blue flowers in the meadow - Daniel - Jun 30, 2015 [dohtml]
regular text - thought text - talking textToddling from the den was an easy feat this morning. His mother was heavy in slumber from the dark child keeping her up all night. He wished to see the giant circle in the moon. He dreamt it to be the eye of the Sky Wolf who was always growling and crying (what he calls Thunder). A pale silvery eye that watched over the land as the dark Thorben and mother slept tight in the den. So far visits had been scarce. Only Hudson and that one dark wolf, Titan, had visited him. He wished to see more. Know who all else lived in the lands with us. He had been told of a "Grandma Nina" that ruled the lands as queen. While this was exciting it caused the little Daniel some confusion. Shouldn't his mother had been the queen? She was the only strong female figure in his life that his young mind had come to know so far. Of course it might have explained some things that this Grandma Nina was queen. If his mother was always tending to his needs then she couldn't be queen, could she? Running along into the deeper of the thickets his leg began to grow tired. Luckily he had made it close enough to see the pack dens. He didn't think he had made it this far before. Peeking around his high pitched voice yipped out. "Gramnina!" Well that didn't go as plan. The two words collided to make some sort of mess that certainly wasn't Grandma Nina. Making his way into the entrance his rump slammed into the ground. "Why can't I talk like Huton or Ma?" 276 words
And papa wasn't there RE: blue flowers in the meadow - Lyanna - Jun 30, 2015 [dohtml] I narrated a teeny bit of history here ─ if there are any objections I will make changes <3
Lyanna's lessons with her nana had been going well, and occupying all of her time. It wasn't so hard for her to wrap her little brain around ─ history and other things were important ─ but some things just didn't make sense to her. Like war. Or loss. Or blizzards. All the tiny Tainn knew was summer and all the simple pleasures that accompanied the season. She was never cold and there was always plenty to eat whenever Nina was around (at least every day). Not only that, but she, for the most part, got to play whenever and wherever she wanted. And speaking of play, she'd been wondering where her dark-furred agemate was. Lyanna had inquired of Daniel earlier, but was informed only that she would see him later on in the day at the big, important meeting. The princess had shrugged the answer off with an impatient sigh and continued to pretend to focus on Nina's story about some creek her father had once lived near. It wasn't until the afternoon sun shone down right overhead that the girl was gifted a pleasant surprise. She'd been tuttling about the pack den for a time (when she was finally allowed to to anything beside listen), tinkering with a patch of wildflowers when the sound of little paws and a rustling through the grasses caught her attention. She perked up, inclining her snout to sniff the air and waving her tail about in a pseudo-regal sort of way when she heard his voice spout out "Gramnina!": Danny! Sure, in her short life she hadn't spent too much time with the boy; his home wasn't really near her and Daddy's, plus Nana didn't always have Danny like she did Lyanna, and she didn't feed him either, which was weird since that's where Lyanna suckled. Daddy had said that Daniel had a different mommy and that's why the two cubs didn't always see each other and that was...confusing, because Lyanna didn't have a mommy, just her Nana...Regardless of all this, the girl was sooo very excited that there was finally someone here to play. The pale and fluffy-furred child scurried around to the den mouth, sliding to a halt just in time to slam right into Daniel, who was seated before Nina. "Danny!" she squealed with delight, having little to no bashfulness whatsoever to hold her back. "─Did ya come over 'ere to play? Did'ya?" Lyanna circled the boy with enthusiasm. Re: - Spirit of Wildwood - Jun 30, 2015 Shallow water has trapped several fish in a small pond. Hunt Opportunity RE: blue flowers in the meadow - Nina - Jul 03, 2015 [dohtml] Lyanna truly was a spitting image of her mother and quite beautiful. As she got older, Nina would be sure to keep an eye on the young girl, just as Mirren would. Throughout the weeks, the Hervok woman found that she did not mind doing what she needed to do with Lyanna. Without a litter of her own the past year Nina almost felt empty, as if something were missing. The Tainn was a good child and paid attention to the surrogate mother, even if she did not always listen. Even when she had told exciting stories to her own children, they had gotten bored easily…except for Tacoma…but he was long gone and she could no longer tell stories to her little prince. However, Mirren’s daughter was quite smart. Her pronunciation was improving and she was quick to pick up on the little things. Though she was sure the child would not listen, the golden brown female told the story of Mirren’s first home, Copper Rock Creek. It was a time that Nina did not always like to recall but it was needed, to fill in the history as in how Secret Woodlands began. After her lengthy tale, the grandmother allowed the children to have her free time, watching as she went to go frolic around in the flowers. As she passed by each one, it was as if a new light was being drawn to the dark thickets and it warmed Nina’s heart to know that Secret Woodlands had new hope. It was what they desperately needed and the birth of the Tainn was no exception, even if Kite was no longer there to share it with them. The loss of Mirren’s lover had broken him and her heart ached for her son, knowing full well what it was like to be in his position. Trying to be the best support she could, Nina did her best to help out with his daughter as much as possible. They were family, the only odd thing being that Kite was not there to share this happiness with them. Over time, Mirren would be alright, but it would take a while for him to recover from this betrayal or at least, move on from it. He was a strong man and would become stronger, Nina just knew it. Her thoughts of Mirren disappeared when another familiar voice rang through the clearing. A small smile was brought to her face at the thought, a reminder that Daniel had probably snuck away from Danica again. Not once had Nina seen her daughter with Daniel and it slightly concerned the grandmother to know that Danica did not keep a close eye on her son. Nina was supreme ruler in the lands and she fully accepted Daniel and expected everyone else to do the same. Hopefully, there would be no problems. Lyanna was quick to respond to the other boy’s arrival, making it obvious that she was pleased that he was with them. The Tainn needed more play time and it seemed that the two pups were getting along perfectly well. It was good to know that there would be no miscommunication about whether they were related or not. Mirren and Nina had cleared that up right away, knowing that lies were no way for the family to start anew. With a pleased smile on her lips, Nina spoke gently to them, "It is good to see you again, Daniel. It’s always a pleasure." If Nina did not only have one eye, she would have winked at the young lad, but Nina had to simply cock her head amusingly and chuckle at the boy, as he would no doubt be distracted by his playmate. |
