone, and only eerie voices to coax her on, the little princess began moving. Each step brought more fear than the last, as she wondered what direction she was heading. Was she moving farther away? Would she ever see them again? Shadows were dancing all around her, and it seemed the harder she tried to make them out, the scarier they became. It was no use. Paralyzed with fear the youngest Argyris gave up, curling up on the ground and cementing her eyes shut. All she could do now was wait for either the shadows, or a rescuer to find her. To her left, she picked up a scuffling noise, like that of paws against soil and it was headed straight for her. Cracking an amber eye, she could just make out a dark figure dancing towards her, but the mist was still thick. Her eyes were playing tricks on her again. They had to be. Summoning up all the courage she had left, the pale girl Chanced both eyes to scan the fog. Squinting in hopes to identify the creature, Celandine watched the edges solidify. It wasn't like the other shadows she'd seen; Shapeless things blowing this way and that. There was definitely something there. The shape grew more intense with each passing second. Until finally Hyp broke through the haze, nearly colliding with Celandine. Forgetting to be angry about the mishap, the youngest sibling nuzzled into Hypatia's leg. Thankfully, the eldest of the Argyris children had a plan, to which Celandine nodded. "Ok." After the trauma of being alone, the pale girl had no intentions of being left behind. Sticking as close to Hyp as possible, she called out too. "Vy?" There was a light hearted chuckle as Takis called her by a nickname she was secretly fond of. If it were a small reminder to her that it would be best to keep her head on straight for their sakes, and remember why she wasn't sinking into her own oblivion. Much like this smothering fog. White cloaked sister pressed to her, Hyp caressed the small princess' silver crown in turn. Then, lifted her head to answer Takis. "Cella is with me!" She hollered back, wanting more than ever to assure her little brother about something for a change. With Celandine sticking close, and helping in the search, the eldest Argyris grew confident. It was only a matter of time till they found the others. It was a small voice that helped guide her more precisely. "It's okay to be scared Evy. You know, you're being quite brave at the same time." It was with baby steps she cautiously sought the dark child. Then there was suddenly a small shadow appearing at her feet. "Ev! A ha, I told you I would find you." She planted a lick to her forehead. "Cella is right here, she just happens to blend in, huh Cel. We need to get to Tak," she murmured. Which would be a bit more difficult since he too was white. Orange eyes narrowed, and her nostrils flicked. "Tak, are we close?" She did not dare go too fast to start her search over again, and she was sure he was most anxious of all. |
