Don't worry, Smeh, nobody will be dying :3 I'll do my best to hold Marsh back as long as I can, for what it's worth... xD

Also, Mist and Marsh actually have the same speed-value, so he'll probably be able to keep up with her fairly well - especially if you let her paw be damaged.

<blockquote>The female dodged, and instead Marsh clamped down on her paw. It was about this time that Ice arrived, and despite the confusion between them in more peaceable times, Marsh was nothing but glad for him being here. At the very least, it helped to soothe a small part of him which had been worried about Ice's loyalties; hearing his crazed growls and seeing him lunge at the larger trespasser was purely therapeutic.

The male shouted something, and Marsh was too far gone to even pretend to pay attention, for everything was being said more than loudly enough; they were here and they were not running nearly fast enough. Were they stupid, or were they conniving? Either way, it was over. With a throaty rumble, he crunched down hard on his foe's paw, wanting to break as many bones as possible, and got ready to thrash his head from side to side to further ruin her leg - but she lashed out and tried to force him away by pressing on his eyes, her dull nails causing no harm but her message clear. Well, why not? It would be fun to watch her flee with a mangled foot. Compliantly he released her paw, and she responded predictably - turning to run.

With a bark of solidarity meant for Ice, Marsh charged after her, content to believe that his white ally would soon see his half fleeing. Hungrily he kept pace with the shameless trespasser, snapping out whenever he could at her hocks, hips or tail, keeping the pressure up and making sure that she never got the bright idea of slowing down.</blockquote>

.. though Ice could need someone to pry him off poor Kegan. :c But, on the bright side, both of you are faster than Ice!

It was for every pain he had every felt; it was for Marsh and Corinna, for Indru and his unborn children, for the pack, for them, and in a left-handed way, for her, his nameless Poisoned acquaintance. He did it because his body demanded it, because there wasn't anything else to do - thoughts were painful, and not the sort of company he craved today. These wolves, even if they had been from any other pack, lacked the common sense and respect needed when dealing with foreign packs. They had to be taught. It happened to be such that it was a claw and fang day of teaching, so when Ice's teeth found flesh and bone to latch onto, he decided to not let go. Snarling, lips pulled back to reveal his row of worn teeth, Ice bit down harder on the bone, trying to get as good a grip as possible to stay on when Kegan began thrashing. No. Way.

Kegan's words didn't make it through. Ice wasn't listening. He wasn't comprehending. The part of him which understood these things had retreated deep underground and burrowed somewhere where it couldn't be touched; not even Mist disappearing with Marsh hot on her heels fazed him or disturbed him. They were running off. So what? He and his prey wasn't. With a bloodied snarl Ice tried to fling his chest onto Kegan's back, teeth still locked on his shoulder; he was taller, thicker, heavier, stronger. He wanted to push the smaller male into the ground, collapse them both into a cumulus of snapping teeth and claws and broken bones. Likely someone had to wrench his jaws off Kegan's shoulder blade and drag him off by the tail, but he didn't - couldn't - care. He just knew the warmth of anger and of the body that tried to buck him off, but doggedly he clung on, trying to force the other wolf down, down on the ground, where he belonged with the rest of the vermin.

Kegan Richie
Kegan was struggling when the rabid beast had tried to force him down, Kegan felt annoyance and iration, maybe because Mist had just abandoned him and ran off, some pack mate she was. He was shivering, Kegan could certainly not keep this up for any longer. He could feel that this wolf was in pain and vengeance, but Kegan was annoyed that the wolf took out his anger on him.<b>"Why?! Just why!? Why have you and another wolf took out you're anger on us!? What the in hell have we done!?"</b> Kegan had yelled as loud as he could, trying his hardest to get an answer.

<i>Dammit!</i> Kegan thought to himself, wanting to scream out. He suddenly fell to the ground, he tried his hardest but the wolf was way too large, though Kegan would never give up.

Sorry for forgetting this! Am going to PP Mist somewhat to get her out of the thread.

