And you can't stop me - Danica - May 24, 2015

@Gent Back dated to the 23 since I was too busy to post. I tried my best to meet the word minimum, but I'm honestly feeling like crap so yeah sorry. :(

1 Day Left

Swollen, sore, and feeling as if she had ate a bucket load for breakfast, in which she hardly had eaten, Danica moved across the blackberry fields. Perhaps it was unwise to head out this close to birthing, but she was determined to visit her favorite place in the world one last time before her children arrived. One final moment of peace before a great responsibility was laid upon her. Dani's hips had become 'fuller' as her belly bulged on either side of her. Every step the young mother to be took was heavy and weighed down by the extra pounds she'd accumulated. Whether from the pup himself, or the increased appetite.

Her gut told her this was a bad idea, her instincts pushing her to go to her quiet safe den in the Glade. Yet she foolishly trudged on, pushing through the bushes that tugged at blonde fur. Her bright green eyes seemed to say that she wasn't going to back down for nothing at all. And no, no one could stop her if they wished to not harm the whelps within.

The sky was painted in bold shades of oranges, yellows, and pinks with a couple of clouds highlighted by the Sun. The late evening wind rustling through the field. It cooled what had been to some a hot day down into a comfortable temperature.

RE: And you can't stop me - Gent - May 27, 2015

[dohtml]

It would have been quicker for Gent to make his way to Secret Woodlands' territory in a straight, diagonal line. However, given the feeling of urgency to return to Minka and her brood that sat restless inside of him, he wanted to ensure that as few hiccups happened as possible. Therefor, he ignored the unfamiliar forest that overtook the land north of the thickets and chose to maneuver like a knight upon a chess board, in a backwards L shape. This chosen path brought him back down to the blackberry fields, land that he knew like the back of his hand but did not feel an inch like home. Where others in his pack might return and have feelings of nostalgia stir up within their heads, Gent was susceptible for none of this. Stonewatch Timbers was too perfect for him to miss the sticky brambles of the blackberry bushes.

He knew now how to move through even the tightest of spaces within the field so as to avoid the gnarled thorns from grabbing at his sleek fur and depositing their small droplets of sap upon his coat. Still, he would be relieved once free of them all together, and of course a well of excitement resided in his stomach at the thought of seeing Danica again. More dominant however was a feeling of anxiousness, both over Danica and her pack. How receptive would they be of their former-enemy-called-truce knocking at their door? Would they even allow him to see her? Had she had the cubs or no? Was she being safe with them, were others helping and taking care of her? Had Titan been around for her? He tried to quell the thoughts within his head, knowing that he would have his answers soon, but still they pressed against the inside of his skull, desperate to be heard.

The noise stopped abruptly in his head when her scent crossed before his snout in the spring wind.

"Danica?" he called out, now knowing that she was nearby. What was she doing out this far? It was less than a day's travel from her home, but still it concerned him, whether she was still with child or not. She needed to be with her children under the safe guardianship of her pack. Gent took a deep breath, searching for signs of a guardian being with her, but none came. He couldn't even catch a faint whiff of Titan's scent, which he had expected to be mixed with her's.

Pressing forward, determined to find her fast, his blue eyes searched restlessly while heavy paws ate up the ground.

"Danica, what are you doing out here?"

"Danica?" The familiar voice carried with the breeze, her movements slowing to a stop as she straighted herself. She couldn't quite match the voice with a name, putting her on edge. Quietly the woman looked around herself with cream perked ears standing like small towers on her crown. Eyes were sharpened dangerously as teeth flashed in pure waring, "Who's out there?" Her voice seemed to dare the unknown with it's taunting tone. Her hackles rose to the point and she lifted her head challengingly, throwing about her weight momentarily to appear more threatening. A low growl bubbled forth.

"Show your-" Dani stopped to silenced herself, the steady sound of paws approaching. A potential snarl lodged itself within her throat as @Gent appeared, her features softening at the sight of her friend.  She lowered herself to a mutual stance, soft pelt smoothing, and the puffing of her chest 'deflating'. At his words she showed no concern and simply swept to his side for a gentle, friendly, warm embrace. Her poofy tail swayed slowly behind the pregnant mother as she pulled back to answer his question, {b}"I'm heading out to go see Heartleaf creek one last time before my children arrive, but the question here is, why are you around? Your pack's scent is stale..." [/b]She looked about to see where they were before continuing,>"In fact aren't we near the heart of your home? Please tell me you're not alone?" She asked concern filling her bright orbs as she moved closer to smell his fur. While doing so she offered a soft nudge then once more pulled back. Confusion showed itself plainly across her face,
"I don't understand." She stated simply and awaited the man's explanation.

