Gettin' Into Something - Kato - Aug 17, 2014

@Jynx

It was August, and the summer sun was making itself known. Panting heavily, the tawny boy flopped down at the top of a hill. Blackberries stretched away in the distance, and admittedly Kato might've eaten a few too many of them as he passed through. He'd been raised on less sugary foods, and their intoxicatingly sweet aroma was an invisible lasso tossed around his neck.

The fawn hued youth turned to snap irritably at a bug. Ever since he ran into an enormous clump of goldenrod a few hours ago they'd been all over him. Because of their bites, he had searched out water and taken a roll in some mud in an effort to keep them at bay. Even so, they had still been out to get him.

Thinking of the mud, which had mostly rubbed off by this time, Kato longed for a nearby stream in which he could wash up. He absolutely loathed being dirty, and though it was now hard to tell he had taken a mud bath that morning, the tawny boy was still annoyed by the idea of being dirty. A large, long yawn escaped him. He'd been walking around all day. The pads of his feet were sore, but luckily not scraped or cut.

Still panting, Kato allowed himself to shift into a position where he stayed stretched out flat on the ground. His tongue lolled out of his mouth, reaching for any small drops of moisture in the air. As the afternoon sun beat down on his fawn and silver form, it occurred to the boy how glad he was to be light colored.

Summer was definitely not Jynx's favorite season. In fact, it was the time of year she loathed most. The suffocating heat, the biting flies, the humidity...all of it. While it may be a time of plenty for many, that still did nothing to shake her feelings about it. Her priority on a hot day such as this, was too keep hydrated and stick to the shade. Although she was wearing her summer coat, a wolf could still easily overheat if they exerted themselves too much. So, on this blistering afternoon, Jynx Dirol was doing what she did best. Using her head.

Slowly, she was growing accustomed to her new surroundings here in Relic Lore, yet there were still many places she had not yet explored. And she was still homeless...for now. Large, sturdy paws carried her over the soft, earthy terrain of the fields, where blackberry bushes were scattered randomly. She came here not for the sweet fruit as a snack. In fact, the berries were of no interest to her this day. Hours ago, the rouge female had been hungry, and had succeeded in catching a young rabbit. However, the chase had been long and took it's toll. Too exhausted to eat, she would have to wait until her body cooled down before she could enjoy her snack. With the dark stain of blood lining her muzzle, her catch in her jaws, she checked under a few bushes for a place to rest. But the shade they provided was either too minimal, or they were simply too thorny. Finally, after much searching, she gave up and settled for lying in the sparse shade of the last bush she stopped by. As she tried to catch her breath, tongue hanging out of her mouth, she didn't even take into consideration if someone else could be in the area.
