Cliff Diving... - Vlarindara - Mar 23, 2011

[dohtml]

OOC: Post prompt for Swimming :) Anyone can join! -Jasper Rocks edits for spelling ;D And..I have to say.. the last paragraph..is hella inspired by the Spirit Stallion of the Cimmaron bit in the movie where he jumps the canyon.. Slow motion and everything...Except..not as epic of a jump..;D

It wasn't warm by any means.. but the past few days had been warm enough that the ice covering the pool around the falls had cracked, broken and floated away. The falls themselves hadn't ever frozen over of course - to her knowledge at least. Vlarindara trotted up to the falls after having reinforced the boundaries for the pack, then moved away from the wolves intent on exploring the world around her. She couldn't stay cooped up forever..besides, if the falls were a constant source of water even in winter.. the following winters would see it a place to catch prey. The white female had found the riverbank and began moving upstream, for now staying out of the water, and relatively dry. She enjoyed swimming..not nearly as much as she liked running, but she knew swimming was a second best. The rushing of the falls caught her attention and she stopped, tail wagging languidly over her back as the...size of the falls brought amber eyes up and up in reverence. The power of nature truly was something to be revered.

Near the base of the falls the water swirled and billowed before running its course down the very river she had been following to get here. A gentle smile touched the lips of the female as she began climbing up the rocky outcroppings and slippery slopes of the small 'mountain' that made up the waterfalls. Of course, she couldn't just.. demurely step in and go for a swim..oh no.. She had every intention of combining her two favorite activities into one - but the question was.. how could running and swimming become the same thing? It was hard to run through water.. wasn't it? Vlarindara had a rather.. insane image in her head, but she didn't mind it at all.. It was something she'd never done before.. And who said life wasn't about taking risks? Finally, she reached the top of the falls and trotted down the stream a bit until she had found a relatively flattish bit of rock and dirt. Now.. Now she could have the thrill she hoped this would give her.. though it went against every instinct the older female had.. she'd heard once that it was fun.. So why not? Lining up towards the falls, Vlarindara paced a few moments to garner her courage before her paws began pounding into the dirt beneath her, powering her towards the rocks she had chosen.

The dirt gave way to slippery rocks, but she was going too fast to worry about the slippery surface.. the moss and spray. Her path had been planned out, committed.. and now she moved through it. Front paws hit the far edge of the last rocky outcropping, hind paws placed and braced in the same instant.. before powerful haunches stretched, bringing two legs into the air over the falls, then all four. For a glorious few moments, she was flying.. free as the birds, high as the falls themselves. The plumed tail waved behind her, whirling like a pinwheel, jaws open and tongue lolling out for those few precious seconds of being airborne... falling where the earth wished to take her. Her body began to fold and she knew that if she hit the water face first, it would knock the wind out of her, so she threw her hind legs forward and ended up crashing into the water beneath the falls flat on her back... A few moments under the swirling waves and the female surfaced, legs powering her over to the bank of the water..where she pulled herself from the eddies and panted a few moments before shaking herself and running back up towards the top of the falls.. She wasn't going to do it again was she?! ...Crazy Wolf.

but if it's not

real

you can't hold it in your hands,

face="tahoma">can't feel it with your heart.

It was an ordinary start of the sun rising, the world

continuing to turn, while time pressed on. Alone with her invisible thoughts

for company she followed the Heartleaf Creek. Pace was slow, and her

gray triangle points were relaxed. The sound was very soothing when she

needed a moment to herself. The creek was the easiest thing to follow as it

never moved, and did little to change. She could easily get from point a to

b by it. The season starting to become warmer there was no more cold, ice

grips along it's banks. It was pleasant view watching it trickle on it's way

like nobody's business.

She was pondering over changes, wondering when she might feel one

within her. She did not, not today. Cran lowered, and tail was bent low

beind her. She held onto the sigh that wanted to come. She was getting

eager to know if she'd be lucky enough to be a mother. She couldn't

exactly ask and find answer. She tried to assure herself, enough time

would give her the answer. She sauntered further, knowing Jasper Rocks

were up ahead. The falls carried a louder rush, and she figured it'd be

nice to sit by the pool. When she could see them from a distance, a large

patch of white immediately caught her attention. Head, and tail raised

stiffly and she took a couple hesitant steps forward. Suddenly the white

frame was flying across the ground, and sailed momentarily into the air like

a graceful balirina. Then whoosh-crashing into the pool. .