Danica, eyebrows furred, took a tentative seat to rest herself. It didn't take much of anything anymore to tire her out with the added pounds. The whelps inside of her swollen belly seemed to drag her down as she met the ground.

She was understandably tense, given her state and associated vulnerability, out here in what was now no-man's land. Still, he didn't expect her not to recognize his voice, nor to turn so aggressively on him. Thankfully, her entire demeanor melted into warmth and welcoming, and Gent dismissed the uncharacteristic behavior as being due to her pregnancy. He imagined if he'd had one of Minka's children out here, so far from home, how quickly he boil up to meet any potential threat with fangs bared.

When she rushed up to him, he set his chin upon her back momentarily to complete the embrace. He'd certainly worried about her given all that had happened, even if the concern had been forced farther back into his mind than he'd like with all the tumultuous things that had happened to the Crest wolves as of late. He was a little disappointed to see that the children had yet to enter the world; he'd hoped to be able to meet each of them. She mentioned Heartleaf Creek, and he recalled the pace easily, as he'd passed through it multiple times for a quick drink while scouting for prey under the authority of the Keep. Still, he felt that Danica was pushing her luck to want to travel a distance like that when she was so far along in her pregnancy, especially with no one to escort her. In fact, Gent had to take a deep breath one last time to ensure that no one else was around, incredulous that she would undergo this mission on her own.

Her explanation quickly melted into concern as a flood of questions left her lithe maw, and he realized she wouldn't know anything of Round Stone Crest's latest undertakings. Couldn't know, in fact. While their packs had made peace, and while he utterly trusted Danica, it would be stupid to reveal his pack's location and activities when Minka had moved them for the very reason of keeping these things secret, and Gent wasn't about to betray that.

"We've moved, because of the... miscommunication." He couldn't call it a war, because their truly hadn't been a single altercation, and Lugh's attack had not, as they'd initially perceived, been a first strike of any kind. "I can't tell you where, so please don't ask. But I've gotten permission to come visit you when I want to, and that's what I've come to do. I thought maybe you would've popped by now." A smile accompanied the small joke, before his features grew serious.

"You shouldn't have come on your own, Danica. Why didn't you ask someone to join you?" he paused for a moment then, before daring to ask, "Where is Titan?"

"I understand, and I have no reason nor need to ask." The pale wolf spoke attempting to keep things light and cheery, smiling reassuringly at him, "However, I wouldn't mind catching up with you specifically, how have you been sir Gent?" She asked teasingly before responding with a giggle, "Nope...no popping going on here." Her eyes lit up at a thought and her mouth opened to let out a stream of happily rushed words, "Do you wanna feel them? It's so cool! They're really active here of lately, dunno why. I guess that's what happens before they arrive?" She sort of asked him and at the same time no one. It was a question that could be ignored and left hanging in the air, either way she wouldn't mind.

The change in subject left her frowning, "I don't know...didn't really cross my mind. Anyways I'm not close to my pack...not by a long shot. I mean I love my mother and all, but I don't feel at home within Secret Woodlands. I hardly know anyone..." She let the truth spew easily from her dark lips. "Titan?" She paused. Dani's face was swept of any joy or pleasantry she may have had displayed before. It never occurred to her that Titan hadn't came to see her in quite some time. She thought back to the last time she saw him, mind wondering over the important in between moments, then drooped her head. "I have no flipping clue Gent...I haven't seen his face or smelt him since I told him I was with child." Her heart shattered at the thought of him abandoning her and she slipped down into a laying position. "You don't think he would ever truly leave me, do you? His dad and my dad both failed us...wouldn't that encourage him to do better?" She looked up with big sappy green eyes.

"...unless, he's following the examples set for him..."

RE: And you can't stop me - Gent - Jun 09, 2015

She had chattered for a bit, and he happily listened to her. It was good to see her in such high spirits after their time apart, and he was happy to see that the almost-war had not touched her in any way. She spoke of the children, how they pushed against her stomach, and while a part of him was fascinated and wished to take her up on the offer, the majority of him was, quite frankly, a bit spooked by the idea. Gent stared back blankly at her, eyeing the bulge of her sides as though he might witness a tiny paw pressing against the inside of skin and stretching it into a recognizable shape.

