Crossroads - Jester - Dec 02, 2014

Mist — -11° F/-24° C @Jynx

The temperatures had slowly been dropping and today seemed to be the coldest one yet. The mist that hovered in the air wasn't helping matters either. As he had walked the moisture had collected on his coat and in some places it was frozen. Yet the shadowed male was in a good mood. He was back to the forest that he had returned to and here he would likely stay. Jester had first found this forest and once he had left he had realized that he wanted to come back. Maybe he felt drawn here by the regal trees that stood like guardians around him.

Jester took a moment to pause in his walking and just to look around him. The snow was deep in this spot but it still covered his paws and though his dark form stood out in against the pale snow he was almost invisible against the damp frozen wood of the trees. Orange eyes scanned the shadows for a hint of fox in case his slightly annoying follower had decided to visit. Jester grinned though he found the fox annoying for the most part he also was rather found of the bold little canine.

Suddenly he sneezed, the cold having tickled his nose. Shaking his head to rid himself of the sensation he continued forward. He needed to learn every inch of this forest if he was to call it home. If he came across anyone maybe he would ask about the area some. If he wanted to stay though he would likely have to join the pack that was in the area or find someone to hunt with. He had nearly starved in the last one and he did not want a repeat performance. Snapping his teeth at the memory the large male gave in to his curiosity and through up his head to let out a short questioning howl. Now he would know if someone was in the area or not at least. That is if they answered him.

Sorry for the wait on this.

With a slow exhale, Jynx's breath rolled past her lips in thick, wispy tendrils. It was just that cold out. Cold and quite dreary, with a thick layer of mist that seemed quite persistent in gripping the CedarWood Forest for the past week. She just thanked the stars that she was well off, unlike some other wolves out there. She had joined the River wolves just in time. She was well fed, healthy, had a warm den to curl up in, and strong wolves supporting her. While winter certainly was not her most favorite time of the year, she could not deny that there was a certain beauty to the glistening, snow covered landscape. She enjoyed the eerie, peaceful sort of silence that it brought. Many times she would just walk, enjoying her surroundings while becoming lost in her own thoughts. Other times, much like a playful pup, she would dive head first into the fluffy powder, rolling and scooting delightedly.

Today just happened to be one of the days when the young russet female was out on one of her little strolls. She had spent plenty of time familiarizing herself with the land inside the pack borders. So now why not explore the rest of the forest? While it was free land for any who wandered by, she still felt a certain sense of protectiveness. Likely just a phase she was going through, having recently changed lifestyles. Snout buried in the snow, she had been distracted trying to pinpoint the presence of what might possibly be a mouse in hiding. She had not been expecting to hear the lone howl, and with a slight jolt, she pulled her muzzle free. Common sense told her that any wolf calling from this part of the forest, was most likely not a member of Cut Rock. They were far enough away from the borders not to be a real concern, so she would go see what they wanted. Replying with a short howl of her own, Jynx set off through the snow to greet the outsider. Squinting through the mist, her eyes soon locked onto the dark wolf. Offering a low woof, she announced her presence, stance neutral.

OOC: It's alright.

Tipping his head up Jester listened to the sound of someone answering his call. A smile spread across his face. So someone was here, he shouldn't have been surprised though seeing as there was a pack in the area. He hoped that who ever was coming could tell him about them. Maybe they were from the pack! His tail wagged behind him as he turned in the direction that he though the howl had come from. A woof made him aware of the approaching wolf. His orange eyes went to the source to see the red hued female that was watching him everything about her neutral.

My name is Jester and I was hoping you could tell me about the area. He told her a friendly smile on his face, tail swaying behind him. He didn't know what she knew or if she would think him rude for being so blunt about why he had called out. He would just wait about asking about the pack seeing as she might give out the information with information about the area as well. That is if she answered him at all. From were he was he couldn't smell her and wasn't aware that she was from the pack in the area at all. He just knew that she had come to his call and wasn't trying to challenge him or trying to dominate him either. This relaxed him seeing as he didn't want to worry about posturing when they were in a neutral area, but he would submit to an extant if she changed her mind about that.