Mouth was agape,

and unmatched eyes wide. What the hell? Who was jumping into the water?

She was frozen temporarily to the ground, dumbstruck observing Vlar.

Vlar! Swimming, and rushing up again to jump of the minature

mountain. She shook her head, okay it really didn't look that high, or dangerous only

a little absurd to walk in on it. Jaysyek clamped her mouth shut, and

twitched her tail. Over her sudden surpise, she lingered near the edge

eyes holding the high spot where the white wolf would most likely jump

again.

Cliff Diving... - Vlarindara - Mar 27, 2011

OOC: Lawl! Mwahah

Vlarindara sailed once more off the rock face, pitching herself forward and landing on her back in the water before surfacing. Once she reached the air, water flew of her fur as she shook her head before noticing Jaysyek along the edge. Instead of being embarrassed about being caught doing such a rather obscene thing, she simply began swimming over to where her alpha was standing. Once she hit the bank, she moved a few yards down and shook herself to keep from spraying water all over Jaysyek and trotted over to her. "Good day, Jaysyek." She reached the dusted female and crouched, tail tucking beneath her legs as she passed a tongue over the other wolfs jaw and stepped back a bit to settle down on her haunches.

Her fur was sticking out in odd directions, but she didn't mind it before glancing back at the small 'lake' the falls made. Despite settling on her haunches, her breath was coming out in harsh pants from the earlier running and swimming. "You could try it...it's.. a bit interesting.. You feel as if you could fly." Amber eyes seemed to sparkle, her ears pointed forward and trained on the smaller wolf, but her posture was slightly.. attentive.. or as if she were sitting at Attention more or less, without seeming to be. At least the slightly care free look on her face offset the more attentive posture.

She'd seen it once but, watching Vlar for a second time soar and fall

crashing into the water it did look like fun. She would have preffered

deeper water. She'd been to young, scaerd to try it in her home pack.

Jasyek reclined to her haunches, she didn't want to sneek off. Maybe she

would go for a swim too. "Good morning," she

replied watching, and next holding still for Vlar's wet greeting. There was a

hint of a smile at whie cheeks, while intelligent eyes took in Vlar's wet

figure. The ambered eyed girl seemed in high spirits, like the time when

they'd left in search of Grizzly Hollow. Jaysyek didn't think Raigo had been

found, but to see the white wolf happy, enjoying herself was a pleasant

change. A light laugh erupted, and half smiled crept up the side of her

cheek. She shook her head, but kindly said,"I would

but I don't dare risk it right now. Maybe come summer time."
She was still smiling as she looked from the ledge to Vlar. It dimmed after a some passing seconds. She did want to try it, but she didn't feel she had the best of times not hurting herself. She may not know if she was pregnant, it couldn't hurt to play it safe. She would have all summer, when it was hot.

Her weight shifted slightly, and she stared back at Vlar like she was waiting to be addressed for something, Jayse had no need of anything. She'd actually before her to keep swimming. " I think I will swim though. I haven't in a long, long time. I miss it." A grin, she rose off the stone, and with cautious steps entered the water. It was cold, so she plunged into it up to her neck. It felt good, feeling the weightless with the water holding her. She smoothly glided near the falls, and round the edges. Muscles had missed the motion, and she herself missed home. This was home now, and she had a little bit of paradise.

A soft, barking laugh escaped her when the female commented about going swimming before getting to her feet and wagging a sodden tail over her back. "The water might be a bit on the cold side now maybe a bit shallow.. but I'm sure once warmer weather comes.. The ice upriver will melt and bring more water.. The sun warming it..I think... I might spend quite a bit of my time here...when it's warmer." Vlarindara smiled, taking a step backwards.. then a few more.. before rummaging up a stick and carrying it in her jaws before running at the water and jumping in. As her head passed underwater, the stick escaped her hold and floated to the surface, followed by the white head breaking for air and shaking. The stick was once more caught up in teeth and flung into the air, wolf swimming beneath to catch it.. or try. It bonked her on the head and flipped into the water again, drawing a laugh from the wolf as she dipped her nose in the water.. and flipped a few droplets at Jaysyek with a mischievous grin.

