you do not know who is your friend or who is your enemy until the ICE breaks. What was she doing? Clearly not killing it... Frustration caught his tail to stiffen and he gave the deer a sharp tug, bringing it down again from its half-risen flail. And then she let go? Telling him to do it? A low growl rumbled in his chest as he was not eager to let go of the deer; it was still struggling, albeit a tad weaker than previously. Gracelessly, more crawling across it than anything else, Ice switched side from its back to front. With practiced ease his jaws closed around the animal's throat, crushing the windpipe with pure strength. Mercilessly he held on as the doe bucked on the ground, until life fled from her eyes and the only throes were induced from death. Finally she stilled, her cornea drying up already - her gaze was glazed over with death, sightlessly staring at the pretty sky. Blood stained Ice's mouth when he released the deer's throat, and with something like a sigh he looked up at her. Ice might be strong, but he couldn't snap the neck of a doe. When hunting medium-sized prey in pairs, he found it easiest to trip the animal up and crush its windpipe, suffocating it - if you were lucky, the arteries were cut too, but there was no guarantee for that. Even larger prey... He was of the opinion that you had to have a pack to hunt those, and he hadn't had a pack for that long, but it seemed to consist mostly of tiring it out until it either suffocated, bled to death, or someone managed to score a lucky hit. "Throat," he said, something unreadable in his eyes. "You'll have no luck snapping the neck of a deer." Then he shrugged. She'd not done much wrong, really. Her herding instincts were fine, and she'd understood what she needed to do, with her lither body and speed. Perhaps the ones she had hunted with previously had landed the killing blows, or she seldom hunted larger prey. "You did well," he commented while moving in in front of the downed doe's belly. They would take what they could back to the pack, but he wasn't going to waste a good meal by trying to drag the whole thing down there. With a wolf's quiet efficiency he ripped his way into the doe's belly, gore staining his muzzle. ( How do you want to continue this? Or wrap it up with them feeding? :3 ) .ice aesir |

All of the wolves she had hunted with in the past had gone for the exact same spot as she had, only their jaws were much wider and bigger than hers and it was hard for her to grasp exactly where they had made the death blow. Her head shook in anger and a small irritated growl erupted from her muzzle as Ice finished off the young deer. Her head dipped in apology briefly before bringing it back up to look in his eyes. She was curious as to what his first comment meant, and after she thought about it she started to understand better. She had gone for the neck and spine, not the windpipe. Her tail wagged slightly behind her as she took in the concepts of what her pack mate was saying and his praise gained him some respect from within her. She was alright, but she wasn’t good. None the less, she didn’t bother correcting him, he knew what he was doing.
“Thanks. You too. It was good to hunt something more than rabbit for a day,” she replied in a soft voice as she too made her way towards their catch. It would be a while until they would be able to haul the large doe all the way home. But Swift River would eat well tonight. . .and that was all that mattered to her at the moment. But it seemed Ice was going to eat some before, and she took that as an invitation to do the same. Her tail curled slightly as she made her way over and watched in wonder as the white male ripped open the dead body. She waited patiently for him to take his pick of food before her. It would only be the respectable thing to do. But she did want to know one thing. “Ice, I was thinking about trying to become a Huntress in the pack, but I have never been in one before. Do you know how I could possibly gain the role?” Her emerald eyes then stared at him, perhaps he held some of the answers.

you do not know who is your friend or who is your enemy until the ICE breaks. A small grin curled his dark lips around his bloody teeth, something about the crimson staining his muzzle making the innocent gesture seem dark-edged. Rabbits... Oh god, how he loathed the little critters! Fast and always veering this way or that! Guh, no; he shuddered but made no move to reply, simply sniffed his way into the carcass. He was hungry, and they had to have something for the effort, right? Plus, Indru wasn't here to steal the choicest bits. Jaws closed around the doe's liver, severing it from its position in the body and hauling it out where he could chew it up properly without choking on it. Huntress, hm? He bit off a piece of the liver, thinking about it as it slid down his throat. It would be good for the children if they had an appointed huntress - not only the new pups, but the yearlings, too. They would surely benefit from someone who made it her area of expertise, and she wasn't bad. Her instincts were sound, and that was what mattered. Indru had obviously approved of her when she came to the borders, and her sister Cali was determined to prove herself. Hopefully it ran in the family. "Practice," was the first thing he said, before tearing off another piece of the warm liver. It wasn't every day that he was the highest ranking wolf at a large kill and got to enjoy this! So he was determined to make the best of it, and savor every piece... "I've been thinking about calling a hunt together, for the benefit of the yearlings, but..." He turned his eyes to her, watching her intently. "You could call the hunt, show that you're willing to pull your weight when it comes to the food caches. If you want it officially approved, ask Indru or Corinna." Ice had been diligently patrolling the borders long before being a Guardian in name, but sometimes having a goal made you work harder. Perhaps Jessie was one of those? Thoughtfully Ice closed his mouth around the last piece of liver, and with a stifled whine swallowed it. So good, and now it was all gone! ( Up to you how long you want them to chat about hunting and so, I'm game for more talk. ^^ And once they feel done talking about it, fade it to black with them dragging the deer back? ) .ice aesir |

In all truth, she liked the legs. . .they were one of the best parts to her. Tail wagging behind her, she frolicked over to one of the back legs and tore off a small section of meat. She wasn’t a large wolf and didn’t need much meat to sustain her for a short time. Jessie was one to take just what she needed and not anything more or less. She would leave the rest for another day. . .or perhaps now her pack mates. Her ears twitched when her question was answered by the white male. After his words were spoken they replayed themselves within Jess’s head many times. She loved practicing. . .it only helped her improve. She was sure that another member wouldn’t mind helping her out to get larger deer, and she could easily catch rabbits.
Her tail wagged behind her in a lazy manner as se continued to eat her small piece of meat. “Thank you Ice. I will be sure to do so in the near future.” And with those words, she continued on with her meal. She was a slow eater but it would only take her a short time to groom herself and to get all of the blood off of her muzzle and chest. Her tail curled in delight when she finished her small portion of meat, before licking herself clean. Her head then raised to meet a pair of icy blue eyes, “You ready to take this thing back home?”