<blockquote>His prey limped heavily as he chased her off, but save for a few small gashes left on her hindquarters when she was not able to out-run him, Marsh did not stop her from fleeing. It was all the better she return tattered to show that Swift River was not a pack to be insulted or underestimated. Once she was clear of the borders, Marsh stood and howled after her, his sharp voice a clear message - and though her allies in the mountains here, well, all the better.

Snarling and twitching in anger, the copper wolf about-turned and began to lope back the way he came, just in case Ice was not faring as well. He had been left the larger of the two, but it had seemed a fair trade. Not happy at the thought of a harmed Ice, Marsh sped up, barking once when he was nearby to let them both know that he was not leaving Ice to deal with it alone.</blockquote>

The taste of wolf between his teeth was sweet, far sweeter than anything else he had ever felt; in the haze of hate and rage and pain he did not think straight but clung on, savage, refusing to let go of his prize. He thrashed and screamed but the words went straight over Ice's head. He didn't want to hear. Didn't want to comprehend. They were here and that was enough, though, one of them was over there, running for her life with copper Marsh on his heels.

You are beautiful.

Then they were gone and Ice was alone with his prey, clinging, hanging on for dear life as the male kept trashing. He tasted vile, foul, of treachery and lies. Ice hated it. Hated him. The growl was building in his throat, erupting in snarls as he ripped, trying to work a piece of flesh loose; before he could, the Poisoned male crashed onto his side. Surprise and force pried Ice's jaws open, fur and flesh sliding out between his teeth. Cheated, a vicious roar sprung from his muzzle and he snapped his head down again, aiming to grab anything, fur, spine, tail; Marsh's bark was barely registered, for the red fog of violence blanked him out. Only rage existed. Only the desire to drink their poisoned blood and tear them from their lofty throne, toss them on the ground; Ice's mind was gone, but his teeth were there, snapping, hot breaths rushing out between them in ferocious snarls.

( sort of giving Kegan the opportunity to scramble out from under Ice and start running. c: )

Kegan Richie
No more, no more. Kegan was tired of sick, he dreaded this fighting. Why would such wolves do such a thing? That's one thing the boy didn't know. Kegan had to run. What such mindless, rabid, evil creatures were here? The boy already noticed the tame less rage that was in the silver pelted male, in fact, Kegan himself was sacred, and made the lad's blood run cold of such anger.

Kegan quickly scrambled out from under that mental male. If Mist could get away from these wolves with a limped paw, Kegan could. Though Kegan forgot that blood was tearing from him, and a large gash had been ripped on his shoulder. He ran a s fast as the boy could run. the pain was so sore.

<blockquote>It looked as though Ice was in no great need of any help; though of a size, the two wolves had clearly decided who was the stronger. Marsh could not see Ice's face, though he could taste the white wolf's craze well enough.

He had barely reached them when the trespasser broke free and bolted, much like his companion, which was nothing but sensible. At least they were both able to realise such wisdom, even so late. The adrenaline still pumped through his system, more than enough to give hearty chase for a second time, and the snarls ripped through him as he made sure that the hulking fool did not think to stop and smell the flowers again.</blockquote>

Feel free to exit or archive, Fen, this took me too long to finish! D:

Cheated of his prey. Fangs found nothing but air, snapping shut on it and feeling the lingering warmth of the body which thrashed beneath him - coming free, bolting, and the predator in him answered instantly. Somehow Marsh was there, again, running nearby, but not close enough to trip either of them. Their prey, the metallic scent of his blood a red trail in his mind, was lither than either of them. Like a rabbit fleeing, the distance increased; Ice's long legs vibrated with the force of his motion, paws thrumming against the ground, but it was not enough. Even Marsh, snarling ferociously, drew ahead of him. And in him, the beast grew both restless and disappointed. His muscles burned, the air rushing in and out of his mouth rapidly, thrust out again in growls and snarls.

The intruder was long gone - past the border, out into safety, together with the foolish female. Ice's long strides grew shorter until they stopped altogether, sides heaving and tongue lolling out. Dim eyes, embers still smoldering in them, sought Marsh's copper form, before he keened. Something was wrong. Inside. In his head and in his heart.

His duty done for now, Ice melted back into the forest, lurking, prowling, waiting for another unwary idiot to present its flesh to his bloodied teeth.