Head cocked listening, and she nodded roughly in agreement. "Yes, in summer it will be a sweet escape." Jaysyek smiled, continueing to paddle threw the pool. She didn't mind it was a little chilly, the sun shining made things even at the moment. She had needed to do this. She'd missed it, now she didn't have to. She felt so spoiled at the moment feeling like she surely had it all. Then again, like in winter they were wishing for spring, and here they were wanting it to be summer. She was fine if summer took it's time, if spring kept warming up any way. Watched Vlar's attempt to grab the stick, but mostly she was concentrating on her own movement. The water wasn't very deep, and she was a good swimmer. She only wasn't sure what lived in the water. The time she looked back the stick had fallen on Vlar's head. The white wolf wasn't hurt, she laughed in good fun, getting Jaysyek wet now. Grinning back, she lifted her tail and swipped it across the surface in Vlar's direction.

Another laugh escaped the white female and she got a face full of water before swimming over to where the other wolf was.. and then proceeded to try to hook her legs over her shoulders, back or haunches and push her under the surface.. Of course, she'd let her back up right away, but it didn't stop her from trying to have a bit of fun. Despite her attempt to dunk the other wolf, she was as gentle as possible - no need to drown the female... Or harm possible little ones. Besides, the water wasn't all that deep, and she knew Jayse could swim.. the powerful strokes she used while moving through the water was testament to the fact. Once she tried to dunk her, she started swimming off towards the opposite end of the pool, laughing softly despite her.. not so good swimming skills. She could swim, but she wasn't..exactly fast.

Laughed triumphantly at her throw, and made a couple strokes trying to get out of Vlar's reach. It was to late, and she was temporarily trapped. Underneath her weight she went deeper into the water, and with fluid motions pulled away. In a minute she resurfaced fully wet now, but still managing to smile. She'd learned a time ago to blow out of her nose when going underneath, so she didn't suck in unecessary water. She had no mind to try and dunk Vlarindara. Her attempts would be futile no doubt, and she wasn't ready for full blown water war. It was nice using all her muslces, rushing threw the water. She took off a little closer to Vlar, and made a jumped against the water, causing a huge splash her way. She grinned, and laughed in good fun swimming away.

Once her limbs started to numb it was time to get out. Eyes cast over her shoulder once to the falls, and she quickly made the climb out of the water. Roughly shaking her pelt from head to tail, waterpelts scattering all around. The afternoon sun was shining and she found a dry rock where it's light shined down. A short yawn stretched her lips, and she fell onto her stomach starting to lick the moisture out of her pale hair. "Find anything interesting on your patrol?"

Cliff Diving... - Vlarindara - Mar 29, 2011

The feeling of triumph of dunking the other female didn't last long.. the wave of water came at her and she squeaked before it hit then laughed, shaking her head before heading towards the shore as Jaysyek had done. The white female stepped out and then ran at the waterfall, scrambling up the side once more before finding her original launch point and ran...only to leap and fly off the rocks once more. Instead of flipping this time, she stuck her legs out and landed before surfacing. The water dropplets that had flown off her pelt when she jumped had rained down like the moisture from the clouds itself, and were done by the time that she came up. Now she struck out towards shore and shook herself before trotting over to the other female and plunking down next to the rock to begin cleaning her own fur.

The question brought an ear up before it fell back against her neck again. "Not much to be honest. I ran into Kauda and helped her mark the boundaries. We can hope that if any wolves happen to come up on us will have no excuse but to know exactly what they're walking into." Vlarindara chuckled, shifting and biting a few stones from between her toes.. a hazard of running off waterfalls, she guessed. "What about you? I've woken up a few mornings and both you and Borden are already out and about.. find anything interesting?"

Tongue wicked away the flecks of liquid that hadn't parted ways. She worked the length of her legs first, before she started flexing to the harder to reach. Cran cocked to the side, mouth caught in mid-stroke. She licked her lips, and her unmatched eyes wondered to Vlar. "We can hope," and a sigh a tanglement of stress followed. Eyelids blinked, and she rested her chin on her foreleg. Ears cocked up, she stated,"I hope Kauda was helpful to you." She was sure the yearling was doing her part, doing her best to be of help. Didn't sound like they had had any trouble. It was good to know she had met Vlarindara she figured they would get along. Kauda was young and had a rough past, seemed those things pulled on many a wolf's heartstrings.

Thoughts scattered else where and she continued licking at the long threads round her spine. "Me? I suppose nothing bad. I stumbled on an open field with some purple looking things, and lots of grass. Kinda nice open area to see the sky." A good hearted smile formed on her lips, and she stared at Vlar with a quiet consideration of things. "I hope you know I am sorry to hear about Raigo."