His hesitation, thankfully, did not seem to be noticed by the young girl as she moved on to his more solemn questions. Her admittal to not even having thought of taking up a guard quite concerned him, as it once more gave him a view of the portion of naivety that she had maintained from childhood. While it was, at times, an endearing trait it caused him to worry about both her and the children she was carrying. Gent had no doubt she would be a good and dutiful mother, but still he feared the evils in the world that might seek to harm her and the freshly created souls. Even further, she informed him that she had no real ties within the Woodlands, and he had to bite back the impulse to bring her home with him. To imagine her, in such a state, amongst the equivalent of strangers chilled him. Truly, Gent's plate was threatening to overflow as he heaped onto it an unspoken promise to visit the girl more often to ensure that her pack kept her safe.

The final piece of information she laid out for him not only furthered his concern, but caused pinpricks of anger to open in his chest. She was looking at him then with pleading eyes, as though he had all the answers for her. Much to his dismay, he didn't have any. All he knew of Titan was the one occasion, and while he had held a favored opinion of the youth for the simple fact that he had some sort of tie with him stretching from that last year, that regard was swiftly diminishing. Initially, he had not been happy to see that Danica was with child. While she was now of adult age, Gent still did not view her as such, and certainly thought it much too soon for her to have transitioned into that stage of her life. Now with this news that Titan had been completely absent through it all, Gent's displeasure increased tenfold.

The worst of it was, nothing could be done. What was he supposed to say to her? The last thing he wanted to do was lie. He hadn't gotten the chance to know Titan then, and certainly did not know now what sort of young man he had grown into. For all the Lieris heir knew, he could have very well turned tail and run from Danica for the simple fact that he was not yet ready for fatherhood. At a loss for words, Gent was forced to resort to actions. He stepped forward and nosed at her neck and shoulder, simultaneously nuzzling her to comfort her and attempt to get her to stand again. Finally, he found use of his tongue, and offered, "I'll be your guardian, if you want to visit the creek so badly. I'll get you there, then I'll get you right back so you can be tucked in safe in your den when the pups are ready to come out."

A long bitter silence cloaked them with it's heavy weight bearing down on the girl. A prominent frown on her features as big, dark, round emerald orbs stared towards @Gent. They sparkled with the little hope she had left in her dear @Titan, the man who held her heart for now. The thought of being with anyone else baffled her and the longing of his touch scorched her heart. Nothing was said though, and her relative through bond and not blood stood almost dumbfounded like. *He doesn't know how to help you Danica...* She thought quietly in her mind as it seemed that little spark diminished into a flicker. How was she supposed to do this on her own?

She was caught off guard by his touch, and relaxed soon after returning it. With a weak smile she rose back up simply to but her head into his shoulder affectionately. "Really?" A sudden joy seemed to cause the brief moment of pain to wash away, "Promise?" She asked eagerly looking at him, "You don't understand how much I'd love to spend the time with you and to be able to come and go safely. Oh thank you Gent!" Her tail wagged back and forth as a lopsided grin replaced her frown. Reality was though, she was crying on the inside as if she was being torn apart. Titan wouldn't be there at the creek like when they first met so long ago. It was strange to think that instead of going there as a pup, she'd be with child. No longer little, helpless, and lost, but instead plump, helpless, and guided. Danica was a woman now and Titan a man...

RE: And you can't stop me - Gent - Jul 14, 2015

Relief washed over him as the despair disappeared from her eyes and excitement took over. While he knew he couldn't chase away the inevitable for her, he hoped against hope that he could buy time until Titan miraculously reappeared into the life of the family he had kindled. It was what he hoped for, that the bridge could be rebuilt, that the Thorben boy wasn't decomposing in some forgotten clearing, lost forever to the Lore or perhaps even worst, was somewhere thriving, his heart hardened forever against the girl he'd loved throughout his childhood.

"Of course I promise," he responded with a smile as he trotted past her, ready to take up the lead. He knew his way to the creek, and played the expected trip over in his mind. Given her swollen state, they may just have to stay the night before he could bring her back. While Gent wanted to hurry this time away from the security of her pack, he didn't want to push her too far. Perhaps it wasn't the smartest of choices to take her at all, but it had put the light back into her eyes and he wouldn't take this from her now.

"So, tell me more about how things are at home."
