storm clouds rising - Kjors - Apr 10, 2015 @Kova Weather: Thunderstorm, Overcast, 34F [dohtml]
Returning to the north proved to be uninteresting. Urotho busied herself with – well, whatever the badger woman had found to consume her time. Fine, he supposed, thought not quite how he imagined a reunion. Kjors needed no wolf, however, to amuse him. There were plenty of territories left unexplored, and if rumor served him properly, a vast bounty of packs he'd yet to come into contact with. There were a few, on his radar, but it was difficult to make a plan if he did not have a complete vision of his entire home. His intention was never to remain a permanent resident of the Ghastly Wood, only to take shelter in its shadow and mysticism until the proper province presented itself to him.
With this in mind, the lissome timber wolf struck forth, heading towards the northwest this time. The Ghastly Wood was bordered by a much more productive grove, and the chatter of birds had caught his attention previously. Now, there was the flash of color, buds of flowers hinting at the possibility of nectar and fruit to come in warmer months. He'd never been one for enjoying the sweetness (and truth be told, the most fruit he got were rosehips upon sandy beaches), but a meddling curiosity demanded he know. In time, he would have to pass back through here, when spring had given way to the heat and dry weather.
Kjors was almost upon the fields that bordered the orchard when a sudden crack startled the lone male. Tail flew up in an automatic reaction, ears pressed flat against his skull as he whirled around. A predator? A hunter? Thoughts raced as his nostrils flared, and a moment later, the smell of burning ozone filled his snout as another streak of lightning sizzled across the horizon. A second deafening boom assaulted him only a few seconds later – forgetting his pride for a moment, the male fled back into the depths of the cherry trees, abandoning any attraction he had to the open meadow that lay before him.
"Fuck," the dragon spat, scurrying to stuff himself underneath a rotten stop. "Bloody weather!" He'd not the time to get home before the storm was upon him – instead he'd have to withstand the squall from his makeshift den. "Bloody springtime, always with th' weather…" [/dohtml] RE: storm clouds rising - Kova - Apr 11, 2015 [dohtml]
OOC: Totally disregarding the liquid time here cause technically this thread happens the same time as Kova being in Stonewatch timbers with his mother.. LOL Lots of strange things were happening nowadays. His mother grew larger every day, and his father had left the pack on a short trip north barely a week ago. Kova had wanted to go with the old man, but Tokino had commanded him to stay and watch over Minka. So, despite being annoyed at the command, Kova had stayed. He was deeply regretting it now though. Especially since his mother had put a rule into action saying that if pack members left to venture out into the world; that they had to have another wolf with them. Tokino had gone out stubbornly on his own without his son. Kova could only hope that his father would be okay up north. Still... He himself was just as stubborn as Tokino. Kova had slipped off on his own to get away from his protective mother for a while. He didn't take anyone else from the pack with him. To be honest, Kova didn't really know anyone spare for Inali, Lugh who was oddly missing, and Bane. The boy didn't know the others enough to want to travel with them, not like the old sitters he had been used to being around. He missed Firefly greatly, and Beren, as well as Atlas. His old pup sitters had abandoned the pack or gotten lost during the winter. Kova wasn't sure what happened to them, but he wished they were still around. Firefly especially had been fun to wander with. She had given him freedom from rules and expectations even while watching him carefully from afar. However, the fiery she wolf was gone now, and Kova couldn't help but feel sad about that fact. The silver prince was visiting an area he and his old sitters had explored what seemed like a long time ago. As Kova traveled towards the trees he noted the darkening clouds of a thunderstorm that looked to be brewing in the southeast. He loved storms, and thunderstorms in particular made his heart giddy. Quickly the child let out a playful snarl at the air revealing all of his teeth in a wide devilish smile. The storm would hit soon, but Kova wasn't done looking around at the cherry trees yet. The orchard was gearing up for spring though the snow still covered the earth. The tree's were already budding, though only just barely. Many small flowers did brighten up the area despite the immense white and gray landscape around them. Kova wondered what the place looked like in the warm season. He had been told of how the trees bore fruit in summer, but had yet to see them. Maybe this summer I can visit? Kova thinks to himself while padding confidently through the low hanging tree branches. Many of the trees here were short; much shorter than the cedar or pines that he knew of. Some of their branches were low enough for him to scratch his back upon, and Kova did do just this before a loud "CRACK" sounded in the air above him. Kova grinned happily before he heard the cursing of another wolf nearby. Curious and amused at the sound of the older wolf's complaints, Kova cautiously approached the area where Kjor's was hiding. “You don't like storms?” Kova asked delightedly while his tail swayed high upon his back. His banner merely showed his excitement at the situation and nothing more; though another wolf may confuse it for dominance were it not for Kova's friendly demeanor. His tail flicked back and forth in an excited wag while his chin was held up. The child looked to the heavens where another flash of lightning lit up the sky. He gave the sky another challenging snarl before twisting around and bouncing over the earth playfully. Then his attention switched back to Kjors as the sky groans overhead. Thunder rumbled as Kova stops before Kjors once more showing that friendly wagging tail and giving him a giddy smile. RE: storm clouds rising - Kjors - Apr 11, 2015 [dohtml]
The sky screeched again and Kjors flattened his ears against his skull, cringing at the explosion of ozone and electricity. It was loud, almost painfully so, and the air stank of that burnt, angry char of electrified oxygen. Returning to his den now would be almost impossible. Sheets of rain veiled the wood and pummeled any other scents into the wet earth. Dirt and leaves turned into slick mud and a slippery path. It would serve him best to bid his time and wait for the sudden squall to move onwards – but patience had never been his strongest suit. However, his abhorrence for being damp far outweighed his desires to return to the sanctity of his den.
A voice startled him from his grumbling thoughts, ears flicked forward as he realized another wolf had joined him. The constant roar of the thunder had silenced the youth's approach, and the rain had dampened any scent, rendering this other animal completely invisible. His golden eye narrowed like a crescent moon and he bared his teeth, a silent warning as the young wolf stood like the dominant half. How brassy he was, standing with his tail flagged high over an older animal as the sky ripped open above them.
Still, he was quite unwilling to wriggle free from his makeshift shelter, and only tipped his ears forward. "Naw. Suppose Ah don'," he grumbled, tipping his head to one side as he studied the silvery male, hackles settling back down as he realized the other canine was wagging his tail. Brassy, maybe, but also naïve – was he even aware he was posturing? "Rather not be wet, if Ah can avoid it. 'sides, can't do 'nything in th' rain. Can't hunt. Can't explore."
Raising a single brow, he regarded the energetic youth with curiosity. After a moment, he spoke back up. "Wha's yer name, laddy? What're y' doin' out here in this awful weather, huh? Y'mus' have a nice warm den somewhere, aye? No need t' be ou' in th' storm." [/dohtml] |
