When he knew his sister was satisfied with herself and they settled down, he too crouched down and plopped down straight onto the dirt to rest his sore paws. His golden amber eyes glowed dimly in the dark and when he was sure Tempest was asleep his eyes would fully open, taking in the clearing. He wouldn’t let anything get in his way to protect his sister. The soft ‘who’ of an owl echoed in the forest and his head lifted towards the sound, his ears pricked, and eyes glowing dangerously. If anything were to come by them he would be there in a moment to finish the job. His body was close to Tem’s, making sure not to brush against her fur too much, he thought their plans over in his head. Their goal was to find their brother. . .but what were they to do after that? Would they just leave? There would be no point in doing so, for he didn’t like traveling too much. Leaving their homeland was just enough to push him slightly over his edge.
His head lowered on his paws, his ears still pricked high as he waited for any sign of danger to pop out at them. It was as if the shadows of the trees were monsters and they were here to gather the two siblings into a hug with their claws. A large exhale escaped his mouth as he watched. He had been doing the same thing for awhile now, not getting much rest, but only getting it when he absolutely needed to. Even he knew tonight might be one of the nights that he got little sleep. The sleep that he needed for the hunt in the morning. And even he knew that. . .so with much effort, he closed his eyes and let himself slip into a deep sleep. One that, for days now, was finally undisturbed.
